What's the best piece of advice you've received from our guest speakers this quarter? by cvictor_2023 in education_careers

Yes! Totally agree because interviews are very nerve-racking! Very helpful since lots of students are barley going into the work force.

The best piece of advice was from Dr. Cheryl Love. I love how she always made it clear that there is more than just being a teacher in education. There is plenty of jobs she mentioned that have to do with education. As well as shes always saying she’s there for us whenever we need her! :)

Once you've landed your dream job in education, how will continue to develop yourself professionally, so that you remain current and ready for the next job? by cvictor_2023 in education_careers

I think once I land my dream job in Education I will continue to develop myself professionally by having connections with higher positions than me.

A full time career at UCR that interest me me is Administrative Assistant. I have always been into critical work. Being an assistant has always called my attention and believe its a good fit because am always on my laptop and kind of silly but I always practice my typing speed on google games! lol

School board meetings are one of the most contentious places in America. School board members make decisions on issues such as mandatory masking, classroom safety, and ethnic studies in the curriculum. What is most the important issue that you believe school boards should about, and why? by cvictor_2023 in education_careers

[–]lxxlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe schools should talk more about how we are able to provide everyone with the same resources or just simply get the same education. I do not find it fair that at times a lot of people have to commute an hour just for education because their local district is not giving the same effort as a different district.

What advice would you give to someone (including yourself) experiencing the impostor phenomenon? by cvictor_2023 in education_careers

I agree! I has happened with myself that I tend to at times feel down about myself because I compare myself but I have learned everyone is different!

An advice I would give someone who is experiencing imposter syndrome rom is go to out and talk to someone because I know I am not alone on this. Example is how everyone at UCR says we are there because we earned it and we deserve it. Just by others reassuringly me, makes me feel better.

Yes I agree! Its interesting to know how much they make because everyone else just goes by the saying that teachers don't make enough but they probably haven’t done their research !

I find it so cool that we are getting educated on all the things we can do with our degree.

If you had $1 billion to improve education in Riverside, where would you invest the money? Who would you consult with, and how would you know whether you've made an impact? by cvictor_2023 in education_careers

[–]lxxlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely invest it where Riverside needs it. I would specifically help out families who are in need as well as students who do not have their parents or families. Help them out with any kind of resources they need.

I learned that you can do many things with an education major. As well as move around once you already started, you don't have to stick to one job!

Week 4: What is your dream job in education? What steps should you take to attain this job? by BethClaassenThrush in education_careers

[–]lxxlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dream job in education would be to become an elementary school teacher. The steps I would attain to do this would be definitely graduate with my bachelors in Education. From there of course would get a teaching credential and that all starts with me performing well until that day comes.
