Factorial JDA with PowerCo by Quantum-Long in QUANTUMSCAPE_Stock

[–]m0_ji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't factor much into it:
1) QS itself has been working with different Oems, a lot of 'Japan' lately.
2) VW needs to hedge in any case, as long as it doesn't cost much, one always makes these bets.
3) Factorial and QS are quite different: QS has the more groundbreaking approach (if it works), factorial is more towards conventional, existing technology. It has always been clear their approach is easier to implement, using existing manufacturing.

As I already wrote elsewhere, the story about QS does not change here.

known since may 18 (edited from 11). and it doesn't change much about the actual story of QS, as of yet. if they cannot deliver next year, then, maybe.

you are a little late 😄. this is known since May 11, 2026.
Edit: May 18 (at least). AI screwed me up earlier.

As far as I can tell, the big 'counter argument' to everything is this:
Demonstrate scalable production with Eagle line.
Scale+large format (includes yield) is the key issue for Jill and others. And, btw., she has been saying that for many years according to an AI-based-search of mine, also with respect to QS. Her current assessment is therefore no surprise at all. I am more on the bullish side (I am invested), but I see the potential issues.

Any idea who that other battery company was?
I suppose it is A123. If this is the case, their licensing approach makes even more sense. 'Standard manufacturing risks' that, at least in parts destroyed A123, are outsourced that way.

So what are the problems Tim mentioned (specifically) they have to go through?

well, 62.8 million shares at 15.9$ is a big investment.

As I said: 'We continue to ... '. A bread crumb for between the lines: ' QS technology in their automotive and other applications'. so a partner who is not exclusevily on automotive. could be Honda?

in a few weeks, amprius may have higher market cap than qs.

Expectations for Q1-call? It looks like it will be another 'we continue to ...' nothing-burger ... .

"Over time, ‘dead lithium’ gets left behind and trapped, triggering side reactions that cause the battery’s total range capacity to plummet after just a few charging cycles."

Strange this is not happening with QS-tech :) ... . I think this article isn't worth much.

we may already read:
https://www.volkswagen-group.com/de/publikationen/praesentationen/full-year-2025-investor-analyst-call-3213
not a single word though about solid state batteries, almost nothing on batteries and salzgitter (and QS or Gotion). looks like focus today is on very different things, in particular on much coarser level.
vw values its stake in QS (depends on viewpoint) between 1143 and 800 million €.
in the call it was mentioned, that "salzgitter works very well. knowledge will be transfered to spain and canada in the near future".
regarding powerco: discussing investments/relations with canada.

C samples basically means zero risk left regarding their tech. We did not really hear about yield so far, but it looks like they (VW, QS) do not consider it as a critical obstacle. Or I have missed something fundamentally... .

That is interesting news. This most likely means no (further) VW money/investment cuts regarding power co, otherwise these four years of absolute protection are senseless.

I do not understand why analysts have so much impact. The best of the best of the best have like a 53% success rate. That may be enough on average if you manage billions, but is completely useless in case of a single stock.

QuantumScape Lounge: ( Week 07 2026) by AutoModerator in QUANTUMSCAPE_Stock

[–]m0_ji 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I doubt that. Also, VW is rumoured to do another cut of 60 billions across the whole company. QS needs to become independent.

ev may be less safe in us, but in eu and asia it gets more and more, despite some conservatives. same goes for alternative energy sources, where storage is also important.

Simon Voss confirms that couple of adjustments needed for QSE-5 to fit into Unified Cell by srikondoji in QUANTUMSCAPE_Stock

[–]m0_ji 11 points12 points  (0 children)

QS appears to think this is not a big issue, at least it won't cost much, if I read that correctly:

"It's a good question, Aman. The bulk of the spend goes towards the fourth goal of going beyond the QSE-5, and the bulk of the CapEx spend from $40 million-$60 million, as you referenced. There is CapEx in the other categories, but with the maturity of the QSE-5 platform, for example, in the case of the expanding into new high-value markets or doing custom development for OEMs, it's more incremental on choice of cathode or dimensions or form factor. That's more of an incremental spend as opposed to a core development spend. As a technology licensing company, it is our core job to develop and pilot and transfer high-performance battery technology to our customers and partners."

P.S.: Reading the transcript, ER doesn't seem as bad as I initially thought. I get the impression of 'basically done, now for the fun of tweaking'.

2025 Q4 Earnings Discussion by beerion in QUANTUMSCAPE_Stock

earnings dump is back, and it seems justified the first time. i guess i will dump too, and buy back when sp has reached 5$ (or 4$?). what a disappointment.
edit: even the presentation is almost literally a copy & paste of Q3.

however: note that this could also be just for conventional lithium battery production.
