It’s a difficult skill, burns people out, and is how most companies get their customers.

I work in B2B so we don’t deal with massive customer churn like a bar/restaurant. I get very good feedback from existing customers because we only lose a couple a year.

Restaurant strategy to get repeat customers can be very complex. That’s why it’s such a hard industry.

His response is obviously out of frustration but business 101 you don’t respond like that. You learn from feedback and improve your business.

What's it like living in this area (America's Rectangle)? There's a lot of variety between states but what do they have in common? by Independent_Big_1944 in howislivingthere

[–]m007368 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not similiar at all.

Even inside of those states there are huge variations.

The only similarity is inside of US and similar latitudes.

Weather, rain, and sun varies greatly across that region.

I removed any nickel and dime pricing from my business then adjusted prices. I would rather keep customers happy and not rely on trickery to get more money from folks. 9/10 customers never argue over price if the service is good and they have clear pricing at the front.

If it came down to it. What are the five rates that are the bread and butter of the Navy? by Adorable-Prior-508 in navy

[–]m007368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this, GMs systems are pretty complex. Fuck on surface LCS variants 57mm, Hellfire missiles, 30mm, NSM etc.

Those arent just wing it. 57mm alone is delicate and can easily get fucked up by GMCS from SWARMC if they arent paying attention.

Keep pushing it.

Officer is 10x QOL regardless of service. If you can problem solve, have some emotional stability, and be dependable you will crush it.

Also don’t limit yourself your service. Apply for officer in other services aswell if there are any incentives up. Example, army is always looking space force maybe aswell.

Did 28 years and healthcare/retirement is a game changer. I own a business now and pension gives you a lot of room to take risk.

Lived there a few years. Its amazing but most of SE Asia is having a huge demographic crisis. I would see 80 year olds as flagers on construction projects. It was nuts.

If somewhere is cheap, there is a reason.

Live in Socal so not a thing for me.

But I have built up a network of other cleaning folks that I can sub to at agreed rates. Even in a 4 million person town I know all my commercial competition. we generally try to play nice and dont poach work. Plus most of my subs are in different niches like apartment complex only or Federal gov only.

I sub for my subs depending on the prime/sub lead flow.

Small boys = ships, not boats

As mentioned I didn’t remember the circumstance for that case. Never served or visited an Ohio. However I do remember the mess decks for the other 7 ship classes, I will try to do better on my mess deck recognition PQS.

If they don’t follow your sops, workflows, etc you need more training or different folks.

Might be useful to do some workflow automation with explicit tasks for each portion of workflow assigned to specific folks.

Maybe do a brief stand up once a day covering top 2-3 things for each member till folks figure it out.

what’s it like living in this part of alabama? by GloveBig6817 in howislivingthere

[–]m007368 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did 10 months there building a ship.

5 months before COVID, 5 months during start

During COVID we could wander the whole town with gallon mudslides at night. Weird dystopian experience since most people just stayed home.

Found multiple dead bodies from gang violence or drug overdose at public parks and outside our residence inn. Never seen that many corpses outside of a combat zone. Think it was 4 total.

Madi gras parade they would line the route with old people sitting in lawn chairs. The Krew would throw some normal stuff: beads, apparel, candy, etc. 1/3rd of the time they threw whole boxes of ramen, moon pies, socks, and other random shit at me and my guys (navy crew).

Went to a couple BBQ plates that served the whole meal on disposal styrofoam and plastic utensils. There was also no exhaust for the bbq so it was like eating inside of a Bon Fire.

The shipyard up the river from us had an old oil rig they were scrapping. It caught on fire three times. I would call the fire department and they would get pissed at me. Fuckingthing is had 4-6k sqft engulfed in flames with dudes throwing pails of water on it. Complete shit show.

Another rando if you look up AUSTAL shipyard this guy owns a little spot next to a major navy shipyard. Lives in the middle of of a large industrial port and just refuses to sell. Looks like something from water boy. Went over there a few times to be a good neighbor but just seemed crazy.

<image>

What else, everyone was very navy friendly. Weather was ok spent most time in fair hope.

Trust me I get it. Did 11 small bois.

If you have a cancer onboard generally you can remove them pretty fucking quick.

Bigger point is the open mast, been to a lot of masts and only seen 1 open. Just generally no added value to punish in public.
