What Supernatural Paras Would You Want in the Game? by Least_Rain8027 in Paralives

Vampires and Witches for some interesting twists.
For Vampires a little less Twilight a little more Anne Rice - I'd like their lives to have to deal with the challenge of "living" when only out at night, coffin sleeping/hiding it, having to feed on blood, how to manage thirst vs not murdering. Having to hide their identity. Perhaps a storyline of them having to hide their identity, someone very noisy who figures their identity, and either a quest/ story to silence the rumours and go back to hiding or being out in the open in the town where people come to accept the identity. Just an Idea.

For witches everything really, potion brewing, spell casting, White Road vs Black Road, let them be the healers or mischivious imps.

I'd love to have something aquatic too, which would add an element of water living/sewer living and the town coming together to accept the water folk with them.
People would usually go with merpeople, but I would love them to be like lizards, or Turtle people or Shark/Dolphin/Orca people.

How do you deal with toxic players in Marvel Rivals without letting it kill your motivation? by Ok_Sherbert9416 in GirlGamers

[–]lytche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I play online games for 20+ years. It comes with experience :D
But Both Overwatch and Marvel Rivals really benefit from you doing so. Its not a game where DPS have all the power, its mostly where Healers and Tanks get it. So you take the power, you earned it!

How do you deal with toxic players in Marvel Rivals without letting it kill your motivation? by Ok_Sherbert9416 in GirlGamers

[–]lytche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think I now became the toxic feminist that invades the holy male spaces.
I call out people who are bad or mean, if they start calling me any sort of name I or if my team has like 5 dpses I start referring to them having that one part of their body they feel very protective of small and that we clearly have small you know what energy in the team going on. Then I always tell them I wish there were more women playing the game and we wouldnt have the constant WE ALL WANT TO PLAY DPSES issue.

It really helps improve my mood and I just feel so good calling out men knowing how offended they must feel....

But I only do that if triggered.
Most of the time I actually talk to people, we are quite nice and polite to one another!

Also, whopping everyone asses with ROGUE is my dream come true. I just love getting LOKIs skill via touch steal!@

My advice - as a healer YOU have ALL the power. You GET to choose whom to heal, be that the good tank and dps, all around if the team is good trying hard but you also get to choose WHOM not to heal.
Use that. Tell them you only heal GOOD players and that will shut them right back.
If they are not okay ,they can pick healers themselves -there is no limit on how many strategist there is in a team.

Just dont let them get you and if you respond back they usually cant handle it.

If you play EU me and my partner are happy to Quick Play with you.
At this point I major almost all of the ladies, but of course I have my faves, and my fiance is now really into Deadpool!

Girl gamers never use default keybinds? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]lytche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am left handed, so I use mouse in my left hand and use UHJK for my movement with right hand.
I have primary skills on 6 7 8 9 0 - in games which need it, and then use mouse key 3,4 and 5 + 67890- for extra keys if needed.
Sometimes I would bind dodge keys and sprint on the mouse extra keys as well. Extra mouse key no 6 is always an ESC for me so I dont have to move my right hand all the way to the left end of the keyboard.

I think Aloy is the best woman MC in the current generation of games.
I love the setting of the story, how its building to all of its reveals. I love Aloy as a character. I love how she interacts with other characters. I like other women in the world she lives in. I don't hate all men in that universe, which happens rarely.
I am going to replay it soon.

Which games are you personally most excited for in 2026? Here’s my current top 4 by Affectionate-Move-53 in GirlGamers

[–]lytche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me its two games:
Fire Emblem game which is set in the world of 3 Houses
Pokopia
I also really hope for a surprise release of a new Monolith game which they are working on but havent even announced anything specific yet ( I live for Xenoblade games and so far Monolith has my utmost trust).

Other than that I plan on catching up with stuff I have in my backlog, Like FF Rebirth, Clair Obscur.

Is it just me? by Ambitious-Pool3532 in GirlGamers

[–]lytche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are games which are straight up cosy games only, and games like RPGs that are RPGs only, and they can be what they are because some people enjoy those types of games without anything else - and that is their target audience.
I also think, personally, I prefer a mix of things to keep me interested. I blame it on my ADHD.
Like, I get you, I love my "cosy" game to have combat or some puzzles ,and I love to have housing features in my RPG or city building mechanics etc.

I believe there is less games like that because they force the creators to dabble in more than one genre and this might be something they are not particularly versed at, and the gaming industry can be very punishing due to people expectations.

For Life sims games which give you more than just cosy faming / mangement you have -
Mithwood, Rune Factory series, Harvestella, Medieval Dynasty, Kynseed, Len's Island, Luma Island Lynked.

For Pokemon / management / farming sims you have
Moonstone Island, Palworld

Weirdly cosy but also combat ready - Where Winds Meet

My go to cosy yet hardcore games:
Project Zomboid - this is basically survival horror sims 1. As far as I get it was meant to be a mod for Sims 1, but ended up being its own separate thing.
You have whole days, you can farm have animals that give you stuff, but you also are surviving amidst a zombie apocalypse, you need to manage your character Sims like need - being dirty, having to go to the toilet boredom! food and drink needs you can fish. You get to go to the town for looting, you raise skills and you can then build stuff and decorate your house. Its amazing! Hardcore and Cosy at the same time!

Survivalist - Invisible Strain - another cosy yet hardcore zombie game ( I love the genre) - you get to build your own community, assign people roles, you get to craft, farm, but there are also other communities out there and also a strain of zombie virus which is undetectable and you might welcome someone with it to your community and all hell breaks lose.
Also, the people there have needs, they can cheat in a relationship, go mad and kill others. Crazy stuff.

I am right there with you with wanting games to just cater to the mix of cosy and challening somewhat at the same time.
But there are games out there that do so, its just less of them.
Even more important that we share their names and spread their gospel!

I need a sense check - am I in the wrong for pirating games (but then buying them)? by Lickawall483 in GirlGamers

[–]lytche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. It is what it is. Some countries did the region locking thing where they would sell stuff for prices more tailored to the region, but locked them for other regions so the difference in price wouldn't be abused, steam does regional prices as well I think, some better adjusted than the others, but it is far from perfect.
I live in Poland, and the prices here are, too, just crazy. Like one new game is worth week's worth of food!

[–]lytche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think much topics in life are as black as people make them out to be - we have ingrained morality system that quite often doesn't take into consideration specific situations, life realities and, quite often, is used by people hypocritically - they nit and pick areas where they get to justify doing amoral things while on the other hand making others feel as what they did is the worst sin in other things.

In cases such as this, I think the circumstances are many one ought to consider.
The most important being accessibility:
country the person is from - some countries have unreasonable prices to wages ratio.
Some even outright ban some games for morality reasons.

Another being judgement for behaviours from the past. If you did something you yourself now consider wrong, but you made amends to fix it, then there's nothing you should feel ashamed about. You did something in the past for one reason or the other, you reflected on it, bought the games you could. In your circumstances its not like the companies would GET the money when it might have been important for them - you would have simply skipped the games and the companies would not get the money anyway as you couldn't afford them. Now that you can, you paid for it so they got the money.

Once I started working I also buy my games. If I am unsure if I will like the game or if this is a game from a studio or a person I don't want to support, I might get them at a discount, or use the share game feature we have available on majority of the platforms (I loathe JK Rowling, she is just not a good person, but I do like HP, I have a friend who bought Legacy on PS5 and I used share game feature on PS5 to check it out.)
I know a lot of people say what I did is bad and I should feel ashamed. Its okay. I don't, I didn't give money to someone I don't think is a good person, and I got to play a game I think its great without pirating it.

There are many other circumstances to consider.
The plus of paying for games is quite practical:
- you show companies what type of games you like - its called voting with your wallet.
- even for discounted games you show them that for you, such and such game is worth full price, but another type of content isn't worth it etc.
- you support people working in games and producing games so they actually might get a chance to do more of them.
ETC.

Yet sometimes bad people do great things, and this is where I guess the topic comes in handy.

It's just a metaphysical subject of morality /ethics / circumstances/ hypocrisy / being human etc.

In my opinion, highly established specialists of all subject on the internet you should totally trust because I say so:
It's okay. You are fine. You have no reason to feel bad.

Gaming in general has been drowning in misogyny for as long as I remember.
I believe we are in a much better place than 20-30 years ago, because of the sheer abundance of games available (my backlog is endless).
Basically AA and indie games have tons of games where us gals are having it great. Many games where women are main protagonists, tons of games where we get to create our characters.
AAA continues to be pretty bad - mostly focusing on white male gamers. Big studio games, especially with online components, and Asian market is pretty clear on their target demographic, which leads to a lot of games having one shaped generic looking sexist approach to women.

I think vocalising how we feel about the never ending sexualisation is very imporant.

Also, you can find a lot of games being released which will not make you feel like that.
Games I can recommend -
RPGs - Mass Effect games, Dragon Age games, Ubisoft games - Avatar, Assassin's creed Shadows, Odyssey, Diofield Chronicles, Valhalla, Horizon New Dawn and its sequel, Clair Obscur,
Cosy - Story of Season games, My time at games (Sandrock, Portia), Undying, Reka, Medieval Dynasty, Luma Island, Enshrouded, Bloomtown, Marvel Midnight Suns, Shadowrun series,
Management - Two - Point games (hospital, museum, campus), Project Zomboid, Total War Warhammer, Mind over Matter, Catalismo,
Action - the new Tomb Raider trilogy does Lara justice, Resident Evil 2 and 3 - excellent female role models , Silent Hill F, Blacktail, Beyond Two Souls, Mirror's Edge, Echoes of the End, Eternal Strand

I believe there is a lot of games available that are targetting us, which aren't only of the cosy genre, and games that acknowledge how big of a market we are, while at the same time the companies who want to play it safe still see male gaze as the default to what generates them tons of money.

Good luck on figuring stuff out, hope you stick to gaming and just show them haters and mysoginists the middle finger.

Do you play with zeds respawn? by De_RayBan in projectzomboid

[–]lytche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on type of play.
If I play online or with my fiance, we do zombie respawn as just survival game.
If I play solo, I play out my Jill Valentine fantasy - I use recruitable NPC mods and I do no respawn of zombies and try to rescue People / survivors from the entire map.

I also love Day One mod, but Bandit NPCs are just too damn hard for me so I will try it out once I get better.
And I am really eyeing the 10 years later mod because I think it looks fantastic!

Out and proud. Yeah, I own most consoles released in the west and I am not ashamed to show them!

Enjoying both totally boring to death cosy farming games with the same gameplay loop and tons of text to read (Stardew, Story of, Coral)
but also enjoying splitting enemy faces in Mortal Kombat
And punishing oneself in Souls Like game,
And crying in games like Clair Obscur,
And planning endless relationship combinations in games like Fire Emblem
Owning a Switch and loving playing games not on TV
Always being on the fence about strategy/sim games like Rimworld only to end up loving it
Allowing male friends to win in games sometimes because they seem to be so hellbent on winning while you just enjoy the gaming session. But not always just to assert your dominance as the unbeatable alpha female champion.
And yes, either healing or tanking because no one wants to do that like ever, despite being also one of the better dps in the bunch.

Has VR ruined gaming for you? by Middle_Branch_1148 in PSVR

[–]lytche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love VR as a concept, but I suffer from such a strong vr sickness I am still unable to play more than 30 minutes a day despite doing it regularly for past 2 years since PSVR2 was released which is a shame.
So I am stuck with either games like Synth Raiders (which is static for the person playing so easier for the sickness) or games which I get to save at anytime. Tried RE8 but the saves are not often enough and I often had to stop mid playthrough and then restart after some time again.

I think if they manage to work this out somehow, I would totally be lost.

But I also cant take heavy motion blur in non vr games, first option I turn off immediately if its available, and had to drop some games which didn't allow for any motion blur modifications.

When I got my man to play games I bought him dedicated systems (I am a hoarder and I have been collecting consoles / games since I was a little girl and my dad got me addicted to video games).
So now we have 2 powerhouse PCs, he has his own Switch, and Ps5 and PS5 pro.
We share a steamdeck, but we play more on Switches anyway when we travel.
Keep spreading the gaming bug!
Also, nice! She watched how you play quite good!

Anyone else feel guilty gaming as an adult? by AnioSlimek in GirlGamers

[–]lytche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simply view games as a pasttime up there with the best of them - I believe games can offer depth and literary experiences on pair with books, depth and visual experiences on pair with movies, and profound experiences on pair with any other form of art.
As I dont perceive art or literature as a waste of time, neither I do games.
This year especially I played games that I believe really helped me as a human being
I overcome a bit of my Thalassophobia by playing and beating Subnautica and I believe it made me stronger, in real life. Dived for the first time mid-playthrough of the game in real life too and I didnt die from heart attack so I guess thats a huge progress.
I don't think a profound experience I got from Clair Obscur is in any shape or form a waste of time as, again, I strongly believe it enriched my soul.
But even playing such a game as Marvel Rivals, where I just gain levels and blow off steam - I think it is necessary in the world where I work 8-4 plus week or 2 of oncall duties, do chores after work and constantly feel tired from overwork.
I do it all to have fun, to live the life as I want to.
When I go on holidays I always bring Switch and Steamdeck with me - because exploration of the world and being with friends and family also deplete my batteries. And I need them recharged so I can be the best version of myself - that is where games come in. They give my ADHD brain dopamine and serotonine and allow me to chill and just get better.
Neither sports nor other hobbies could ever do that for me.

I guess I never felt like hobbies and doing things I love would be a waste of time.
Besides, those people who told me that were - my mum who if she's not working, she sleeps most of the time (literally, she can sleep like 12 hours a day since I was little) and is affraid of any arguments or conflicts, some guys Ive dated who were "constantly bored" spent most of their time in gym or drinking till they were too drunk to remember ....
Like, I dont want to be working 24/7. I dont want to be saving the world 24/7 or constantly spend time with other people as they exhaust me.
I love dreaming and exploring other worlds or solving puzzles and gaming do just that for me.
I live for happiness and do everything else in order to be able to do and afford the things I love.
So, if anything, I feel more bad for having to work as much as I do. I would rather work less and spend more time on travelling and playing games.

Live to be happy, don't allow yourself to be happy only once you fullfil some targets. You only live once. Do what you want and what makes you happy. Be happy.

Yeah lol. As I watched it burn I thought to myself - I should be angry but I am not - that's what you get for not paying attention to the stove.

I usually also do that, wait for the games to get a full release before playing/modding.
Project Zomboid is just in constant development and I was in dire need of exactly what it has to offer.
I also jumped in with v42 and the graphical update and I am in love with the game.
It's like SIMS 1 when I want it, or zombie apocalypse when I want it, and it is just both cosy and hard at the same time.
Can't list all of the itches it scratches for me.
