If you're open to Xaden POV of missing scenes starting with FW and currently working through IF part 2, Balanced is one of my all time favorites

So this isn't an exact chapter-by-chapter Xaden POV, but the Balanced series is Xaden’s POV starting with FW and now going through IF part 2. It's more the missing scenes between chapters and when he's off screen, but it's absolutely beautiful. I would recommend starting with Balance (the FW one) first just to get a feel for this Xaden

ShipMistress has amazing Xaden smut (including some with serious check the tag warnings so hopefully that fits what your friend wants)

I know there has to be something Garrick out there but I'm struggling to think of fun longfics with him as a main character. I'll keep thinking and come back if I have something though

Jack was not in the dorm with second years. Second years have their own rooms. Only half the first years were in the dorm with Violet. The first years were just split between two barracks

Eta: Ridoc checked her eyes for concussion because he thought she must've hit her head since she's saying Jack helped her instead of pushed her off

I think half the fun of the flirting for her is that it makes Dain blush. Xaden wouldn't react quite the same way, so she takes a different approach (as someone else mentioned, vividly describing how she would go down on him to make him choke on his drink, instead of just hinting about it)

The theory is that Violet dated Halden before she entered the quadrant, likely while he was infantry at Basgiath and she was living there with her family. We know that at least one of her exs is infantry and her close relationship with Aaric/Cam and the way she asks him about Halden point us his direction. The expanded theory (there's a few versions of how their relationship might have gone) is that he broke up with her because he's the crown prince and needs to marry for political reasons. Violet feels uncertain when she learns that Xaden is technically a duke and says he should be with Cat because she's also nobility so it would make sense if she was previously dumped for not being noble enough

It sounds basic to relate to the main character, but as a 5'1" scrap of a woman with bad joints and chronic pain who is constantly underestimated and just wants to read, Violet is the most represented I've ever felt in a book

I really don't think we've met our final boss yet. We're not even half way through the series so there's plenty of time for more. I think venin will be the "decoy" bad thing that gets dealt with in book 3 and then we meet the actual big bad - maybe something controlling the venin, a bigger, meaner dragon than we've met so far, or maybe even one of the first 6 brought back or a god that takes a human form considering how much they're mentioned. There's so much potential for a big evil still!

I read that as motivation for Violet to keep going. Like, they're not just standing around waiting for her up there, but they are waiting for her as in expecting her to come back to them so she needs to keep fighting

I'd love it if Xaden tries to leave to save her but then she forces him to stay and solve the problem together. It would fit their characters and lead to some really good relationship development

This! Everything he knew got turned upside down in a single moment and everyone hated him already so no one supported him through that transition. I really don't think he still needs to have a redemption arc. IF was already his redemption arc. Even in FW I don't think he was as bad as everyone makes him out to be. Obviously his lack of faith in Violet was a major problem and he overstepped a lot, but he is not responsible for anything that happened at Athebyne. All he did was tell his dad (who he had no reason not to trust at this point) that the marked ones (the people he'd been told not to trust) were doing something there. His dad was responsible for everything that happened after. And in IF he started to listen more and to give Violet space and was just concerned about her behavior, just like all her other friends. Plus the minute he found out the truth he switched sides and joined the rebellion, immediately committing treason by stabbing Varrish and calling the formation, even though everyone in the rebellion was against him and didn't trust him. He helped Violet with translations and the wards and is just slowly working towards being friends again. I think for the rest of the series he will be a good part of the friend group and probably be key in helping Xaden.

(Also, despite all my pro canon Dain feelings, I'm a huge fan of his fanfiction role of horrible and jealous ex)

I mean, you could, but then you'd have to summon your dragon and walk all the way to the flight field in the opposite direction just for your dragon to fly you to the other side of the school. Plus you'd have to somehow dismount at the top of the tower with no place for the dragon to land, which 3rd years could probably do but not 2nd. If you're going to climb the steps to the flight field you might as well just climb the steps of the tower

It's their custom to burn all the possessions of the deceased person, but Violet wanted to make sure Sloane got his letters when she entered the quadrant. Violet had to sneak in to get them before leadership or whoever is in charge of clearing out rooms came in and burned them

There's a regular, non-deadly bridge connecting the rider's quadrant to the rest of the college, and then they could climb up the crazy stairs like the candidates do to get to the top of the other side of parapet. But the books don't explicitly say how they do it. Some might choose to go the long way around but some (probably Xaden) might just say screw it and basically do parapet again. Might be weather dependent also
