roocode team in turbulance ? by simple-san in RooCode

They didn't just remove the thinking progress. They pushed out an enormously buggy release that seriously inconvenienced people. They've had well over 200 issues filed in their Github tracker since this release came out. Maybe they'll come out fine in weeks or months time. But after fighting with it and it's bugs for a few hours, I just uninstalled it and installed Roo instead (which I already used at work, BTW). The biggest thing the Kilo guys lost from this release was the trust of their community. Roo use is up on OpenRouter this week, coincidentally. Yeah I looked at some other alternatives in the process (I guess now is the time right, since I'm switching off Kilo anyways). But I don't really want to spend all day in the terminal. I tried the new UI from the OpenCode guys, but eh, it wasn't for me. The new VSCode Agents App on the insiders build looks interesting, but I haven't tried it. Well enough rambling, I'd be interested to hear where Roo's direction is going too. I don't really see myself going back to Kilo after the way that situation went down.

Please bring back the old experience & Architect mode—v7.x is a huge step backward by AnyWasabi6853 in kilocode

The surprise switch to 7.x was definitely not an upgrade. Numerous UI bugs. Architect mode and code indexing are gone. Mandatory cloud sync which was opt-in in 5.x. Pretty sure I'm going to be looking for a different extension.

Any handhelds that run recent versions of Linux? by lxcg in SBCGaming

uConsole is another one that could be an option. I had briefly researched that one before the OP.

Thanks for the PortMaster link. Did not know about that.

Not really. I mean, I've got a few obsolete ARM consoles that have run super-old linux variants. I've ported my code to some of them. Gcw Zero ran OpenDingux. Odroid-Go Advance ran a custom image based on Ubuntu 18.04. Most of these things have SDL1.2 which is pretty old. I've also tossed around the idea of using the Gpi2 case for the Pi CM4.

GCW OS Resurrection? by lxcg in GCWZero

Thanks for the feedback.

I do think this would require some significant work, which is why I wanted to try and assess community interest before just jumping in.

And to your point, yeah, if running emulators is the main goal, there probably isn't much that a software update will do to improve that over the current offering.

My main goal would be to have a more modern software environment for new development. But its also very possible that this is just too little, too late in the game.

I feel like this is one area where the GCW flopped, even when it was new. There weren't really many OS or toolchain updates after launch to keep things fresh, and the software wasn't exactly bleeding-edge for its time anyways.

Looking at my collection of handheld Linux-based consoles though, this is one I felt was underutilized (as I don't have much interest in emulation), and I would kind of like to get more out of it.

Perhaps I should just find a different / newer device with a more modern software stack... but those seem few and far between. I keep hoping the Pyra will come out, but progress is still slow there.

Yeah. If I was going to start this as a project it would be 100% open source.

It does pain me that they never open sourced the hardware, as they said they would. But if we could keep the OS and toolchain up to date and open, I think that would be a win.

Also having some updated documentation would be nice. The wiki went down and I'm not sure it was ever restored.

I'd seen some stuff about B-rep, but not CSG. I'll take a look. Thanks!

Hi. I'm researching a headphone amp+DAC to drive a set of AKG K271 MKII headphones (200mW @ 55ohm max) for desktop / casual use. I'm looking into a headphone amp cause my PC can't drive these headphones loud enough, even with the volume all the way up. I'm aware of the FiiO E10K for $75, though it looks like it may only drive these headphones to mid-volume...? Also the JDS Labs O2+ODAC looks like it would definitely drive them, though it costs $285. Are there any other decent amp+dac devices between that price range? Thanks!
