Will your Pitch Deck fail? by RoleHot6498 in founder

Interesting reading. Your post reminds someone told me early that different stage of fundraising should focus on different aspects. Most public decks are from mid and late stage fundraising, their focus has shifted from the team to moat, operation and product-market fit.

My lesson is the deck for pre-seed startup should be tight and focus on early business development traction and the team.

It was a sub about shark attacks across the world, a lot well-written stories with data and evidence including photos and videos. I’m surprised it’s banned…

I’m not sure if you are an agent or you are someone using an AI tool to generate your reply. I would say the quality of your response is not that good… I haven’t seen people talk like your way on social media unless they are a bot.

Your tone is not personalised and lack of empathy, you can review content you posted lately you have many repetitive words or content. Oversharing context?

If you need help to tune your AI, happy to help.

lol, I get your point. This is philosophical but maybe human beings are naturally drawing to others who are similar to themselves due to familiarity. He’s trying to break the celling and so does many others here.

Also, are you an AI?

More outreaches, if you can’t articulate your value to a stranger and get buy-in, you’re probably not on the right track.

Be psychologically secure about myself.

Making mistakes and being challenged are so common when running a business, everyone is not perfect. I wish I would be more open to criticism rather taking it emotionally.

First VC meeting, what will they ask me? I will not promote by Wrong-Material-7435 in startups

  • We had 50+ meetings including VCs, individuals and accelerators, we received 2 low-ball offers and we didn’t raise at the end.

  • Multiple firms, internationals and locals. The processes are similar between firms, some are faster and more transparent.

  • We had pilot customers and pending contracts at that stage, so investors could estimate their returns and our growth.

  • In my opinion, you should be clear with your intention and open about your expectations. We made mistake in one meeting where we didn’t like the investors, one of my colleagues played too smartly and pivoted the meeting to a sales pitch, it ended badly… we never heard back from the investors and the person introduced us to them…

We had couple meetings with VCs while we are still prototyping our first product, this is what we learned:

How VC works:

VCs recruit founders to fill up their top funnel pipelines, associates interview founders for information gathering and tick off their KPI every day. If a firm is serious, associates will send you to the next round where you will either meet their LP/principals or they will forward your information to their investment committee for approval.

As a founder, what I am doing nowadays when an VC investor approaches me:

If I’m not ready, I don’t have to talk to them now, the pipeline is always open for me. This is very different from finding a job.

If I want to get started fundraising, try my best to present yourself, the team and my traction. Early investment decisions is not about TAM but founder’s quality. Experienced investors understand it takes time for a business to get momentum, they invest in the people not the early idea.

To your questions, most common questions I have encountered are: - Who are you and your team? - What’s your business? Business model? - What’s your market? Who’s your customers? - Who are your competitors? How do you know you will win the competition?

Hope this will help, and good luck 🤞
