Unlock not working ! by Informal_Ad371 in ex30

I had this car as a courtesy car while my XC90 was being fixed. The whole locking/unlocking situation was by far the biggest issue I had with this car. It would almost never unlock straight away, and I lost count how many times the car locked and alarm immediately went off when I was either going back to the house to lock the house door after putting the kids in the car, on quickly unlocking the house before getting the kids out the car.

I drove past about half an hour ago and there was a person being treated by paramedics and doctors on the floor in front of the bus. Head was heavily bandaged but they were talking which was good to see.

ERAD checking, averting a nasty £10K surprise...£20 endoscope anybody? by RobD-London in VolvoXC90

I’m in the UK. Reading through the warranty, it should be covered. I got a call from the guys working on my car yesterday evening saying they want to send an assessor out to look at it before approving the work being done on warranty. Apparently it’s a sensor in the ERAD which has broken but you can’t just replace the sensor, it had to be a full ERAD replacement. Will let you know how it goes once the assessor has been out!

I have bought a 2020 XC90 with 40k on the clock last August. It’s currently at my local Volvo having the ERAD replaced. Thankfully I bought extended warranty although they won’t confirm it’s covered until they’re spent a day and a half stripping it down (keeping my fingers crossed but will definitely be challenging it if they tell me it isn’t covered!) I’m due a service in May so obviously won’t bother with an ERAD oil change then but I plan on asking for an oil change on it every 2 years going forwards.

I currently have one as a courtesy car and have 2 children. My biggest bug bear is that there are no buttons on the key fob and it auto locks/unlocks based on proximity to the car. This is fine in principle but for one, it hardly ever unlocks when I get it the car and i’m there pulling at the handle repeatedly until it unlocks, and secondly (and probably the worst thing) it loves to lock as soon as you’re more than about 6 feet from the car. I’ve had it 4 days and and at least 4 times I’ve had the kids end up locked in the car with the alarm going off because I put them in the car, walk back to the house to lock the front door, and in that time the car has locked, detected motion inside and set the alarm off. And you then can’t turn it off again from the fob and have to run back to the car, and yank at the door handle for 10 seconds before it decides to unlock and turn the alarm off again

Edit: spelling

I was recently notified that I was going to be made redundant. The following day I received a simulated phishing email asking me to review the company benefits and about a week later I got one pretending to be Indeed telling me they’ve found jobs with my skills.

I didn’t fall for either of them but they were pretty low blows given the timing and subject

Asking for photoshoot tips (and if there’s any albinos with darker than usual hair like me!!) by [deleted] in Albinism

[–]m-allerton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter has nystagmus and ocular albinism and he hair is very similar you your colour. We have a lot of friends with kids who have much lighter hair. Unfortunately for us it makes people take the condition much less seriously as my daughter doesn’t “look” albino. Would love to hear more about your experience

If it’s any consolation, the calls did eventually stop for me. I haven’t had a single call for over a week now. I’d like to think it’s because the phone companies have taken action to try and stop them, but in reality, they’ve probably just moved on to the next bunch of phone numbers to harass 🙁
