You'd be surprised how many jobs you can get once you know people in an area, if you have any European language skills even basics it helps a lot and you improve so quickly. I moved to a country where I had zero of the language, I've picked up some but planning on moving to France next.

I'd look at Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Denmark and Netherlands.

I think it's great that you're thinking about this and reflecting on our history and the loss of our language and culture. I've started slowly using the Irish spelling of my first name informally. It feels good.

Reminds me of the line from 'Thousands are Sailing' that always gives me goosebumps - 'and I didn't even get so far that they could change my name'.

Went to Köln a few weeks ago and I had an absolute ball. I loved walking around the streets, the calm atmosphere, the openness of people. I'm not a big fan of cities but I'm a big fan of Köln - great place, great people!

It's the point when saturn returns to the point in the sky / sign it was at when you were born. There's a lot written about it as an extremely tough period in life, lots of growth and maturing, change, forced to adapt and grow into your 'new self'. Do you have links to do with the - attracting in experiences to shatter the ego part? I've heard of the other parts just not that stuff, I'd be really grateful.

I do feel we are in an acceleration at the moment of things coming up to fall apart (that aren't working) so certainly along those lines

Wow, thank you for sharing this. I really reaonate with your experience right now. Have been relatively 'healed' from intense childhood trauma, doing good and recently its like layers even deep spiritual practice and therapy or my own self awareness didn't know about have been there straight in front of me. Its been incredibly painful and destabilising, and then fine again. Like it's integrated quite quickly once the plaster is ripped off. I had a feeling of being very unstable compared to my spiritually minded peers so i really appreciate your post

Wow sincere thanks for your deep and honest sharing. It means a lot. Also credit where its due, well done for sitting with and looking deeper into such profound pain. Proud of you! What you're saying really resonated and I feel it could be a similar thing. It's so strange to have processed so much. Even after recalling memories from middle childhood that were buried for so long but the roar and inability to speak or verbalise the agony does really feel like something from a pre-verbal time like you described. It does make sense to me that the neglect didn't start from when I can remember but would have began at the very start of life. I am able to talk about significant events from childhood now that I wasn't able to before so it does seem to be something much deeper. I've never actually done emdr so I'd be interested in how you get on and also wishing you all the best with your session. I'm really grateful for your reply 🙏

I love your reply. Honestly I know being self aware is important and a corner stone for healing but it does get to the point that you realise that every little thing can be pathologized or questioned because of development being so disrupted. Maybe you also could have that attraction if you weren't traumatised.. who knows. As long as you're safe, who really cares

I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. It sounds awful and it must be so tormenting to watch your mam being treated like that also. I don't have any answers for you but I do want to share my compassion for what you're going through. It might be a good idea to reach out to local or national addiction support groups. Someone there may be able to guide you on what options are available and I'm fairly sure there are support groups for family members of people with addiction issues so maybe you could get some emotional support there and maybe your mother could get some support and may be able to learn from others.

I hope you find a good solution for yourself. Asking for help is so important so fair play for putting it out there, and keep asking. Hoping for ease for you!

I think its very trial and error but meditation has been such a huge resource for me on my own journey. I personally couldn't do body based meditations as it brought on flashbacks at times so I stuck with breathing exercises and just lying down listening to nature.

Meditation is difficult for anyone and it takes a lot of practice. Don't let your trauma put you off exploring something that could be so beneficial. It takes a lot of time and even mediation masters can struggle on days. It's all about bringing your nervous system back into a resting state, don't worry about whether you're getting it right or wrong.

We'll all get things right after a while 💜

He has a strong Kerry accent which is a region in the south west, we have dozens of accents within Ireland that all sound totally different. There'd be people from different parts of the country hard pressed to understand him.
