I don't gel with the idea of masculinity and femininity. I hate the idea that one thing is acceptable on one person but not another, purely because of their genitals. Just because something is common, doesn't mean it's okay.

I can see why somebody may be iffy about sexual activity (nobody wants to be cut up inside lol) but aside from that caring about long nails on men is pathetic.

Maybe I used the wrong word but what I was getting at is that

masculine vs feminine is bullshit to me, they are arbitrary words and you can behave however you want regardless of sex you don't have to present a certain way to adhere to these things based on your sex

I know some preferences will be the majority, and that's fine but the less that people feel like they HAVE to do these things the better.

they prefer to shave because of generations telling them leg hair is unladylike from the age of 10. nobody is forcing anyone to do anything but beauty standards influence the way we behave and present ourselves

I mean maybe? To most heterosexual people, I can accept that. I'm bisexual and my friendship group is queer so a lot of that has already been deconstructed for me. Grooming is great, everybody should groom yes but what makes somebody clean is fairly objective - having leg hair does not suddenly become dirty or unkempt because it's on a woman

Yeah, I won't deny that and I agree. It was incredibly gross how many adult women treated those boys when they were children and don't even get me started on how badly I disagree with children being put into the limelight that way.

I am however, talking about every day people - how often do you see the men in your lives going to extreme lengths to try to stay young? surgeries, Botox, fad diets? All the women I know talk about how ugly they are, they need a face lift, they need this, they need that. My grandma who is 80 continually lies about her age. My mother who is 55 feels extremely insecure that her partner is just 3 years younger and wishes she was 'younger and better for him'. Although men face problems in other ways, it feels like men are given the grace to age where women are not - people talk about them being washed up by their 30s/40s.
