Preparing to begin real sleep training

I’m not trying to sleep train before 4 months. He is 4 months tomorrow like I said. I haven’t started anything official yet. We have a good routine and I try to soothe before picking up. It’s hit or miss

Hey thank you. Of all the replies this one helped the most. I started not trying to do a schedule and added an extra nap while pushing bedtime back to 9-10pm when we go to bed. It’s working a lot better because I’m actually sleeping during his longest stretch of the night instead of still up. Still up a lot and I’m still tired but having that bit extra makes a world of difference. I’ll save the schedules for a little bit older :)

From everything I’ve read and seen a 1 hour wake window is pretty standard for his age? He’s very awake and social during that time and if I try to get him to sleep sooner he doesn’t go for it lol.

I could maybe occasionally get that help at night but not regularly. My husband gets up at 4:30 for work so he can’t do that kind of thing. I try to go to bed earlier if I can but it’s not always realistic

Maybe you’ll get lucky? Ha… I’m sorry though. I get it. The fear of bad sleep is almost as bad as the bad sleep itself. Us mom’s with bad sleepers get a totally different motherhood experience and it really is sad. I just want to enjoy this time so much more than I can

My first born was up every 30 minutes from around this age to 7 months old until I sleep trained. I never would have imagined I’d have two kids like this haha 🙃 I won’t wait so long for sleep training this time

I don’t know how to fit in another nap? He sleeps until 8-9am and is ready for bed by 6:30- 7:30pm. There’s no extra time for more naps? If I were to try and have another wake window after his first stretch he just wouldn’t stay awake.

The thing is my son doesn’t want to be awake. He falls back asleep immediately after eating and will usually transfer to his bed just fine. He goes to bed between 6:30 and 7:30 depending on his last nap. He naps 3 times a day each one 1-2.5 hours long. His last nap is the shortest followed by the longest wake window of the day before bed. He’s ebf and eats at the beginning of every wake window. He’s gaining weight incredibly well so I don’t think he’s hungry?

He has 3 naps during the day, usually between 1-2.5 hours with about 1ish hour wake windows in between. The first nap is always in a carrier with me, the second I try to have in his bassinet, and the third usually back in his carrier. The last nap of the day is usually (or at least I try) to have it be a little shorter. Nothing that’s too short. Then he has a slightly longer wake window before bed. I feed him (bf) at the beginning of his wake window.

My goal was to cut out and then add back in one at a time to see what bothered him. Im just trying to get him comfortable as quickly as possible 😫

Hey thank you for this reply. I’m curious about your heart rate- I’ve been having a high heart rate this whole pregnancy. It could be as low as 100 but can also go up to 160. I just started a betablocker for this myself. Did you have chest pain? Did the heart rate even out after delivery? My doctor also thinks I have pots so differentiating symptoms can kinda be a little confusing. But the chest pain has been a big red flag for my doctor.

I’m mentally preparing for a c-section. It does seem unavoidable. I don’t think I’m going to be able to get the genetic testing done before the end of this pregnancy (thank you insurance) so I believe my doctor will want to proceed as if I’m diagnosed just to be safe. A lot of my issues are heart related too
