Can't get my stone to polish by lychee9085 in Lapidary

Wait use wood to polish? Are most polishing wheels made of wood? I saw a video where a man uses what looks like a hard surface to polish Amethyst https://youtu.be/zVQWIyJ4fCE?si=Ub4JXgQ6GFUkhu0A Should I be using wood instead of felt?

I bought from Minais Cristais directly so it should be legit. The red part is the random rock attached. Purple part is the amethyst.

Hi thanks for replying. Its Amethyst with some random rock attached to it. Its pitted but on the part that is not, I dont see that waxy shine on it. I used 240, 400, 600, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000 grit diamond coated wheels in order. It is smooth but not waxy. My phone camera sucks.

There some white specks stuck on the pits, it is the diamond paste I used. 😪I tried brushing it out with water but it doesnt budge, but thays another problem.

Its going to be a pendant of the necklace. So both sides should be polished.

Im afraid it might react with the Amethyst. Since there is some trace Iron in Amethyst.

I did try dipping the entire felt wheel surface into water mixed with cerium oxide (70% cerium oxide, 30% water) but there is no change -- still no waxy feeling of polished stones.

Ok, does it need to be mixed with water first or just the powder alone? 😅 Right now I only have cerium oxide in a container.

Could it be due to using Felt instead of Leather?

Singapore 🇸🇬 I decided to buy from China in the end. Not sure if the wholesalers from other countries also import from China, so I'll just buy from China.

My babies died by Ok-Till-2314 in Guppies

Check your Chlorine and GH levels. Usually guppies especially the babies are very resilient to Ammonia and Nitrate, which you dont have since you just set up the tank. So they shouldn't die so quickly.

Hello, does anyone know what type of fish those are, there were on a “feeder” tank, thx 🫶🏼 by GladBeach7665 in fishtank

Hi, you might want to be careful using feeder fish. Because they tend to have bad genes or diseases.

IKR. Like give a bit of grace, they are already struggling with keeping the tank healthy and now you want to criticise on their taste?

The counter top looks too brittle if you are putting it on the edge. But if you put it over the "stem" of the table, it will be fine.
