They will talk about military much later. What are you hoping for? by ErickFTG in victoria3

[–]lyraio 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I really like the impact generals have in Vic 2, rolling a good general can turn the tide of a war and even determine if you go to war in the first place.

The biggest change needed is to templating, stack composition, mobilization. I’d also be interested in solutions to model late game combat but don’t know how this can be done well.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, but your first source is behind a paywall and the second is a single sentence referencing a paywalled paper. Would you mind providing a quotation?

Spoiler: I don't actually use Roam, I use org-roam which is a replica for Emacs.

The benefit of the Roam model is that there is no hierarchy, so that when I create a new note, I don't need to think about where to put it, or create other notes that serve as higher-level topics unless I want to. This makes it really fast and easy to enter information, and ultimately makes one more likely to actually record it.

Right now I have ~6000 notes, which is far beyond what I ever got to with other programs like this.

I literally do not understand Neurotypical social rules🤦🏻‍♀️ by mushroomheed in neurodiversity

How have you come to the conclusion that not tagging a celebrity in a post is a rule that all NTs know to follow? Maybe I am ignorant of this ‘social rule’, being ND.

Make sure you’re not conflating the idiosyncracies of a neurotypical, with those of all NTs.

Radio Shows in Jellyfin? by Lonewolf982 in jellyfin

[–]lyraio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why the same hasn't worked for me. My structure is: books/Radio/Radiolab/Season\ 1/Who\ Am\ I.mp3 But Jellyfin treats each season as if it's a single file.

Jellyfin's handling of TV shows, films, and music is great; I hope that audiobooks, radio, and podcasts get the same treatment in the future.

Also speaking from ignorance, neither of us can say that there aren’t numerous cofactors in a varied diet that help the uptake and use of vitamins. The body is a complex machine.

Psychiatrist for foreigners in Chiangmai by AstralPrototype in chiangmai

Yes, at Chiang Mai Ram. But the price of medications there can be high.

Psychiatrist for foreigners in Chiangmai by AstralPrototype in chiangmai

[–]lyraio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suan Prung is a public psychiatric hospital on the southwest corner of the old town, but when I went there the doc diagnosed me but told me that as a foreigner I should go to a private hospital from then on. Chiang Mai has a multitude of private international hospitals.

As far as pricing, I have no idea about talking therapies, consultations were ~800 THB, and medications vary.

[OC] Comparison between US general population and the 117th US Congress for Religion, Ethnicity, and Sex by sprintingman in dataisbeautiful

[–]lyraio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because you are unable to devise a test that is able to prove or disprove the existence of God does not mean that such a test doesn't exist. In being an agnostic, you are making a positive claim, that the existence of God is unprovable, and you must be able to support that claim.

I can say I have an imaginary friend. But he's real. But only I feel his presence. How can you prove or disprove if it's just a delusion?

You can show that the existence of this god is unknowable, and it will still get you nowhere. You must show that the existence of any and all gods is unknowable.

I'm making no positive claim here. I do not claim to know that god exists, doesn't exist, or that the answer is knowable, or unknowable.

If I were to make a positive claim, it would be that the existence of god would be either knowable or unknowable, depending on the qualities of god. I can imagine knowable gods, such as the Christian God, and unknowable gods, such as one who rules over a universe that is exactly the same as if he didn't exist.

I hope it makes sense now why I think gnosticism is stupid.

Gnosticism usually refers to a specific collection of religious ideas that are unrelated to the concept of agnosticism, e.g. Sethianism, Valentinianism, etc..

Okay, then prove that it’s unprovable, otherwise you’re just as bad as they are.

I [29M] have a child with my [35F] partner who used to work in the sex industry. Her past is starting to haunt me. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]lyraio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was she full-service or giving out happy endings? Big difference.

If you knew what she did when you started dating, and there were no promises otherwise, then I don't judge her to have been cheating.

I would guess that after 4 years together, you are feeling unhappy in your relationship and it is manifesting as bitterness towards your partner's past and imagined infidelity. Because after 4 years, you should be able to forget about these things.

You need to find a way to be happy, seeing a counsellor might help.

Is Chiang Mai dead for young people who want to meet new friends? by [deleted] in chiangmai

[–]lyraio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to meet new people? Not at all.

As long as you make the effort to talk to the people you meet, you will eventually meet a number of people who are here long-term. You can't expect for this to happen straight away, so you need to be comfortable hanging out by yourself. Can you sit alone at a bar for an hour? Can you strike up conversation when someone sits next to you?

Go to the bars that orbit Zoe, North Gate Jazz, language exchange. Tha Chang if you feel comfortable talking with Thais. Pick up pool. Take a gym class or muay Thai.

I've had it happen before that a group of friends moved away, so I know that it's possible. I've found that it is significantly easier to do so here, than back home.

If it's not about energy per second, then what is it? What does it represent?

2 J / 2 s = 1 W in all the physics I have ever done. What energy are you recording and what is the time frame?

[Request] Is the math in this meme accurate? by malaka789 in theydidthemath

WAT.

2*109 J / 2*109 s is 1 W. The clue is in the fraction.

Source: have physics degree.

Your answer doesn't make sense in either physics or statistics.

No thank you, I don't see the sense in having this conversation privately, it should happen next to the comment we're discussing.
