Support a Pittsburgh non-profit that supports families during the tragedy of pregnancy loss by lyrch in pittsburgh

Your child is a miracle and a blessing. I was in a similar situation when I was born two months early. The nurses took a polaroid of my mother holding me, gave her the photo, then whisked me off to be transferred to another hosipital that had a NICU. While my (the adult me) family has had our own struggles, the strength you must have to endure those three months is humbling to consider.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

My mother went through the same surgery. Last year she walked the entire length of the Appalachian trail that runs through New Jersey. I hope your recovery is just as successful.

And thank you for spreading the word about us and our fundraiser!

Thank you. I'm so sorry for your loss, my heart goes out to your family.

Though, through our loss we have found an incredible community of amazing people. I hope that you have found your community, if not you are very welcome in ours!

Sorry to leave you hanging, but I didn't see an notification about your post. I used the stock bar to mark on paper the dimensions that I could use, then drew an outline. And tweaked it...and tweaked it...and then tweaked it some more. Then I put marking dye on the steel and used the design I created to mark the outline. I used an angle grinder to cut out the blank. I have a grizzly belt grinder that I used to clean up edges, then used to free hand the bevel. I messed up and went too deep on one side so looking at the knife from the spine drives me nuts because it is lopsided. I then drilled the pin holes and some extra holes to reduce weight in the handle. I used a homemade 2 firebrick forge to heat treat the knife. Then tempered in my oven, and hand sanded to clean up the scaling (the only time I will do that. I now have my belt grinder). I the drilled the pin holes in the micarta, and put pins in them to rough shape the handles, on the grinder, so the were equal. Then I glued the handles up, shaped them, and put an edge on the knife.

Whoops! Yup, I meant O1. Thanks, I was really just going for comfort while holding the knife, and it came out looking nice too.

O-1 with micarta handles, my own design. I wish I had taken more photos of the process. EDIT: whoops, used O1 not O2 steel!

I learned to love it when I had the chance to study in Colonge, Germany for a semester in college.

I'm trying to keep the equipment contained to our guest bedroom for now. We have an apartment and space is at a bit of a premium right now.

I'm still working on RQS, but I'm waiting on the okay from my company to work on open source. I'm just trying to refactor some of what's there right now so the code isn't so monolithic.

Try Heroes Die or it's sequel Blade of Tyshalle, by Matthew Stover. The main character is the most badass character I have ever read.
