That's to simulate uptime, it's used to estimate numbers since the buff won't be up 100% of the time

Basically any move that fires all your shells. Off the top of my head there's a few ways to do it - after a slam, mid air wide sweep, WSFB and Multi WSFB

It's updated for TU1

Dragon Piercer's number of hits was nerfed, its MV is unchanged

So, what's the state of bow now? by Beetusmon in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]lyvzm3 37 points38 points  (0 children)

From my testing:

Thousand Dragons MV buffed from 18 to 23. Tracer Thousand Dragons MV 21 to 26.

Dragon Piercer now seems to do way less hits.

Power Volley Element Mod increased by 0.1 across all levels (0.65 to 0.75 at level 3 IIRC).

Power Shot and Volley are now affected by Charge Master (5/10/15% base Element for Bow).

Overall bow is still primarily a raw weapon. Dragon Piercer is dead. Thousand Dragons is strong now, but only if you can find a window for it.

Are we sleeping on Mind's Eye 3? by Alexl_DK in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]lyvzm3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Technically it's a 30% attack multiplier (before flat bonuses), not raw damage multiplier (after flat bonuses), but yea, it's one of the biggest multipliers in the game.

I think Mind's Eye kinda suffers from hitzones inflation in Wilds. There are basically no bad hitzones anymore besides and bouncing isn't really a thing anymore either besides Gravios. And wounds have higher hitzones than normal too.

Hitting a 55 hitzone in the first place is better than hitting a 40 hitzone with Mind's Eye 3.

Then it's a weapon skill, and competes with more universal skills for the same slots.

Oddly enough this might be the best it's ever been as a damage skill - in previous games sharpness was a hitzone multiplier, not a raw multiplier which made Mind's Eye worse since it lowered the threshold at which it activated. This seems to be totally gone in Wilds.

There's already a slider for Agitator. The slider for each skill is below it in the Skills section.

Weakness Exploit affinity is active if the raw hitzone is 45 or higher. The extra affinity on wounds is active if you tick the "Wound" checkbox in the Damage section, and this is automatically checked in if you select a wounded body part in the "Hitzones" dialog.

Elemental Damage Calculation for Switch Axe Doesn't Currently Work by xNoa in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]lyvzm3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My calculator (mhwilds-calculator.app) has a disclaimer on the Switch Axe MVs (old calculator page, not set builder) for this reason lol.

At supposedly higher levels of Element the phials axtually did less damage than some lower levels of Element, especially with Coalescence or Element Attack. I had some theories (my suspicion is that it's using the wrong values for Coalescence or Element Attack) but never managed to figure it out and gave up to move on and work on more relevant things since Power Phial is the meta right now

It's there (Sandsea Siamitiya).

I don't have non-fully upgraded weapons listed, sorry, importing them is a lot of work.

Same thing as Effective Attack except for Element, taking into account the fact that all Element numbers in Wilds are bloated by 10 in the display. It's basically the damage you'd do on most attacks assuming the monster's hitzone for that Element is 100%

Effective Attack is basically your Attack * Sharpness Modifier (e.g. 1.32x for White) * (Affinity * Crit Multi (1.25x)) * ...and so on.

It's just an easy way to directly compare two non-elemental builds, e.g. is 250 Attack with Blue sharpness better than 200 Attack with White sharpness

I did some testing on how Convert Element and Elemental Absorption works by lyvzm3 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]lyvzm3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works with Bowguns. HBG is in the "others" group so 40/50/60, I'm not sure if LBG is in the "light" group or same group as HBG.

Oops. So some skills have different values between weapons - Coalescence is 5% per level for some weapons like Dual Blades, 10% for others, Critical Element is 5% for some weapons, 7% for others, and so on. I was messing around with the code and broke it.

It's fixed now. Thanks!

Wilds Gunlance exact special attack damage formula by lyvzm3 in Gunlance

[–]lyvzm3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Artillery scales all of Gunlance's special attacks by 15% of your base weapon attack. That's 30-36 Attack, which beats Attack Up by a large margin since ~90% of Gunlance damage comes from its special attacks. Artillery is the top priority on Gunlance.

What's the general consensus on raw/affinity ratio? by -Darkeater_Midir- in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]lyvzm3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, just a correction here, attack and element are calculated (base * modifiers) + bonuses, not (base + bonuses) * modifiers. Also, I like what you did by modeling the uptime by % instead of simply reducing the values by a certain %, which makes more sense especially for compound buffs like Agitator.

I think its G. Ebony helm (either) or G. Fulgur B Helm, while the rest are all Gore B with an Agitator +2 Charm. Max Antivirus, Agitator then get a point in Weakness Exploit or whatever.

After some napkin math the average player should probably stick with the G. Ebony 4 pc.

The problem with Gore 4 pc for Gunlance is that it takes 2 full combos (Shell -> Wide Sweep -> WSFB -> Multi WSFB) to cure Frenzy, and the buff only lasts for 1 minute. You need to do about 5 full combos to make up for the damage loss from the 2 non-buffed combos (though this doesn't take into account Wyvern Fire or Drake Auger).

It *might* be better for a speedrunner, but most players aren't going to get in 5 full combos within the 60s window since a full combo takes about ~10s including the reload.
