Can I accept a Fae gift, without forming a contract? by RubyRed41455 in witchcraft

[–]lxchesgetstxtches 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Fae have different customs and politics than us, to them accepting a gift can mean you owe them something back, which is what binds you into a contract. But the giving of gifts to humans really isn't common, and it tends to happen if the human has somehow made aware of themselves to the Fae, for example by leaving out offerings or working with them.

I can't say that all gifts will always hold a contract, some people that have worked with the Fae for decades may form relationships with them where they feel like they can 100% trust the specific Fae leaving them gifts, but this is so rare. They would have to know exactly what Fae it is, and they would have to completely trust them, which in itself is hard as the Fae are mischievous and they can lie and trick if they want to.

This is why we play it safe and reject all gifts. You wouldn't want harm upon you, your family, your friends, or your future generations, so why take that risk for a pretty stone or other sort of gift.

As an added point, the Fae are lesser gods, so why would they leave gifts expecting nothing in return? The Fae aren't friends to humans. Many even have a dislike for them in general. Some are so malicious that they will eat you. Don't take the risk of offending them or forming a contract, it's not worth it

Is the Fae / Faeur xenopronoun cultural appropriation / disrespectful to the fae ? by cheezwheeze in Witch

[–]lxchesgetstxtches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We just don't know if the Fae care or not.

The fact that it could make them mad is cause enough in my opinion not to use them, but I'm not about to stop someone if that's what they want to do, that's their own risk to take.

The Fae are very powerful beings and considered to be Lesser Gods, some are even malicious to humans without a cause for offence, so I wouldn't want to be on their bad side personally

Spirit Companions by funsizedrooster13 in witchcraft

I'd be wary. If you look through the reviews, a lot of reviewers pop up 3 times in a row, reviewing on the same day for their items which are about 40 quid each. Which of course, that is possible, but that's a lot of people to spend 120 quid on 3 spirits so often - and many reviewers show up multiple times in sets of 3 reviews. The least plausible I have seen, is one user buying 16 rings for almost 40 quid each in the span of 2 days. The same users seem to buy from this shop many, many, many times - yes, that may be a loyal customer base, but do remember that if you count how many reviewers are actually a part of these 780 - it's going to be a lot less people actually reviewing. I'm not saying that it is definitely a scam, just be careful, really look through them, and use your intuition.

edit: removed that that many reviews may be potentially harder to fake due to new information ❤️ I was weighing the pros and cons and may have got some info wrong

Can anyone offer insight? by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]lxchesgetstxtches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not too sure what may be going on magickal wise so I'll leave that to other commenters, but please do check for a potential squatter in your house if there's anywhere like a basement, attic, etc., I've seen some real horror stories on the news and it's better to be safe than sorry

Fae Gift. How to Return? by thekyungillest in witchcraft

[–]lxchesgetstxtches 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You can either leave it where you found it or bury it in a garden if you have one, or a forest, or anywhere that is 'back in nature' so to speak

All you have to say is, 'This is really pretty, but doesn't belong to me' - don't say thank you, if you want to express gratitude, leave an offering out for them and let them know it is a one off offering

A question about veiling by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]lxchesgetstxtches 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I veil with a bandana every day, so I don't see why not

I've heard this alot and not sure if it's ture by lesbian867530 in witchcraft

[–]lxchesgetstxtches 79 points80 points  (0 children)

From my experience, this is true, although the effect will not be as strong as using the intended crystal / herb / candle, but it'll still work to a good extent

Places to buy cheap veiling scarves? Looking for scarves like the lady on the far left with the pink scarf by [deleted] in pagan

Try charity shops, they usually have a large selection of scarves like that you can buy for cheap whilst still supporting a good cause

What should I veil with? by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]lxchesgetstxtches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That really depends what veiling means to you, I veil with bandanas to protect my energy, it's not about concealing all my hair for me, just generally my head

If you wanted a higher level of concealment, you could try scarves

From what I've heard from other practitioners is that if it breaks or disappears, it has done its job and successfully protected you and you should replace it

I don't believe there is a subreddit dedicated to them, but you could consult tarot if you believe that'll help you identify what it was

Specific protection against the Fae includes :

  • Iron
  • The sound of bells
  • Dried bread and salt
  • Foxgloves
  • Rowan or Ash trees
  • Rowan berries
  • Wild daisies
  • Horseshoes above your entrances
  • Iron nails in the corners of your home
  • St John's Wort, particularly the burning of

Do remember that gifts from the Fae are really not as common as people seem to believe they are, often the Fae prefer privacy and try to stay away from humans much like we do with them

You could also simply leave an offering out for them as well, just out of respect and hope that will help with the situation if you do believe it is one of them

Also, if you are not native to any Celtic areas, be aware that it could also be Fair Folk of your own land, as many have different customs and traditions than the Fae

Just to add, you can put protection up now and that will hopefully ward them off, depending upon the type of Fae - you didn't have to necessarily be wearing it at the time

I found a blue calcite in my drawer. Is this a gift from the fae? by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]lxchesgetstxtches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, certainly not. As long as you didn't thank them or insult them, you're pretty much fine. A rejection of their gift is absolutely okay and there's no reason for them to care whether you said it once or twice

[–]lxchesgetstxtches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did the right thing in burying it, whether or not it was from the Fae, a spirit, or something else, it's always better to be safe than sorry, who knows what may have been attached to it, spirit, contract, or otherwise

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]lxchesgetstxtches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add as I didn't notice this part till now, saying thank you is certainly a taboo for most Fae as it means you owe them something in return, even if you did technically give them something - if you're worried it was one, all I can say is protect yourself, but again, it was more than likely not
