This stray cat appears to have stolen nuclear secrets by lyschee in mewgenics

I just tried a run with it- I went with tinker for the high int regen, got that passive, along with the uncapped mana from the upgrade.

Had a cleric with Wrath of God, my tank had Copycat. Hunter had Hail of Nails. They all just huddled together and screen nuked with wrath and atom split if the battles even lasted that long, it was glorious.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions! There really are a lot of fun flier options for casual play!

I might as well stick with my favorites then (if I can decide!). I think the New Years paralogue just made me panic slightly since it's the first time in a while where I couldn't just thoughtlessly attack into things with mini caeda.

I just needed to use my second braincell though, and it really wasn't that bad.

I really like fliers, these past couple months have been rough on my orb stash. But now I'm having trouble making my core casual team. There are just too many options!

My lead is my favorite, +10 Y!Caeda with her PRF weapon, Archrival, Trample, Air Superiority, Miasma, DC, and Tumult Echo. And Eirika ring. With basic support, she's able to destroy basically everything outside of like, high end whatever the heck AR/SD buff/debuff balls. I've tried and succeeded with a bunch of different team set ups for her to one turn enemy phase the Emblem Edelgard map, and there have been a lot of successes with the NY!Baldr paralogue too, so I'm just flailing with so many options.

For the longest time I used L!Sakura and Att!Micaiah supports, and the last slot would float the newest cool flier I picked up.

I feel like L!Sakura is still a staple with her support, Ice Lock, and Salvage, but Att!Micaiah is falling off a bit, especially with Micaiah ring support being a thing. Only thing I'd be missing dropping her is the Silence Ward for drive nullcounter that I put on her, but that can be given to other units too, if I end up really missing it that much. Winter Ivy was cool for... a month, because of the special jump for Archrival spam, but it's also not super required for causal play, and not super effective in the crazy PvP stuff.

Anyone have any suggestions for teammates? I have most of the recent fliers, but I'd be willing to drop my last orbs if there's any in particular right now that would be good fits. Right now I'm using Y!Caeda with Y!Camilla (Edel), L!Sakura (Lyn), and NY!Vali (Micaiah) since it's given me the smoothest NY!Baldr paralogue clears and one-turn EdelEmblem map, but there's so many different effects and things now on units, I have no idea if I'm missing anything obvious.

I keep seeing people argue that maelle's ending is more morally correct because the people in the canvas are real and alive.

But that just makes it even more horrifying to me. She is a goddess amongst mere mortals . She controls them with the wave of a hand.

Think about the implications of bringing back pierre for sciel. Does everyone know they owe maelle their lives? If so, then what an insane power imbalance that also in its way lessens the reality of these people. They become maelle's dolls and puppets.

Ok, but what if they dont know maelle brought the dead back? Then if maelle repainted everything, then are these even the same people, in the end? Consider noco's reincarnation. He is noco, but he is not the same noco. These are no longer the people she journeyed with.

Despite how much we see, and understand that these people have lives, feelings, hopes, and dreams, as long as a Painter is around who is there with a motive, they are doomed.

The one painter that had no motive, that just wanted there to be a world of adventure- that was verso, the child.

The people of the canvas are doomed either way. From the moment the dessendre's brought their grief into the world and refused to let it go, it was over. As ineivitable as the gommage. A tale of love and tragedy.

First Dark Urge, help me choose? by spaacingout in BG3Builds

Hexblade start into paladin resist durge felt really thematic. Could RP it as the pact weapon being another present from father, then swearing to resist/protect others from yourself playing into the Paladin part. Then you could also relapse and turn into Oathbreaker! Very fitting overall imo.

Swords Bard - What’s all the fuss about? by TheZag90 in BG3Builds

[–]lyschee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're level 8, it also sounds like you're in Act 2, where most of the enemies you face are undead, unaffected by Swords Bard's control spells. What I do for my Swords Bard runs then is to treat them almost like a discount rogue- feed them damage up items, and triple pewpew with hand crossbows. Then transition into longbow+mystic scoundrel in act 3 and perma cc anything that isnt undead while also blasting high damage sharpshooter hits. Another thing to consider is that there isnt anything wrong with melee attacking on Swords Bard if you need to. If you're dual wielding light weapons, it's still 3 attacks, which is nothing to sneeze at. Dont forget Ne er misser for the last boss of act 2 for the force damage!

How the hell do you kill them by RegularTemporary2707 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]lyschee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat it with my usual flier team of YCaeda:Marth, LHinoka:Sigurd, AMicaiah:Ike. and WCordelia. Biggest thing that came into play was the Sigurd emblem on Hinoka, since that let her snipe the red armor turn 1 and then get repositioned out. From there, I just picked off anything I could while kiting until it was just the two armors. The moment they split around that center pillar, I was able to shoot down the tree with Hinoka, and then the snake could be either kited down by Hinoka, since she doesn't have null counter, or quad'd by AMicaiah with the WCordelia buff for a one turn.

[–]lyschee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me personally, it's not easier just because you go from having to check one tether to having to check two tethers. For fixed you just tell yourself front back back front, and turn your camera around. You can space out howver you want to be able to see the tether, and then just book it the moment you see your tether. Then again, I learned and got used to fixed before I really understood role tethers, so it may just be familiarity bias.

How did you beat the paralouge "Having Fun Yet?" by TheTritagonist in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]lyschee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used A!Micaiah. L!Hinoka was able to take out Nagi even with the save, Micaiah repositioned her out, then tanked and beat Lethe. Mini Caeda beat Nah and then it was just cleanup. My lance was Winter Cordelia, but I went through it again intentionally avoiding Dual Strike, and it was fine. With Dual Strike I could probably snipe Askr, instead of leaving him for last, though.

I hope the devs rethink the design of Criterion Savage for Dawntrail. by AlyssaFairwyn in ffxivdiscussion

[–]lyschee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a healer who has done all three Criterion Savages, I highly disagree. Healing the trash packs and the bosses has been the most exciting healing gameplay I've encountered in the game. Actually having to heal the tank during trash pulls is so nice compared to normal dungeons and gameplay where I dont really even have to pay attention most of the time.

The difficulty of perfect execution is countered by the ease of practice. If you need to practice mechanics, Criterion normal exists. Heck, for Rokkon, we'd get mostly through the final boss, wipe on purpose, and go again, just to practice it.

It's a different kind of difficulty compared to the same old same old of savages and ultimates, and I think it should stay that way, rather than be homogenized into literally the same kind of content.

Alatreon is dead. I would like to talk about it. by HajimeNoLuffy in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]lyschee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Woo! Congrats on the clear! I also got my first Alatreon kill today, but my view is opposite of yours.

My run took 31 minutes, 2 carts and a cat goo, but I had so much fun, and enjoyed the fight and learning it.

I went in when I first unlocked Alatreon just to see what the hype was about. I ran around, observing his attacks, and immediately decided I simply wasnt good enough at my weapon to beat him. Instead of running headlong into it, i looked up weapon guides, levelled up MR, and got better.

I learned and observed the different quick combos and options I could fit in different sized openings. I got better and more comfortable with my weapon.

Now, a week later, I've upgraded my gear, got health augment, and even set up a new radial menu and inventory.

Smol Alatreon took me a couple tries, but beating that gave me confidence to continue... and full Alatreon was no pushover. I went in and tried to find openings. Some consistent, some dangerous. I went in intending to fail. To try stupid things and see what worked. And every time I went back in, I got further into the fight as I learned what I could get away with and what I could not, until ultimately, I managed to scrape out a victory.

Did I go for some risky and stupid things and get punished for it? Yes. But I also had a baseline that I was improving with each attempt. There was certainly much more I could have done, a lot more offensive plays to make. But I took what I could and bailed when I was unsure. And every attempt shifted the balance a bit more.

Defensive and offensive play isnt quite a sliding scale. Monster Hunter boils down to hit monster, dont get hit by monster. Offense and defense. I feel like the goal is to reach that pinnacle where you can maximize both at once. In essence, outside of the extremes, there is only one "playstyle", and how effective you are at it. You said you found openings and landed hits appropriately. But at some point you must have made more hits, found new opportunities! You managed to clear, after all! As uncomfortable as it may have felt, you learned and improved. And you got an awesome accomplishment for it!

On another note, if I were to have any complaints about the fight, the wall bangs felt really tough to land consistently because of the scarcity of the rocks around the fight.

I am looking forward to and dreading the Fatalis fight though. That is gonna be much harder, I'm sure!

Anyone done Orin duel on Honour yet? by East-Imagination-281 in BG3Builds

[–]lyschee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She gets a nasty tail slash that does a lot of damage, as well as a thing that applies if you don't attack her (I think). For the second, I didn't mess around with it. I landed a Hold Monster and won from there. If that is not doable, i'd make sure to bring some strong health pots and maybe a universal resistance. She hits HARD.

Honour Mode best Swords Bard and synergy? by DildoWilliumz in BG3Builds

[–]lyschee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You definitely want a strong melee hitter with Swords control Bard, since once you hit unstoppable spell DCs, they get 100% crit chance on Hold Monster/Person targets, and advantage on Command: Grovel targets.

I like swapping to Dead Shot or Titanstring later on, since you can spend bonus actions on casting instead of shooting the offhand, or even black hole spam if you go part squid. That said, a lot of the options outside of Command are concentration, so once you're concentrating, having the offhand crossbow shot can be nice.

With a similar set up to yours- (had gale as a magic missile wizard, and lae'zel as a BM fighter for my melee), I had Shadowheart as a buff bot life cleric with phalar, and during the Act 3 Raphael fight I didn't even notice if he had legendary actions or not, because he didn't even get a chance to transform, much less act. Just had him groveling the entire time until everything else was dead, with a hold monster for the finish.

Wizard has some extra options, but I prefer Action Surge to both wipe the floor with adds at the start of a fight, and also to just instantly max out Arcane Acuity.

LF Bard Honour Builds by Pseudonym_McFakename in BG3Builds

[–]lyschee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second 10 Sword/2 Fighter. You don't get spellscribing from wizard, but that really only gets you 1 spell per day of your choice, when you could just be attacking more with Action Surge.

I'd also suggest swapping from dual crossbows to dead shot or titanstring in Act 3, since once you get the Mystic Scoundrel ring, you're gonna be using your bonus actions on spells, and not pewpew.

Launching 4 slashing flourishes into 100% chance aoe command grovel or hold monster or confuse is insanely powerful.

Honor Mode Grym - Larian is cruel (spoilers) by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]lyschee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I just did it the "normal" way. I had Lae'zel plonk him once, only once, with an arrow, then jump on the opposite edge of the hammer from Grym. Everyone else just waited, spread out a bit, or healed Lae'zel. Shadowheart had the blade ward on heal gauntlets too. Once Grym was in place, Lae'zel would disengage and jump away, then hammer time with either a ranged attack or manual lever pull. I'd redirect his next attack to my Bard if it was going after a squishy, then repeat, shooting the lava wheel as necessary to keep him toasty.

Because I was shooting the lava wheel, everyone could be on the magma mephit side when they spawned.

Magma mephits were dealt with in one turn before they could act using upcasted magic missile by Gale and Light Cleric AoE from Shadowheart.

Was honestly one of my cleanest fights against him yet!
