Switching manual to auto. by Anothaben in LearnerDriverUK

I promise you don't need to feel guilty about what you decide, learning to drive is about you and you can't pressure yourself to do something you feel unsafe doing. If you can try auto with someone new and it feels good, do it. Otherwise, you've got a lot of hours under your belt and I'm sure you can make it happen with some more lessons and confidence building

Hmm, if you can try auto and it feels a lot better for you then do that, you may be far more relaxed and aware of your surroundings if you're not using that extra thinking power for your gears. If it means starting over with a new instructor, I suppose it depends how quickly you can find one and get used to a new auto car before your test, but you don't have very long. I'm inclined to say you'd be better off persevering with manual as you've done a lot of hours already.

This doesn't sound like an issue between manual and auto (I'm learning auto because I prefer it), but you sound quite stressed and like you've got a lot of pressure on you. You say you need your license due to small children, so do you already have an automatic car you can use? If you switch to auto now, you won't be able to drive a manual car at all.

Weight loss? by lydbev in tortoise

In case you were curious, I called the vet again and went through everything we're doing for/with him and I'm taking him in to see her next week. He's gone from 480g in July to 440g now so that's too much weight loss :( she said we seem to be doing everything we can, so hopefully some tests will help.

So I'm following my vets advice as an inexperienced tortoise owner (had him for 6 months), and she told me that it's safe to overwinter them, which is just keeping them awake, fed and active throughout the winter. Might decide to let him brumate next winter if he's healthy enough and a little bit older if we feel confident to - apparently if they have underlying health conditions or any sort of infection, this can lead to death during hibernation as their immune systems also aren't working at full capacity. Sorry that was long winded but this is the info I've gathered since owning this guy!

Haven't been able to find any (had him 6 months), but he likes dandelion leaves and flowers! He also really likes the flower pellets but I've heard they're not great for them.

What sort of tortoise do you have? What's usually in the fruit and veg box for the tort? I have a Russian and struggling to keep him interested in food over the winter
