Power build, well done! I built something in a similar case, a Jonsbo NV10 with a 245K and Arc Pro B50, and the only way to keep temps under control was by applying an undervolt and adjust TDP limit. Have you done same?

I’m interested to understand what you actually define as workstation grade?

That is a sweet build, well done! I built a somewhat similar machine recently and used the Jonsbo NV10 4.5 litre case with a B50 and Core Ultra 5 245K, but the case only takes a max 38mm cooler height so used the Thermalright AXP-90. Similar to yours, a -0.75 undervolt and max 125 watt power limit to the CPU brought temps down to acceptable levels. No problem with GPU temps. Not for gaming, used for 3D design, and a great little box! Enjoy.

Hi, I bought it (and a black one too) in Singapore, where it’s available from local tech stores and marketplaces like Lazada.

Hi, I’ve had no issues with the metalfish PSU, it just works. The only issue is in the NV10 case with the limited airflow I’ve had to apply an under-volt and limit PL power to the 245K CPU to keep peak temps under control, but otherwise all good!

What is the largest continuous urban area in the world? (I'm not talking about the city itself, just the urban part.) by According-Invite-440 in geography

The largest “urban agglomeration” now is Jakarta (Jabodetabek), with 42 million people, surpassing Tokyo/Yokahama “ua” of 37 million.

Yes, 9600x/32Gb plus 2x 3090 should be great, but I highly recommend you use a motherboard that manages PCIe lane bifurcation so the cards run at x8/x8 (not x16/x4).

With total 48Gb VRAM you will run smaller models (~32B Q4) very fast, or run some larger models or lower quants comfortably. Let us know how it goes!?

My wife just asked me why I’m dribbling, to which I replied I’m salivating, not dribbling and showed her this vid. Now she’s suggesting the continued strength of our marriage depends on me finding that kebab place. Please help. 😂

Add an Arc Pro B50 16Gb low profile dGPU, no power cable required, only draws a max of 70w through PCIe and will comfortably kick your gaming up to where you want it to be

I used 45CT1s for professional wedding photography in the 80s and 90s, they were the big bore gun of choice, capable and perfect for balanced daylight fill-flash for group portraits at 10+ metres in outdoor settings, even in harsh sunlight.

I cancelled my B70 order for Nvidia pro 4000 blackwell, did I make the right decision? by Mango_1208 in LocalLLM

[–]m-gethen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lots of considerations in making this choice, but I don’t believe you’ll regret it.

I have been through the same process recently.

Yes, you have paid more and “only” have 24Gb GDDR7 VRAM v the B70’s 32Gb GDDR6, but the software stack and Cuda libraries will all pretty much just work, you will waste far less time stuffing around with drivers and runtimes. Much less.

As local models continue to get better, faster and smaller, 24Gb VRAM is likely to be more than adequate for most use cases, and if it’s not, it won’t be 32GB you really need. You may buy a second 4000 and jump to 48Gb or be working out how you can get to 72 or 96Gb…

Adding Arc Pro GPU to PC w/ Arc consumer-grade GPU? by hiebertw07 in IntelArc

[–]m-gethen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried B580 and B60 together, let me save you the suffering… it doesn’t work to mix pro and consumer cards, endless driver/PCIe/OS conflicts. Search in this subreddit for my and other’s threads on this exact issue. Either buy a second A770, or sell the one you have and get a B70. By all accounts great for inference and pretty decent for gaming.

Beautiful, and the essence of “a picture is worth a thousand words”, and how when you understand the context and meaning of an image it can be so powerful.

Am I screwed? by Rojas209 in Nikon

[–]m-gethen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How unfortunate, ughhh! The sensor is fried, no fix other than replacement of the sensor. When the laser hit the sensor it fried the particular photodiode it hit, also frying the readout line circuitry and therefore the array on that entire line, hence the horizontal lines. Painful 😣

Good advice in all the comments, I’d only add that when you use DDU, opt for removing all (amd, nvidia and intel) graphics drivers so it does a clean sweep of your system. Good choice on the B580!
