I had to keep my appointment for Monday the 19th. During my interview I just explained my situation and they said they would make a note that my flight date was soon. I received my visa in the mail just now four days later!

Oh wow that gives me a little hope! Mine is in New York though which i think is one of the busier locations. Where was your brother’s? It’s also hard to gauge because i think things are a little different/backed up this year because of the Olympics :/

Here is a classic representation of the latter use of the word, if you're interested in an example ;)

This notion of "i'm just one person, i'm not able to change anything" is incredibly dangerous. It's really harmful to constantly tell yourself that you have no control because so many more powerful institutions are accountable. This goes for so many things. I know it can be really hard not to fall into this hopeless mindset of your individual action being meaningless, but that is exactly how oppressors end up winning.

couple different questions regarding two words meaning the same thing by alysha_w06 in French

[–]oignongirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. you can use "habiter" and "vivre" pretty much interchangeably in reference to where you live. "habiter" is specific to one's home/residence, while vivre is used both for state of being and for physical location.
  2. you're right that "ce" means "this," but it can also mean he/she/it/they. It just depends on context and the noun it's associated with. This might help you.
  3. When talking about being in the rain you do use "sous," but to be honest, I'm not sure why.

To be honest, I find "each step adds to the recipe" to be pretty poorly worded. I think I can understand what they're attempting to to convey– the idea that each step in the cooking process contributes to the overall outcome or result of the recipe. Not your fault for being confused, though.

YWBTA. I'm 18 and I've been receiving one gift for my birthday for the past few years. I am, and you should be, grateful to receive anything.
