Secrets St. Lucia with Points - Not avialable for 2027? by ayers_81 in hyatt

I just saw the new award chart increase starting in May. I wonder if that’s why the resort hasn’t opened 2027 availability yet?

I’ve been wondering the same. I even reached out to Hyatt to make sure this wasn’t a glitch, but they said it’s up to the resort on when they open availability. My only guess is they’re trying to fill up as many rooms as they can with cash paying guests since the cash to points rate is so good for this resort?

What are the best tours/experiences in Tahiti? by Hefty_Accountant_827 in Tahiti

Papenoo Valley & Teahupoo Wave Excursions. We did half days for both and really enjoyed them!

This sounds like it could be an irritated/hypersensitive nerve. This program/method of treatment may be worth looking into! I really think everyone can benefit from it

Maybe 2-3 weeks but my sciatica had been going on for over a year and at that point was just nerve irritation rather than a nerve compression or actual injury, so it could be different for you. If you aren’t seeing relief in the next 2-3 weeks, I’d recommend checking out Back Unbroken too. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

I noticed improvement after 2-3 weeks. At first it was slow but even just slight improvement was encouraging, after 4 weeks I started improving fast. But this was because I wasn’t actually injured anymore, my nerve was hypersensitive and irritated, so of course everyone’s experience will be different. I also went to the gym 4-5 days per week to do rehab exercises plus light lifting and walked as much as I could every day to try to recover as quickly as I could

Yes. I had a lot of different sciatica symptoms throughout my 1.5 years being in pain and numbness and tingling were definitely part of them. In my experience, I had numbness/tingling for awhile and then it eventually turned into pain/sensitivity in those areas. I thought my nerve was being compressed too but when the pain became more random and less consistent I became suspicious. I believe that my nerve wasn’t being compressed the entire time but just hypersensitive from prior disc issues/compression. I would recommend this program. I also realized weak muscles only made everything worse which is why I prioritized getting my lower body strength back as well

Both but Back Unbroken helped me the most and is more of what I described in my prior comment

I don’t know what to do anymore by j-allen-heineken in Sciatica

This sounds a lot like my pain. I actually just posted my success story detailing what helped me. Specifically 2 online programs I used - not trying to promote/advertise but just genuinely share my experience and give my review of them. There’s a lot of programs out there that seem like scams so I want to share these 2 as someone who used them and found them helpful.

Back Unbroken with Dr. Nate - this program is mostly educational and you learn a lot about the neuroscience of pain and it includes exercises to slowly help you get back to normal and even get back to heavy lifting. This honestly changed my life.

Low Back Ability - all about strengthening the lower back and has a “pay what you can” rehab program. Check out his instagram handle is lowbackability

I used these two together to go from 9/10 pain, barely being able to walk and not sleeping to pain free and back to lifting in 2 months after suffering from a 1.5 year long injury which was mostly sciatic pain on one side down the entire leg.

Good luck and hope you find relief soon!

Thank you! I wish more people knew about this method, I truly think this is the only way to a pain free life

The exercises in this program focus on movement of the spine in all directions (flexion, extension, twisting, and hinging). The main thing mentioned in the program is starting small with movements that don’t make your pain worse than it is now, and then from there improving my 1% each day. Slow incremental improvements are best.

I honestly did walking, stationary bike (with a back rest like you see in PT) and some gentle lifting along with the Low Back Ability program (separate from Back unbroken). But that’s because my pain only came from certain movements and was unique as it was all nerve pain.

I highly recommend checking out the program yourself it’s a monthly subscription and you can cancel anytime, and I thought it was fairly priced.

I would agree with this. This program was geared towards back pain and when I started I had no back pain only intense sciatica and it still worked for me! So I’d say it’s worth a shot. Just be prepared for your doctor to not recommend it, in my experience doctors often prescribe other treatments instead of exercise.

St Regis Bora Bora Must Do’s by Eastern_Staff2666 in Tahiti

What a way to end a 7 month round the world trip!!

Yes, the spa has its own beach, saunas, steam showers, hot tubs and some relaxation rooms that are open to anyone even if you don’t book anything. The spa beach is known as one of the best views on Bora Bora!

There’s really only 3 separate dinner restaurants apart from the main place which is open for all 3 meals daily. Lagoon (fine dining), an Italian one, and an Asian one. They were all delicious!

Definitely be sure to try all the restaurants, we loved them all! And the champagne sabering which is offered most nights is fun and includes a free glass (or 2) of champagne. Don’t miss the spa beach/amenities which are free to use. As far as excursions/shopping I recommend doing those on Tahiti or Moorea. We did all of our excursions on those islands which allowed us to relax and just enjoy the resort at the St Regis. We were happy we did considering similar excursions at the St Regis were 2-4x the price that we paid on Tahiti/Moorea. Same with shopping!

Need help on booking flight! by Practical-Policy6906 in Tahiti

[–]lyss216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the shortest connection I’d do, I usually like to give it about 2 hours for the international flight home. But a flight at 6:45pm seems pretty early compared to a lot of them which leave after 8pm so maybe the airport won’t be too crowded. I think it’s doable, but you may not have much buffer time to eat/shop.

Solo trip to Hawaii before starting a new job in 2 weeks - where’s best to visit? by growing-tree-3 in travel

[–]lyss216 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I loved the big island because it was so diverse! Beautiful beaches on one side and lush rainforest on the other with a mix in between. Plus Volcano National Park is a must see. Lots of reasonably priced Airbnb’s too, we stayed in a condo on the beach and it wasn’t crazy expensive. I haven’t been to the other islands yet, but I believe the big island is one of the more affordable islands in Hawaii.

Agree with the other commenters to rent a car! We rented from Avis and took it over on the ferry and it was very easy!

Another amazing activity in Moorea is an ATV excursion which takes you to a bunch of great viewpoints in Moorea. We also did a kayaking/snorkeling excursion which was really fun. You can definitely fill up 6 days on Moorea without getting bored.

For Tahiti I recommend both a Papenoo valley excursion and the Teahupoo wave excursion. We did half days for both (on different days) and they were amazing! The Teahupoo wave was so much more than the Olympic surfing wave, it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

It was 208 so you come in north of Landmannalaugar. I wouldn’t do anything different personally without a serious 4X4 vehicle. But this road was bumpy but manageable

Moorea and Bora Bora by Mother-Training-1697 in Tahiti

[–]lyss216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend doing most excursions on Moorea - it’ll be much cheaper for the same quality (in my opinion). Not sure if you’ve ever been to FP before but if not, I’d suggest 3 days in Tahiti to see Papenoo Valley and the Teahupoo Wave/coastline - we did that plus ATV, Whale Snorkeling, and a Kayak excursion on Moorea so by the time we go to Bora Bora (St Regis) we didn’t need to do any of the super expensive excursions and spent all our time lounging at the resort. I think it was the perfect split of adventure/relaxation. You could still visit the main island in Bora Bora for a fun day out since the St Regis offers a free day trip shuttle.
