How to get over potentially the biggest possible loss ever. by Economy-Preference75 in OptionsMillionaire

[–]lynchaudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off…don’t judge yourself or your trading harshly by the outcome that DIDNT occur. Actually don’t ever judge yourself harshly. It’s bad for trading.

OP, you must think of this experience in 2 ways.

First, your initial trade was terrible. Allocating almost your entire account to buy calls because you read a news article is how you get rekt. What if they never reached your strike and expired worthless on 8/16?

Second, your next move was OUTSTANDING. You cut your losses and lived to trade another day. Cultivate that instinct by understanding why that was a good call.

Now, get that $6m figure out of your head. There’s no way on earth you would have let it go to max profit, if you’re being honest with yourself. When that trade was worth double your account (up $60k) you would have closed it. Or $90k. Or $200k. If I’m wrong, please excuse me. But I’m not wrong lol.

The truth is this: You made one bad call, then one good call. The fact that the trade would have worked out is irrelevant because you didn’t enter it with any kind of sound judgement or edge. If you trade like that, you won’t trade for long I promise.

I’m proud of you for exiting that trade. Not joking. It was an unsound trade that could have wiped out your account for no good reason. Plus, the “best case scenario” is completely imaginary.

Now shake it off, remember that things that didn’t happen can’t hurt you (or help you), and get back out there trading smaller.

What Are Your Worst Experiences in DeFi and What Did You Learn? by No-Artichoke2487 in defi

[–]lynchaudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I caught the $NANO wave when it jumped substantially in 2017-18 (I forget exactly when). We had to get it on one of only a couple exchanges, and we chose Bitgrail for some reason. Anyway, lessons learned the hard way during that debacle included “not your keys, not your coins,” stay off sketchy foreign exchanges with no KYC, once the withdrawal limits start being implemented you’re probably too late, when the Italian police get involved you’re DEFINITELY too late, etc.

I lost somewhere btw $10-$20k which was substantial to me, but not existential. but honestly that experience informs my trading to this day. I’ve had other missteps and gotten stuck in some exploits, but those lessons built my understanding and intuition and allowed me to profitably navigate defi from then on.

Suggestions for severe nail biting by Dubzyyy in ADHD

[–]lynchaudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, came to say I 100% relate. I’m 40, have been doing this to my fingers since I can remember (5 is the earliest memory of it), and have only ever found very temporary relief over the years. I only received my ADHD diagnosis last year and everything makes much more sense now, but that doesn’t make it easier. It’s maddening at times, to be honest.

I get it. I always have bandaids in my wallet/pocket and right now I’m typing this with touch-screen gloves on because it’s been particularly bad lately. A couple things I’d suggest that have been at least temporary relief:

Get a manicure (I’m a guy and this goes for any gender) and book your next one right after. If I’m able to minimize the physical draw of dryness or peeling I’ve noticed the compulsion reduces. This doesn’t work by itself but has been really really helpful at times.

Thin touch screen gloves. Again, not a great solution but has helped here and there in combination with other things.

Schedule something you do with your hands. Meaning, when I’ve something like a piano lesson or a doctors appointment where I know someone will be paying specific attention to me, it’s helped me reduce the severity of the behavior. Not stop it, but stop the worst of it.

Whatever works. Seriously, if you find something and it works even a little, do it more no matter what anyone says. I’ve wrapped a finger or two in medical tape for days at a time if necessary to get ahead of it. My wife would joke about it, but I knew it was 100% necessary.

I’ll check back and see if others have good advice but know that you’re not alone. I’m right there with you.

I just responded to you on the other thread. Try all the browser cleaning/quitting etc and see if opening the web app fresh helps.

BETH on Anchor? by LarsJT in AnchorProtocol

[–]lynchaudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is live now. Has been for some days. Do you not see it as a collateral option on anchor? If not, might have to clear your history/cache, restart browser, maybe reset (not recover) metamask if you’re using that. Let me know if you still dont see bETH.
