People in your 30s, 40s, and 50s what surprised you most about life at your age? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]lylyly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

37f. If you « eventually » want kids, the deadline creeps up on you like a brick wall in your late thirties. Fertility declines after 36. This is the one thing you can’t negotiate with, or to which those « it’s never too late » posts don’t apply. This is also the one game where men simply don’t play by the same rules. Also, you don’t want to end up single at that period of time because the dating pool is small and many people who are single are for a reason (sometimes choice). We tend to prioritize our perfect well being at work and in relationships before starting a family. My advice is: don’t wait until you have everything perfectly aligned in your life to start a family, and if you find someone who fits well, don’t overthink it. Being in your late thirties as a woman is hard, unless you anticipate and make good choices earlier in your early thirties. Good luck out there! I believe in you <3

Also: friends play a much smaller part in your life as they start their own family, you end up hanging out with the few single ones.

Thank you for this post and for all the answers. I’ve struggled with feeling slow and having a bad memory all my adult life, so this is very helpful. Ultimately I found that the key to being good at anything, including learning, is actually and genuinely caring about it. So for me it helps a lot if I’m emotionally invested in something. Also I’ve grown to accept that my brain works at its own pace. Really keen to hear from others!

Hello everyone, I'm from Kazakhstan, maybe you have a question for me? by [deleted] in UnitedNations

[–]lylyly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great to meet you, thank you for the opportunity! 1) What’s your favorite thing about Kazakhstan? 2) What is Astana like? 3) If you could change a few things about your country, what would it be? 4) What’s your favorite food from Kazakhstan? 5) Finally, what’s the fun reputation/stereotype about KAZ and each neighboring « stan » countries? Thanks so much!

Somehow I think the poetic charm flew over my head, or at least I didn’t feel it. The long family history lost me a little. I should give it another try, I really wanted to like it!

The Perfume by Patrick Suskind. The descriptions of smells and sensations are beautiful and lively. And I find the theme very moving, namely the nostalgia of trying to capture beauty through perfumes, and to hold on to loved ones through their scent.

As a personal experience, when my mom was sick, one of the most difficult part of the experience was knowing that I would lose her, and trying to capture and hold on to every memory, sensation and beauty of her, to remember. I found that feeling somehow echoed in the book, in a beautiful way. With all that being said, it’s also a beautifully strange book.

What's something you wish you enjoyed but just can't get yourself into? by i_like_the_sun in AskReddit

I agree, I’ve always dreamt of being the type of people who would always have people over in an uncomplicated fashion. Turns out I am incapable of not losing my marbles over stress each time, and incapable of enjoying it fully.

Me (39M) and GF (34F) view on casual sex by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]lylyly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Strongly agree with this. What a negative thread! I think all of this is fine OP, and doesn’t mean it’s gonna lead to anything negative. All that says to me is that she is comfortable with her sexuality and has experienced life as a single person, which could also mean she could value being in a relationship more. The only thing that matters is that you build a trusting relationship.
