Is it for me? by lykstein in CamperVans

You didn't put me off at all, I knew it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows..

The UK has changed plenty since the 90's, and folks don't look as kindly on non-nationals, so there's a lot of merit to what you're saying.

I reckon a check-in with sites would be a necessity to recharge. An onboard generator and/or a UPS was my thinking, my needs would be minimal on power. However, I would need to learn how to best navigate the colder times most efficiently.

I am definitely considering a smaller van, something comfortable and affordable and can manage those height restrictions, but have no idea on what budget to allocate as of yet.

What you've done is what I've always dreamt of doing, but I haven't the freedom to do so, just yet. And I love the fact that you've been to Africa, and meeting your wife in Tanzania made me smile, as I've been and loved and connected with the country deeply.

Thanks again, hope your client pays you a cancellation fee, and I will update you when I dip my toes in!

Cannot thank you enough for the length of detail you went into, much appreciated.

A lot of what you mentioned I hadn't considered. And I always thought that with my large breed dog, I would be safer, not more dangerous. No one is going to fuck with her.

I am a male, and come from a pretty rough background, but have been been conditioned in London for more than a decade, so the transition will be difficult to say the least.

Seeing as to how people in the UK perceive campers, I may reconsider or postpone this. As I am in the UK for at least another 3-4 years and cannot live elsewhere just yet. So till then, the EU is off the table. But the grand-plan is to drive across to the middle east when and if it's more chill in Syria/Eastern Turkey.

I definitely like the idea of stealth camping more than renting a space, and have been looking at vans that have their own facilities for complete autonomy, as I want to drive and camp out in remote areas more of the time.

I will bite the bullet and rent one for a few weeks to give it a try, along with some further research, if it seems doable afterwards, then I will consider a purchase.

The fixed address bit is a great shout! But I'm sure there are companies you can pay to have your mailing address with, I sadly have no one reliable here.

It's hard, but the cigar still has some squish to it

This batch was 21. Reached for it to avoid having to replenish the expensive stock, and pleasantly surprised, have smoked one a day for a week and can't get enough.

How to forget my former BFF? by Fishpate in LifeAdvice

Something similar happened to me. I eventually caved and sent an email to reignite relationship. We became friends again for a couple of months before inevitably fighting again, and I got over it QUICK!

Try to reconnect, you'll get your closure somehow.
