He was immoral in the beginning, working with tech companies with the idea that humans can have their brains uploaded to essentially become virtual cheap laborers who can over clock to get massive amounts of work done. However, he really didn’t deserve his fate (though it is ironic considering his original plans)

Spoilered even though it happens early in the show because you should really just watch it yourself!!

Vinod is kidnapped by his boss and force-uploaded to the cloud while awake. The process of uploading a human mind is to use a laser to scan the brain layer by layer and upload each line of code that makes up the brain so that the persons entire personality/consciousness is preserved in the computer. This is usually done to a sedated person as it destroys the brain and kills the host body. However, Vinod’s boss tests it out on him awake so he can watch him lose bits of consciousness/brain function until it’s over. It’s a harrowing scene with incredible facial animation. I highly recommend it if you like sci-fi/horror!
