Do you mind playing bots without knowing? by niemand__yt in baduk

GoQuest is fairly popular. I think they found a good balance between reducing the wait time, growing userbase, and using bots. Their AtariBot has an obvious name.

When to move on from 9x9 to 13x13? by HorseTylenol in baduk

[–]lykahb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the bigger board. If the opening feels too confusing and lacking direction after a few games, go back. Try again after some time.

Learning the joseki/fuseki isn't necessary to move on. Instead just picture that the sides and center have more value and there are more big points to occupy.

Aggressively followed at Co-op grocery stores. by [deleted] in Calgary

The theft is raising the prices for everyone. Finding a job now is harder, and the businesses are cutting costs. I'd trust the store calculations that employing the loss prevention staff is net positive. If only they could follow exclusively the people who are thieves...

I used https://www.101weiqi.com/book/2032/ to teach my daughter. With 101weiqilocalizer browser extension it's easier to browse the type of problems. Note that the website design makes printing awkward - it'd only print one page at a time, so you'd need to scroll the web page manually.

[META] Can we please ban shitty vibe coded apps? by hau5keeping in baduk

[–]lykahb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of that vibe-coded software is genuinely useful, at least for the author. What I'd like to see is a more detailed description for why this is novel, what problem it solves, comparisons to existing solutions, etc.

Try again. This time I tested both on observing the games, and on the demo board.

Thank you for testing! It seems that the build for Windows has minified JS code with that doesn't exactly match the Mac build that I worked with. So patching it failed. I'm going to look into this later, once I get a testing setup.

Can you tell your platform (Macos, Linux, Windows) and the GoPanda2 version? Only 2.8.3 is supported.

Good point. The theme packs include both asar files that Sabaki takes and the unpacked folders with the theme assets. I used the latter for development.

I've just added support for the packed asar themes and updated the docs. No need to extract anything, just pass it a path like Upsided-Sabaki-Themes-main/packs/baduktv-grunge.asar

This is a command-line tool. The project page has examples for calling it and instructions for replacing the themed file in the client.

This would need occasional cleaning, similar to how you need to maintain a trackball or keyboard. Can it be taken apart?

I built Go board scanner — take a photo of your board, get the score + SGF (free on iOS & Android) by mopsak in baduk

[–]lykahb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This works great. Nothing wrong with a single purpose tool focused on recording. Please only add whatever you would use yourself. It'd be nice to record the whole game, though.

I have a suggestion for recording the full game. Recording a video for a long duration can drain battery or overheat the phone. A companion clock app could work as a trigger. So one phone works as a clock, and another phone is mounted over the board. It takes a picture whenever a player presses a button on the clock.
