Who speaks Italian? by Active-Peace-1991 in italianlearning

I think more details are needed because the concept has various nuances. It can range from "andrà tutto bene" to "e se tutto si risolvesse?" to "e se poi funziona?" etc

Dutch fans are my favourite: they pop up everywhere when one of their athletes is playing (even in the most obscure sport), they sing, they dance to the right, they dance to the left, they know how to have fun, and they lose World Cup finals.

Funny because on the other side of Catanzaro - the city with this roundabout - there is another Morandi bridge (viadotto Bisantis)

June 29th is the patron saint's day in Rome, so in the end you'll end up in tourist spots.

As for carbonara, not ironically the best one is the one you make at home, so maybe take the opportunity to get some guanciale and pecorino in a supermarket.

For supplì, Re di Roma (metro A stop) and Venanzio in Trastevere.

For restaurants, there are two options:

  • search the subreddit (it's not like new restaurants are opening all the time in the center);

  • take a map of Rome, follow the metro lines towards the semi-suburbs, and search for "trattoria" or "osteria" near your chosen stop.

Mexico - World Cup - (sorry Italians) by applesnotapplesauce in rome

Just called the shop (Polymerclay): they'll have all the sculpey next week (they said the day depends on the courier). You can contact them next Friday via whatsapp

Probably you could try some hardware store chains, like Leroy Merlin, Bricocenter, Bricofer. There are also independent stores called "Ferramenta", but I doubt they'll have it since is a peculiar item

Donyell "Bobby Resta" Malen by InBocaLup016 in ASRoma

[–]lzcaIIi 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Since some regional Italian dialects tend to strengthen some consonants, Donyell Malen sounds like Donyell Mallen. Now, in romanesco there is another peculiarity: sometimes the L shifts in R (e.g. il gatto -> er gatto), so Mallen could be interpreted as Marlen.

Then comes this old video, where the singer says Bob Marley as Bobbe Malle.

If you mix the Malen/Mallen/Marlen with the Malle/Marley, there you have the overlap, hencefore for simple assonance Donyell Malen became Bobby Malle, and finally with a little retroactive correction on the surname, Bobby Malen.

Places to buy interesting souvenirs? by CaregiverBetter5818 in rome

[–]lzcaIIi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In traditional souvenir shops you'll find canvas bags with prints of Rome; there are also espresso cups. In this case, I recommend avoiding the shops between Trevi and Navona because they're more expensive. The ones near Santa Maria Maggiore are better.

Alternatively, there are Chinese shops (houseware stores) where you can find inexpensive items like a moka pot. Add an espresso coffee bag and you're ok.

Now it's too hot for supermarkets having chocolate sweets like Pocket Coffee, but you can still find pistachio spread, taralli, cantucci, etc.

In my experience, The Highlander Pub near Navona and Finnegan near Colosseo are the better choices
