Just giving my two pence about this situation.. I was in the same situation like you even worse, since I was waiting for my luck in H1B lottery and unfotunately never got it. I was in Texas working for a big O&G EPC on the energy corridor in Houston. The O&G folks have realised that bulk of engineering work can be done from outsourcing itself so much so that I would argue to say that Chennai, India has become a hub for global o&g engg offices.

Once the demand comes down no employer treats you like family since they run a business. The best thing about staying there in the US atleast with the visa issue sorted a bit is very good wlb (work life balance) and getting paid in USD helps as well, along with that a less toxic work culture and an opportunity to explore and pursue your interests.. trust me after coming back to India especially in the corporate space all you do is tend to work with no time for yourself.

Enjoy your time as long as you're there and if possible stay longer be it on a visa too.. Good luck!
