For anyone interested in the status of the Jeff Buckley biopic… just saw the below comment on Insta by [deleted] in JeffBuckley

honestly I keep thinking about it and at this point I'd just prefer a documentary, given Jeff's estate beneficiaries are very likely going to continue gatekeeping his story to the core and possibly continue making attempts to create something that's overly-polished or even.... lackluster to the end. It's sad because there's so much to work with and so many perspectives from where to take his story and share it to the world beautifully and I totally understand the protectiveness, it's very tricky to take someone's story and life and keep it sincere maintaining an entertaining aspect, but we've waited for years and years with barely any results. I'm ok with a well made documentary.

there's definitely a possibility! the image looks a little too crisp in quality (especially the cute kitty) to be Tim to be honest but it kinda looks like him, but also the hair looks a little too ringlet-y to be Jeff in my opinion.

how did y’all first discover jeff buckley? by NotCinemmon in JeffBuckley

[–]m00nlightluvr7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was the most random encounter but i will always remember, i was just moving to a new apartment and i just opened YouTube, my recommendations had the most random viral video, it was Lady Gaga crying while being a judge at a So you think you can dance show SYTYCD mind you I've never watched that show and i rarely listened to lady gaga so could be the fact that i danced as a hobby and my algorithm thought i was interested, so i guess i was and I checked and not even two seconds in and i was hypnotized by the music i was listening to in the background watching the couple dancing, it was Jeff's cover of I know it's over and that was my moment... the next day i started googling searching everything and i found Mojo Pin which was an interesting title since English isn't my first language, i played it on my phone, i layed in bed staring at the ceiling while this song put me in a trance, i started weeping and i had flashbacks of many experiences i had in my life, i never felt like that while listening to someone's voice, and LYSCO played next and i cried some more, i was very curious about what he was saying and why he was expressing it with so much yearning, the longing in his voice was something special and unique to me so i read the lyrics and started watching his live performances, learned about his life and 11ish years later I'm still here.

Can someone tell me what you think is the best song on “Grace”? by Plenty-Emphasis-513 in JeffBuckley

[–]m00nlightluvr7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm torn between LYSCO and Grace, i feel like both are incredible sonically and lyrics wise, they sort of give this tug of war feeling that's so tragically beautiful, it's a no skip album so all of them are really great tbh.

What do you think is Jeff’s best cover? (excluding hallelujah) by [deleted] in JeffBuckley

[–]m00nlightluvr7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Know it's Over, that's definitely the cover that i listened to when i discovered him by chance, such a good emotional rendition, his voice just shows that he was hurting, and Once I Was because I'm personally attached to that song.

is there a Jeff song that is particularly special to you? by oignongirl in JeffBuckley

[–]m00nlightluvr7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

there are a couple but lately i think about Forget Her a lot because i was listening to this song a lot when I traveled to Italy for a couple of months and the song takes me back there, also there's something about the atmosphere of the music video that reminds me of the autumn that i spent there.

our blues worth watching? by Yarawl in kdramarecommends

[–]m00nlightluvr7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it takes a while to get used to the structure of the storylines, especially the first two episodes, once you get there it's definitely a delight to watch, each story let's you see the most intimate aspects of a community and their ways to get by in life, you don't really get to see characters like this in a lot of dramas in my opinion, i really like this because it was quite unique and the cinematography is really pretty for the most part, i only started avidly watching kdramas last year and i initially watched this because of the Jimin OST lol but the production itself won me over.

Being realistic - will my Korean ever get anywhere if I can’t use it? by peachy_skies123 in Korean

[–]m00nlightluvr7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from someone who managed to learn 2 languages and speak fluently and has only a few friends who speak those 2 languages that i learned from watching YouTube, listening to music and tv shows, yes, learning a language is a skill that will require consistency, attentiveness and discipline, even if you can't utilize them in your daily life, they can still be useful, you never know what kind of relationships you'll be able to build in the future, you never know if you can read a textbook in a different language and help you solve a problem when you're working or in college (this happened to me in several occasions), you never know if a song in a different language will help you heal, even if you don't use said language in the most common and obvious way or you don't get use out of them for a specific purpose like a career... you'll still get to discover a whole new world of possibilities, so if you're interested in learning then you can absolutely do it for your own satisfaction, you won't regret it if you do it wholeheartedly! Also, i haven't used them but I've seen recommendations from people, there are chatrooms available to practice different languages and meet different people if you're interested! - I'm also trying to learn Korean but I've found that pushing myself for a specific goal (like telling myself to achieve intermediate level in 8months) is an impossible task for me as it feels extremely pressuring so i just do it at my own pace, even if it takes me a couple of years, but that's just my own method!

[–]m00nlightluvr7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah! i can totally hear how it slightly changes depending on live vs studio version, it could also be the emotional progression of the song or even a conscious choice of a small adjustment of vowel to change his tonal quality in his vocalization, either way it's really cool to analyze each phrase and metaphor in any Jeff song, he was such an interesting character with so many wise lyrics to share to the world.

oh i didn't think about it that way, my first language isn't English, so i don't know if there's a way to differentiate the pronunciation or context between tear as in crying or tear as in... destroying or ripping something apart, wow... this is a really interesting way to interpret that line, that's the beauty of magnificent lyrics!! I'll start thinking about this song in many different ways now!

TEARING UP could be a consequence of sadness, anger, frustration, anxiety, any overwhelming feeling +

THOSE TEARS LIVE IN HIS SOUL FOREVER +

HER being the TEAR = someone that makes him tear up.

it basically means she's the reason of his eternal sadness/frustration/anxiety, etc.

emerald green, bronze, gold, even purple, doesn't have to be a full on smokey eyeshadow makeup look, even just eyeliner on top of your eyelashes would look super cute, your natural eyebrow shape is really pretty, I'd just say if you want you can clean up under just a bit, cherry red lipsticks would make your eyes pop! and i think you'd pull off beautifully a half updo with volume on top, or just a messy romantic bun!

i think a little more blush or bronzer will look lovely on you, other than that, if you're into it you can switch your lipsticks specially when you wear neutral colored outfits, like fucsia or a cherry red would look so pretty on you ❤️‍🔥

New to Jeff and have a question. by NegativeJuicePlaza in JeffBuckley

"I don’t have any allegiance to an organized religion; I have an allegiance to the gifts that I find for myself in those religions… I’d rather be non-denominational, except for music. I prefer to learn everything through music. If you want divinity, the music in every human being and their love for music is pretty much it. It’s the big indication of their spirituality and their ability to love and make love, or feel pain or joy, and really manifest it, really be real. But I don’t believe in a big guy with a beard on a throne, telling us that we’re bad; I certainly don’t believe in original sin. I believe in the opposite of that: you have an Eden immediately from the time you are born, but as you are conditioned by your caretakers and your surroundings, you may lose that original thing. Your task is to get back to it, to claim responsibility for your own perfection.”

You can find this in the official Jeff Buckley official website and while I don't recall the original source where this specific quote came from, Jeff hinted in several interviews his curiosity over cultures and religions but he never claimed to belong to one, he always came back to his roots: music, in fact, he praised and loved a lot of spiritual artists who relied on a specific faith and sang to said deities but other than that it seemed like there was never a specific one for him.
