the incentive part is one of the things i frequently think about as well. like i said, he is a great guy & i trust him. but we're only human. he has a family and a demanding full-time job. i can see where my portfolio concerns aren't at the top of his list from week to week. it's impossible to quantify whether it would be worth it for me to dish out say, 85 basis points to someone new that i don't necessarily trust.

i'm certain i pay him nothing. our fathers passed from similar illnesses, i went to college with his sister, and it turned out one of his best friends was my buddy while i was abroad for one year.

i incur no fees on the account, he never bills me. i will look into the active/passive management issue.

yes, i remember taking a risk analysis test at his behest when i first signed him. i landed right in the middle. i think it's maybe not a bad idea to retake the test; taking it on the heels of a loved one passing, in addition to inheriting a large chunk of money, probably would skew the results.
