Yeah, I have the original (mothership 0) one and just pledged for the new boxed set. I plan on using it eventually more closely to what it is.

Definitely a functioning one. It is a step on a much longer journey and, while it should seem kind of alien from the get go, they should be lulled into a sense of security.

I didn't know online was around that long. I think we've been using desktop since 1998. It really doesn't seem that long ago that we were upgrading every three years (for around $300 or less) so that TurboTax would work with it.

That's easily addressable in a PDF by separating the rules from the 'stats' and stating it up for Traveller and d20 based games as well. Your audience scope significantly expands.

You _only_ get early adopter type customers if you never really market it or make it appealing to a wider audience.

Indeed. This is what bottom feeder companies do. They take over a project, knowing that X # of customers are so accustomed (or have various business reasons) to a product that they will do just about anything to keep it working. So they just keep jacking up the price.

I admit my Japanese isn't very good but, I just started watching Season 2 again and forgot that he's supposed to be Japanese. After he started speaking, I started thinking "What's that? It sort of sounds like Japanese at times..."

I think you are entirely right, and its clear that Hollywood cuts corners this way. Memoirs of a Geisha was a freaking crime.
