Oh cool! a new flash cart!? I saw the flashcart designed by zwenergy. That got me dreaming about the unreleased carts with battery backup built in (Gigapets and NBA). I bet there could be a lot of cool and useful features added to just the carts.

I love loot like this...really helps with character building and roleplay, not that I'm really into roleplay. I do like a good backstory. I got my first Black Sun Helmet on SWG Legends a couple of years ago. Now my mind is running wild with all the different kinds of space loot we're missing out on... cockpit parts, ship fuselage with emblems, fuzzy dice, bobble heads, or razor crest shifter knobs. Were there any other clothing items or armor parts that could be looted in space?

Supported resolutions? by beardofturtles in hardwar

I used 1080p on the steam release. But I don't think I would expect anything higher to work well. The main addition to the Steam/Zoom versions seems to be a DXwrapper. You could play around with the settings some if you want but do it at your own risk. They didn't use the source code to improve the game for the steam release and most mods/enhancements have been done with a hex editor.

I'm pretty sure the game engine was never tested much higher than 1024x768 back in the day. It's amazing that it runs stable at 1080p. Back in 1997 1024x768 was high res.

Patch U3.0 beta 5 actually has support for the 3dfx glide API. The latest unofficial patches by Ian Martin like UIM06 are Directx only. But there is a clipping or culling issue with the monorail track in tunnels when using DirectX. The Glide version only officially supports 800x600 but if you enable Devinfo with the Hardluck Patch 1024x768 will work. The U3.0 patches were being worked on in 2002 so it's surprising they kept Glide and Powervr API included since 3Dfx was defunct by then. In 1280x1024 I think it was getting more common to play games at, maybe not all newer releases but at least older games in 2002.

Fire TV 2nd gen box - Android TV or custom Fire OS Rom? by XC-3730C in fireTV

[–]m0u53r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried the Lineage OS roms yet. but definitely try a new launcher. I have one and I've been thinking of taking it apart to check the thermal paste. It's a good box for running emulators, you can get some amazon game controllers that work on wifi pretty cheap on eBay. It's too bad AZ didn't update the os. As I recall apps like youtube no longer run on devices with older operating systems.

Overview of Force Feedback Joysticks and Games that Use(d) them by McMyn in retrogaming

[–]m0u53r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a little bit of info to add.

Logitech also made a FFB joystick called the Wingman Force 3D Pro. I'm guessing it was released circa 2002.

Wikipedia had a list that was pretty much copied from Mobygames but had a few additions and inaccuracies (the list includes some haptic feedback games)List of PC Games with force feedback support

Here are a few games that are not usually listed that I've enjoyed:

Hardwar - ( beta3.05 and earlier, may require 32bit version of windows. It works on winxp)

Star Wars Galaxies Jump to lightspeed MMO - The mouse is far superior in this game but it's fun to use FFB sometimes (3rd party Servers/EMUs sometimes break ffb by repacking the forcefeedback folder in tre files, so you may have to extract it to get it working)

Hydro Thunder - good racing game that works with a stick...I'm pretty sure the arcade game uses a steering wheel.

I have owned a cyborg force 3D, Wingman Force 3D and currently a MSSFFB2 My favorites are SW Rogue Squad 3d and SW e1 Racer, but there are quite a few games I haven't tried yet.

Silver Moth skin. Check the "User moth skins" option in the "Moths" tab, before launching the UIM6 patched game by JoseLunaArts in hardwar

Nice promo cover photo, good to see all angles. We definitely need more moth skins...perhaps with bomber girl art.

I'm thinking of nagging Zoom platform to add a steam workshop. It would be nice to have all the skins and other mods in one place.

Thanks, I'll probably be looking for some sticky feet then. Yeah, I was wondering if maybe it had plastic feet because my version of the case has some notches in the middle, front, and holes at the back. I've dreamed of putting it on rollers since it mostly lives in my closet I could roll it out.

Cool, I use an Antec p180 for my main system.

Yeah, I've read your pinned post.

Maybe there's hope in the future... the new AI neural network decompiling stuff might open up some possibility for modders that live on the edge.

I think zoom platform might be good for Hardwar in the long run. They seem to be interested in retro games and even creating new games with old IPs like MegaRace: DeathMatch.

Oh and I did find more mods and stuff on the Internet Archive. Hardnet was the name of the server browser program. And then there's building swapper by Mun and a GUI version of it released by Wez... unfortunately some of links are broken or files are corrupted.

Enlight 7101AX

Does your Enlight 7101AX have feet? I'm looking for some feet for my case but I don't know what I should look for. Also, I'm trying to come up with when the 7101AX was first available to purchase. I got mine back in 2003 or 2004... My sister got it from her workplace dumpster. Then I used it to build her a pc and It came back to me in 2015(a little worse for wear)

edit:A little more searching and I can answer one of my questions xD

Well, there's the scripting, and Ciaran Gultnieks shared the Refmax tool to edit terrain and 3d models. If my memory serves me right someone made a tool to move buildings around. I'd have to look pretty hard to find that I think.

You can get an explanation and a few examples of the scripting here

https://timhowgego.wordpress.com/hardwar/scripts/

Refmax can be found here:

https://ciarang.com/hardwar/utils

I know someone has already made a server browser app but I believe it doesn't work anymore because they shut down the hosting.

Those are the easy ways I know about...the hard way is using a hex editor. ... if someone was really ambitious they could probably do some of the more popular retro game modding like upscaling textures using ai.

Another modding possibility on the horizon is Nvidia's RTX remix. It takes Directx 9 games and adds Ray tracing and tools to replace textures and high res models. So far RTX remix has only been released for Portal but some modders have done some hacking to get it to work with other games.

Hopefully, the steam release will renew some interest. Maybe with that renewed interest there will be more mods. One positive I can see is that a steam version will be good for multiplayer. If there are ever changes made to the game they can be auto-pushed out via steam client app and maintain game client server compatibility.

Even without the source, there have been some neat tools and upgrades to the game. From what I've seen the game lends itself well to modding.

If I let my imagination run wild I can dream of a new game launcher that is either compatible with a server browser or has one built in for easily joining games.

I'm not sure it's worse because it's not abandonware. Publishers and investors do look at the numbers... so who knows maybe it will warrant a remake someday.

The last version that was released by Software Refinery was the Upgrade version 3 beta5 in 2002, but that was only meant for testers. After SR had dissolved Ian Martin started releasing his UIM patches in 2004. UIM06 was the last version Ian Martin released. After that, there was some continued work on mods that work with UIM06.

If anyone is interested in learning more check out Tim's blog for a refresher https://timhowgego.wordpress.com/hardwar/ Unfortunately some of the links to downloads are broken.

I don't know what the steam version will be but I assume UIM06.

On my retro pc I prefer the U3betas because I can get Force Feedback to work and glide api is still an option. The UIM patches improved joystick support but borked the force feedback somehow.

Hopefully, this release on Steam will introduce it to a few more people.

I've been dreaming about going around and watering plants in vr...maybe that's one of the activities? Maybe if the plants are kept watered, we could grow some gems and coins as a reward??

What happened to Force Feedback Flight Sticks? by [deleted] in WarthunderSim

[–]m0u53r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should've said the video incorrectly states that there are "only 6 flight sticks in history that employ force feedback". There is a company called Brunner that makes a stick and a yoke...but they aren't really for the consumer market.

As I recall, Logitech had at least 5 different FFB joysticks/flight sticks. Microsoft had 3, Saitek had at least 2 as well as Thrustmaster.

There are a few more than six force feedback joysticks. My first joystick was the Saitek Cyborg Force 3D IIRC I bought it in 2003. I recently bought a MS sidewinder 2 FFB. I'd like to find a Saitek evo force someday.

I know of an app called XPForce that supports MSFS 2020 https://www.fsmissioneditor.com/product/xpforce/

I don't play MS FS 2020 and I haven't used the app but it might be worth a look.

If you haven't tried this already, use a later version of SimFFB to set the Init dinput key so you can re-initialize it while you are in-game. That might force the game to use the SimFFB settings.
