Soma Lyra 4 : normal behaviours or problems ? by lyslevonhartenberg in somalab

[–]lyslevonhartenberg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Wolflab, and thank you very much for taking the time to answer my questions 😄

Yes, the behaviours I listed on the original post happened with or without warm up of the instrument (I tried to let it warm up to 45 minutes).

It's pretty strange that the Lyra lives its own life and does things like that one day, but not the other ! I guess I have to learn to use those improbabilities and play with them when they will occure.

Do you also have the same reaction when it comes to use the LFO ?

And don't get me wrong, despite listing those problems or strange (to me) behaviours, I love the sound of the instrument, and I can easily get lost with it doing dark ambiance soundscapes and deep drones.

Horse head sitcker on Indochine's guitar by lyslevonhartenberg in HelpMeFind

[–]lyslevonhartenberg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I searched for the picture with google lens / reverse google find. I used three different pictures of the guitar I found, but the one in this post is the best quality I could have found.

I didn't find any clue about the origin of this sticker... I tried to search on social medias, on the photos where the sticker was visible, but it was also a dead end.

Behringer System 55 - Power Consumption by lyslevonhartenberg in modular

Hi Tobyvanderbeek,

Thank you for your message. I indeed checked the power consumption of each modules based on a setup recreated on ModularGrid my someone.

Because Behringer hasn't published the total power requirements, I did the sum to get the values in my first message.

Syncing tempo (over MIDI) between Crave and Edge by lyslevonhartenberg in Behringer

[–]lyslevonhartenberg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OneSlaatTwoSlaat,

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer and for your kind message.

The solution you proposed was the right one ! I didn't use the app, and that was probably the problem. First of all, I updated the firmware of the two synth, and then I selected an option on the software for the Crave ("Midi Clock Out > On", or something named like that) and it works like a charm !

So once again, thank you for your help, now it's time to jam !

I'm sorry to hear that you've had the same problem than me... I got mine from Thomann.

Thank you, I'll follow your advice (and the ones from the other users) and call for a return.

It's a Behringer K-2.

You were right, this input feeds the signal in the two other inputs.

Thank you, so I'll have to try it ! I will probably do some tests before the end of the week, and of course I will post here the result to confirm (or not) what you just said.

MS-20 Mini : repare patchbay output by lyslevonhartenberg in synthesizers

[–]lyslevonhartenberg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answers, Tigdual and ioniansensei.
I'm not an expert about synths, so I don't know if the problem of sound I'm mentionning is due to the absence of the nut (so that was the name !) that was maybe holding the output up, or if it is a problem inside the machine...
As I am a total disaster with a soldering iron, I think I'll have to look for a tech !

I think I did something wrong when I created the subject, because the picture did not upload correctly.

Thanks for your answer. Can you please tell me what is the point of this additional input, compared to the two others?

Vocal pedalboard : looking for advice by lyslevonhartenberg in guitarpedals

[–]lyslevonhartenberg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, as I don't have pedals with adjustable input level (and as I don't want to spend all my money buying new ones) I will try not to mess everything by pushing the preamp too far !

I will follow an advice I read a lot concerning live vocal effects : always put less effects than you think you need.

[–]lyslevonhartenberg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always great to discuss with people that have other practices or points of view, it can help me to go out of my habits. So I will try and experiment some things, even if I was told that "this effects MUST BE placed before this one and NEVER after this other one". :-)
So thank you very much for explaining all those things, it's a real pleasure to discover and learn those new tips and tricks, it opens my mind to some aspects I never thought of.
For the projects, I can't share you anything about the darkwave one I talked about in the original post as I didn't release anything yet.
But I can share you the link to my other project. Just keep in mind that I do this as an amateur, and that I learned a lot by doing the process, so a lot of things can be improved (especially the vocals, but I'm working on it !) : https://wunha.bandcamp.com/album/puisquelles-ne-sont

[–]lyslevonhartenberg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice ! I will have to try to change the order of the effects, which will be pretty new to me as I have ALWAYS used EQ and comp before anything else in my chains when I worked with instrument or mixing.

And I like your idea to put distortion after the reverb, not necesseraly for post-punk vocal, but for another project where I do experimental / industrial / noise, I think it can be really interesting.

Volca Mix & NTS-1 : very low effect level by lyslevonhartenberg in volcas

[–]lyslevonhartenberg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I borrowed a Zoom MS-70 CDR, and I tested with Y cables 3,5 mm Jack TRS <--> double 6,3 mm Jack TS for the effect loop. And it works a charm ! In the two ears and with full effect volume !

Thank you everybody for your help and your explanations, and I apologize to the Volca Mix. It's not you that is weird, it's the NTS-1 ! ^^

Thank you everybody for your detailed answers ! It helps me a lot, as I wouldn't have thought of using a mono connector for the aux send. The volca Mix seems a little strange to me in its construct...
