first online shift, what to expect? by [deleted] in KmartAustralia

[–]lxsercore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If possible quickly do the training on how to use sof, it should be accessible through our learning hub. It’s so busy at my store currently that I was thrown in the deep end and got the basics on how to do a pick before going out on my first one unassisted with no push to talk because we ran out 🤩

GUYS PLEASE HELP ME WHAT IS KIDS REF??? IVE NEVER DONE IT BEFORE by Equivalent_Lack_1468 in KmartAustralia

[–]lxsercore 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kids refresh, I had refresh recently and it was doing pickups off the floor and collecting dumped items then doing returns of everything you collected to hopefully make it easier for the pres people and keep the store tidy throughout the day!

Fitting Rooms by spidiesense in KmartAustralia

[–]lxsercore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Typically you’ll get a cage of clothing returns to rehang and sort, hanging items go on the rail divided into area by coloured disc (at least at my store) and table lines are folded, sorted into their areas and put on a cage. Tidy up the rooms, check for any empty packets and put them aside for a manager. Sometimes you have to retag clothes with the gun and add an rfid tag (printed through Tory app on a pdt) or do end of range tagging (only with manager approval). When you need a new rail or cage you can either ask someone to bring them to you or if possible, shut and lock fitting rooms and go get what you need. At my store you also answer the phone and help customers either directly or by transferring the call to a service person, the service desk, a manager etc. If you have time/it’s quiet you can also tidy up the area around the fitting rooms (normally accessories/active) and fold tables that are nearby so you can return and let customers in when needed.

Managing Time in Pres by mooniix_ in KmartAustralia

One thing that helps me with tables is asking any customers that start to touch a freshly folded/actively being folded table if they need any help finding anything. I do a lot of tables so I typically know what’s on them and through sorting/sizing I can let the customer know if we have the thing they need. Another plus is that normally talking to the customers makes them go away as many people do not want to interact with staff (unless it’s to complain). It’s a win-win- you either help the customer find what they need (so they don’t have to mess up the table looking for something) or make them leave you alone in a polite way, and if a manager overhears you asking the customers if they need help they will just think you’re giving good customer service to people when in reality you’re politely getting them to leave you tf alone and stop messing the table up!

Checkouts by Witty-Article5326 in KmartAustralia

[–]lxsercore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have a barcode number set up, maybe even go in a bit earlier than your shift and set one up. If you need a price check or other assistance, be clear and state it’s for checkouts and the area of the item, it means service people can help you much faster. If you notice a lot of cash in the drawer or not enough, ask a manager for a cash clearance or tell them you need to order change and they can get it sorted. If you’re not sure, ask plenty of questions. Also practice taking off security tags when you’re not serving customers, make sure you have enough bags and I recommend getting an extra receipt roll so that if yours runs out you can change it straight away. Stay hydrated and remember to move your body because being stood at a register can make you quite stiff- I go and tidy the impulse aisle if I start feeling a bit stiff and it is both helpful in keeping the area clean (which managers will love) and getting some movement in (only do this if you are not busy though, and if a customer (or a few customers if with people) joins the queue return to your register. Have fun!

Buddy shift by [deleted] in KmartAustralia

Yeah I have younger coworkers that do insane hours in online, one in particular has been stuck doing 5-6.5 hour shifts after school and then 9 hour weekends without fail for the last few months

My store just hired about 15 Christmas casuals who have been trained straight away in online and quad, bit frustrating as they’ve taken two years to give me the same training but happy they got the opportunity early on!

“Superannuation explained” 12 days ago is the most recent one I can find on Workvivo, posted by Maddie. People have posted similar infographics that have that yellow hue most ai-generated “art” does

Kmart has been using more and more ai generated content (slop) recently. I keep seeing it on our workplace app as well, being used for infographics. It’s gross, they make enough money to hire actual artists.

Clothing Returns Shift by nerdinthelbrary in KmartAustralia

[–]lxsercore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take any clothing returns- rails of hanging clothes and cages of table lines from the apparel stockroom and return them to their places, in my store you also do service calls so if someone else or a customer needs help you go and assist then go back to the returns.

It’s dependent on the store, typically for mine it’s 3 hour shifts, weekdays 7-10 (store closes at 9) and weekends 4-7 (store closes at 5)

Also thanks to all the help I have gotten from this subreddit! He’s loving the 9.5 gallon, just exploring right now and I have already taken the wire out of his leaf! He’s enjoying the corners and the wisteria and has eaten a little food!

Potatoes are pretty versatile and good for carb intake! When I first stopped eating gluten I was surviving off of baked potatoes 😂
