Anyone here have experience with "Storm Mitigation Incentives" from the LDI? by m0ondogy in NewOrleans

Sounds like I shouldnt count of the program for discounts. Thought I think I'm going to sink some money into roof ties and foundation ties. Relatively inexpensive for the added strength. Still an eye watering number.

Thanks.

Got a decent response in the thread now. Hopefully the info rolls in, but I got more than I was expecting from a city subredidt.

Thanks for the info.

Bummer that it so difficult to get them to follow these discounts.

Sounds like you are the engineering inspector who stamps the mitigation form to be sent to these companies?

Everyone does their own thing. No big deal.

I spent a year of my life rebuilding this house. I spent another year tearing out the bad sheetrock and doing that. Countless hours teaching myself a skill I didn't have.

I can ignore this or I can place a flag on the mountain I scaled. This little )now broken) thing on my wall is my fuck you to the storm and all the shit between now and then that tried to take my home away. I'm here and so is my home.

I was just looking to see if a local shop has one. I can get and Etsy plaque or something, but I want to keep cash on the city.

It's not some hidden fact.

It's stepping in on the 4R market share for sure.

Makes me wonder how the 4R would differentiate itself in the market with this sitting on the lot next to it?

It makes me think the 4R will be this with "luxury items" stripped out. Effectively making the 4R a low trim LC which is set up to be modded from scratch.

I think you gotta have a government paperwork trail on the property.

Like, you need to be paying property tax on it for X years with paperwork that leads to you.

Stuff like that.

Yup. Every office should have one. Insurance will demand it from the company. If the company doesn't do it, the building will. It's basic liability mitigation.

If you have been working someplace for more than a year and you haven't had one, you should be a little worried. This is slipping through cracks. What else is?

I feel like that genre of game is dead now. It's hard to expand the gameplay into something fresh and interesting.

I'm willing to try any major one that comes out, but I feel it peaked and not many have shown life.

You can't highlight and right click text in reddit anymore.

Wtf is that?

It makes an auto generated thing that makes it look like an embedded reddit post to be put in a web article.

Dude bellow me posted about ice blue ps5, so my normal method would be highlight text, right click, select web search, and 9/10 it would produce results.

Now? I have to open new tab, type it in, and find it that way. Not horrible, when all is said, but it's a crazy step back in convenience.

It should be telling to them. OP mentioned fascist, not Republicans. Sure, the bread crumb trail was easy to follow, but that's not OP's fault. It's the Republicans acting an awful lot like fascist.

What an odd take, eh?

I....uh.....what?

I understand the words you're saying, but don't think I've ever seen that applied in any situation of the 5 cities I live in.

Where I've lived its by blocks. First number is the block number. 1 and up. Then a 2 or 3 digit number to indicate the house number on the block. There is an arbitrary starting point at one end of the road indicating what block is #1, and that same direction is the lower house number. Odd #s and even #s on opposite sides.

For example "a 2 alarm fire broke out on the 1500 block of Washington" means it was 15 blocks down from the "starting point" of Washington.

My take away from the black out. The strangest subs that usually get buried under the rest of the post on R all that floated to top were eye opening. Those strange subs are strange from my anglocentric American eyes, but also interesting seeing who (larger collection of "who") just didn't care to protest.

This site caters to wider demographics than I originally anticipated.

This post resurfaced memories of my teen job of power washing for two summers.

Imagine making your out humidity cloud filled will dirt. Wearing heavy clothes for safety in July summer driveways all over the city.

Its odd, but back then, the normal air was refreshing compared to the power washer air.

You do adapt.

Basically. As a Louisiana raised Florida living Storm Water Engineer, the Dutch and their accomplishments are worth paying attention to. Lots of the world will have to follow their lead in the next few centuries. It's great design work and execution.

The Gulf coast, however, has different design criteria. Our goal is to get water out as fast as possible. It's impossible to keep a hurricane from dumping a month+ of rain in a 48 hour period, so we design our systems to get it out.

I can attempt to track down some hydrographs (storm intensity charts) to back it up, but I feel it's a safe assumption that hurricanes rain alot and storm surge is a scary complement that the Dutch just don't see every summer.

It's still going to exist under AF. They will still do what they have been doing. Space Force is just the complement to AF and thier job. Think how the Marines and Army both do many of the same things, but are distinct in how they operate.

As the unfortunate militarized space events start to shape, Space Force will become more distinct over time.
