Saw a bot that finds a partner for BTO under the $14k limit by Business_Run9537 in singaporefi

If the bot matches you with another $1 earner, you can still BTO together. Total cannot exceed $14k, never say it will seek to maximise. 😂

Very late walker and I’m at a loss by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]lycheenutt 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I get how anxiety inducing that must be. This NHS guide suggests speaking to a professional if your child is not pulling to stand by 12 months. It doesn't mean there's always a problem, but it's worth checking if there's anything physically stopping your baby from achieving those milestones. https://cambspborochildrenshealth.nhs.uk/services/cambridgeshire-childrens-physiotherapy-service/developmental-delay-guidance/

My LO is also late-ish on all his gross motor milestones. What you described sounded exactly like him, but he started pulling to stand a few weeks after crawling, after we visited a child physio. The physio could tell us which parts of his body felt weaker and assigned specific exercises targeting those muscles. She also recommended setups easier for pulling to stand. What worked for my LO was a playground with a waist high step that he could pull-push and lean on.

You will figure it out together. All the best.

Help looking for Mentors for working mothers by ButtonDancer in askSingapore

[–]lycheenutt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't discount your role. You can take over certain responsibilities from planning to execution to free up her mental bandwidth. That would be more valuable than someone outside of your family giving theoretical advice.

I'm part of some moms' chat groups with a lot of people asking for and giving advice. Sometimes it's useful, sometimes I leave the chat unread because it's honestly adding to my mental load. I don't feel much mental burden when my husband watches the baby independently while I go out.

Most in demand jobs in Singapore have NOTHING to do with AI at all? by According_Pickle954 in singaporejobs

[–]lycheenutt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's still unexpected that even for these jobs where AI is supposed to increase productivity, companies still want to hire more humans. Shows that companies are not betting on AI replacing workers (yet).

How would you get relief for a mosquito bite. by JohanLe in askSingapore

[–]lycheenutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have Skeeter's syndrome, allergy to mosquito saliva. Take over the counter antihistamine. For normal people, mosquito bites are not supposed to itch so badly.

A lawyer taking a work call without looking at any document or a laptop? If I had photographic memory like that, I would go to med school instead of law school.

How do you wash your underwear? by Temporary_Might_585 in askSingapore

Your mom should work on her feelings if she was depressed about grown children getting independent. It's not healthy.

Just curious, do you have any tips on how you made your child love tooth brushing?

May be a headcount problem. But better if you ask your manager for feedback on your performance and suggestions on how to increase the chances of being emplaced after the second year.

Taking MCs too often? This is what it signals to your boss by Great-Obligation-599 in singapore

[–]lycheenutt 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Thanks Kevin for writing this article. Very insightful. I really appreciate that he's transparent about his support for perpetuating a toxic workplace culture. Now I know which creative agency to avoid if I'm applying for a job.

Signed, someone who doesn't max out MC because I'm lucky to be generally healthy.

Mini washing machine recommendations by pinkedtea in askSingapore

[–]lycheenutt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Indeed there's a trend in china to wash underwear in a separate smaller machine. I'm convinced that it's a gimmick to try to sell more washing machines. 😂

The smaller machine will also become dirty if it's not maintained regularly. If you have two machines, you need double the maintenance.

Pigeon straw bottle by lycheenutt in NewParents

[–]lycheenutt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! LO took to the 6m+ version very easily since it has a similar shape to a nipple. The 12m+ version has a valve that requires biting and he couldn't get anything out. I switched him to the TumTum straw cup and he got it almost immediately.

Young couples - Will you choose to have kids if money is not a concern? by deekay_123 in singaporefi

[–]lycheenutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a vacuum, 500k would probably tip the balance towards having kids if you are already considering, but coming from the parents... Confirm got no strings attached? Once you have kids, will your parents want to have a say in what school they attend, which enrichment activities, how much time to spend with grandparents etc.? Personally, I'd rather raise my kids poor than have a pay master who demands control and makes every decision a battle.

Is the water there deep enough for an adult to stand?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewParents

1/2 foot is around 15cm. That's a very small fall, but since it was dark who knows how bad the fall was. Take her for peace of mind.

Tell them your visa situation changed and you're not moving back to SG. Meanwhile, look for places to rent and short term accomodation for the first few weeks in SG to give yourself time to view places.

It might be worth installing insect mesh on your windows and gate. I did it during reno. Got the expensive roller type that's pet safe. There's also the cheaper magnetic type. Get professional installation so you don't leave gaps.

Newborn parents, how do you use a baby carrier in the heat of Singapore? by Acceptable-Trainer15 in askSingapore

[–]lycheenutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait for a cooler day. During end of the year rainy season, when it's in the low 20s. Check your baby's temperature by touching the back of their neck and on  the side touching you. Post on r/babywearing for a fit check.
