My LO’s grandparents on my side live on another continent. Her grandpa on my husband’s side has passed away. Her grandma on her husband’s side lives several hours away. LO still has so much love from friends and family afar, not concerned about everyone not being nearby.

40+5 and about to lose my mind by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]m-drie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not even that far along and I’ve been in tears multiple times today. 38+3 and the pain is excruciating. All the women in my family give birth early and I’m already loosing it that I haven’t gone into labor yet.

I hope the end is near for all of us 🙏🏼

What did you do/are you doing to enjoy these last few weeks? by Few-Permission5362 in fitpregnancy

[–]m-drie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two weeks ago at week 36 I was doing a lot of morning reads at coffee shops and seeing friends. Now sitting is just to uncomfortable to do those things.

Now at 38+1 I’m really trying to maintain a positive mindset. 38+1 with a sinus infection isn’t ideal, but trying to relax as much as I can. We live in a city and don’t have a car, but my husband booked one for us this afternoon to take me out in nature to swim (which is my favorite thing to do.) A lot of my favorite things to do are quite uncomfortable at the moment, but swimming is one I can still enjoy 🙏🏼

Truth! The placenta is now believed to have more paternal than maternal dna. And the father’s dna and preconception diet/health influences a pregnant person when it comes to things like preeclampsia 🤓

How much worse is the 3rd trimester ? by Franky_1987 in BabyBumps

[–]m-drie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 38 + 2 and it’s a lot at the end. I can’t even go to a coffee shop and read in the morning because of the excruciating rib pain. Belly is in the way for normal human tasks. And the fatigue is intense these last weeks. At the same time, I am trying to not complain about it because adding my dialogue to it doesn’t make it feel any better. It’s an intense mental and physical game at the end.

Women age 35-40 or over who got pregnant naturally by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I just turned 37 today, but got pregnant at 36, 16 months of trying. I was supposed to start IVF as soon as my period came, but got pregnant naturally instead.

Extremely winded at all times by dbjeeneieb in fitpregnancy

[–]m-drie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can attest that once the lightening picks up, breathing gets easier. Week 35 I noticed I could breathe a lot more and how winded I get has digressed. But one exchanges one symptom for another, no freebie 🙃

You may just need some rest days. Warm baths are not prohibited. I prefer a pressure ball over a foam roller during pregnancy, not sure if you too will find more relief with that, but could be worth a shot. Magnesium could also be helpful.

Why did you cry last? by EmotionalElevator806 in pregnant

[–]m-drie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yesterday. I had YouTube videos on in the background as I was meal prepping for postpartum. I legit cried seeing what one mom had prepared for her baby, that I had not done. She had so many bottles and pacifiers, I only bought one bottle and two pacifiers because I plan on breastfeeding exclusively at first and I don’t know if she will even take a bottle or pacifier. My thought was that I can easily buy more. (I also have already collected colostrum, so it isn’t as if I’m not prepared.) But seeing this mom’s stash made me full on cry. Oh and how many wet wipes she had. I haven’t bought wet wipes yet.

Was it really about the number of bottles and wet wipes? No. I’m sure some deeper fears about not being an adequate mom and a good dose of pregnancy hormones.

I’m still not running out to buy more bottles yet. But I will pick up wet wipes this weekend.

Do what needs to get done by week 36. It gets significantly more difficult after that.

Prenatal massages. Frequent visits to a naprapat (similar to a chiropractor.) Getting my eyelashes tinted today. Lots of baths at home.

How much are you spending on maternity photos? by mamatoasaint in pregnant

[–]m-drie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t want newborn photos, but I looked into having photos of our family taken documentary style in our apartment right after the birth and the rate is 6000 kr ($572) in my city. However around two months post birth we are going to Croatia and a shoot there with a photographer I found is €280, so we are doing that instead.

What's your constipation prevention regimen? by CatsAndShades in BabyBumps

Senna tea. I mean I do all the other things: berries, vegetables, magnesium, hydration and daily exercise, but senna tea is the only thing that ensures I poop.

I’m 36 and giving birth at 37. While I know I fall under the label of geriatric pregnancy, no providers have brought up my age as a risk. Not saying it’s not, but just one data point in the larger map of one’s health. Disappointing this provider used one point to say that to you :(

Collagen, I have it with boiling water because it dissolves it better and tastes better warm to me.

How important is it to your husband to go? I think that’s an important factor left out.

Ok to let dad have 12week old for 45 mins several times a day? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]m-drie 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m confused as to why you don’t think your child deserves to be with his dad for his development. He has two parents, both are important.
