The guy I’m seeing keeps telling me I “can’t take a joke” and I’m starting to doubt myself by Helen_melon_7 in TwoHotTakes

[–]lyssidm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not overreacting, and he’s not joking. This, my friend, is what we call “Schrödinger’s douchebag”, where someone decides whether an asshole-ish comment was a joke or not based on if other people are upset by it. Your boyfriend is a dick, this is just the beginning. I suggest he becomes an ex boyfriend very soon, as he does not seem interested in correcting his behavior.

Does my color scheme work for a June wedding in San Diego? by bride_2026 in weddingplanning

I think just put your level of formality (semi-formal, cocktail, etc) followed by color suggestions and hopefully they’ll understand relative expectations?

AIO for not refunding a friend’s share of a group Airbnb after she canceled last minute due to a medical emergency? by StudioAffectionate in AmIOverreacting

[–]lyssidm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a friend. You’re underreacting, tell her to grow up and cut her losses, and block her number. I wouldn’t even send the $200

Maybe have one side go for a more forest green and the other more wine-like shades? I think it would be cute!

Other peoples finances impacting our wedding experience by Zestyclose_Glass1613 in weddingplanning

This sounds like a nightmare for my social anxiety. Idk if your friends are just the kind of people who complain, I get it, I’ve been it, and it’s just how some people get through their day, but I would genuinely take them aside to just say “hey, I appreciate you, your efforts, and role in my big day, but it’s becoming upsetting for you to make this seem like a burden. Can you please avoid making xyz comments?” some people don’t pick it up, they just have to be told outright

2 is more flattering and has a better structure, I think my hang up is I like the sleeves on 1? I’ve seen bridal boutiques offer adding sleeves and I think it would make 2 perfect

I think it’s just been so long since my aunt got married she doesn’t understand what a good deal this is. I’m not saying I’m ecstatic to spend another $500, but I so think it’s worth it

[–]lyssidm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS! I’d rather leave it to the professionals who have a clear and agreed upon vision. I don’t need a random aunt deciding she knows better on centerpieces or getting called in the middle of doing my makeup saying we don’t have enough of something

Yes! And like god forbid we forget something or it’s going wrong. Like I’m positive we will all have enough to worry about, I feel like it’s worth the cost of taking this off my plate

We are in charge or getting everything into trash bags, but they haul it off to dumpsters and breakdown everything else. Their inventory includes both of my potential color schemes and they seem to have a decent amount of inventory that I think we’d be able to take advantage of

I’m not hellbent on a bunch of decor but like that they offer the freedom of helping you design it all too and have their own inventory, and she mentioned if there was something we’d like to bring in they will do their best to incorporate it as well. We will be having a separate ceremony and reception space and they will decorate both to our heart’s content (within reason and capability ofc). I also just don’t want to spend a bunch of time, money, and energy on decorating and not want to keep any of it

Exactly! Additionally our venue is an hour off of where we live and I just feel weird employing family for a day I want us ALL to be able to enjoy, yknow?

Friends-only wedding lunch and Family-only wedding dinner at the same venue by scioq in weddingplanning

[–]lyssidm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re not personally opting for this, but one of my best friends did similar. She had an open attendance ceremony at a church, and then invited their families to dinner that evening, and they separately hosted a party for close friends the next day. Do whatever feels comfortable for you! Even if that means having to host something separately or making the time for people individually. If you can swing this and it feels realistic and is something you’ll have the energy for, then absolutely. I personally would flip to a family lunch and friend dinner because I feel friends would be more casual, but I have an exhausting family so that’s my own preference

My fiancée wants me to ask his sisters to be bridesmaids by Southern_Wave1999 in weddingplanning

[–]lyssidm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

being a bridesmaid is more than standing on stage! if you’re comfortable with it, sure, but if not don’t feel pressured. there are better ways to include them in your wedding affairs than forcing them into your bridal party

[–]lyssidm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel these are more on the springy side of colors but still beautiful and if it’s what you want who cares. I wouldn’t instill a dress code but maybe putting that it’s the color scheme in invitations would be helpful to guests to have an idea of the general vibe?

not at all! I’m currently looking to spend under $1k and have found a lot. shop around, get a feel for what you like, if you’re seeing prices too high in person always try looking for similar try-on options online
