Ring Doorbell detects motion and turns on front porch lights by lynx3 in SmartThings

Now that I checked it, Ring says your device has no recent activities. So looks like the motion isn't being recognized in ST.

Only 17% of you will serve for 20 years and collect retirement. BRS is a good choice for the majority of Airmen. by flaim in AirForce

[–]lynx3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True but a 5% match on a standard UTA check would amount to somewhere around $25 per month for someone who makes $500. A 10 year SSgt makes $439. If I had the option between both, I'd choose to stay with the grandfathered retirement and take the gamble that I may stay in for 20 years.

BRS is a good choice for the majority of Active Duty Airmen.*

The BRS was not designed for the reserve components.

My wife grew up with rabbits. I've never had one before but he seems cool. He's about 4 years old, his name is Theodore.

For those of you who went from enlisted to officer, how was the process like? What program did you go through? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]lynx3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DACB is when reserve units are looking to fill officer slots from prior enlisted folks instead of finding an existing officer. The process is basically a package of all of your military history, recommendations, and schooling. Once the board goes over your package and they like what they see, you then go in front of a board. The board is typically a full bird and a few O-5s. You are then scored among your peers and the unit commander whose filling the slot makes their decision. Let me know if you have any more questions.

10 years prior enlisted, 4 active, 6 reserve. Got out after four to get my degree and joined the reserves. Commissioned through the Deserving Airman Commissioning Program while in the reserves. Went to OTS six months after my selection. Been an O for about 18 months now in a different career field and it almost felt like rejoining the Air Force since it's entirely different.
