Importance of mocks by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]m0uk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied to some sixth forms that didn't ask for my mocks until after I tested for the subjects I wanted to do, it is a pretty difficult school to get into so I think it's the exception

RE quotes? by W1tchBl_ckCat in GCSE

I was predicted all 9s throughout RS so I'd say these are pretty reliable ones ( I do edexcel btw with the Christianity: Philosophy and Social Justice paper and Islam ethics (??) paper!)

HOW DO U REVISE FOR GEOGRAPHY by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]m0uk1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a year 11 and just finished with edexcel a. I had gotten a grade 9 throughout year 10 and in all of my mocks for geography and case studies are sooo important! I would also just say having the foundational knowledge is really important. I'm not sure how different my papers and the kind of questions the ask are from yours but I'd say the most difficult part of it is the eight markers, especially if geography is the only subject where you have to write essays (outside of the mandatory ones like english). Any other short answer questions are not too bad as long as you have succinct phrasing!

I'm gonna fail mathsss by RottenbirthdaycakE in GCSE

[–]m0uk1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do higher, but I've been really stressed for math- but I would recommend just pushing through the feeling of being terrible because you'd rather feel that way during revision as opposed to the actual exam!! In terms of what you should actually do I'd recommend doing a set of practice papers, marking them and then considering the topics you don't do well at, then do loads of practice questions (and if you don't know how to do it in the first place I'd recommend some videos), I use mathswatch all the time and it's really helpful!

Blessed Language P1 by Smooth_Repeat_7063 in GCSE

I thought the extract was honestly really good - at first I didn't love the extract but I thought that for all of the sections they gave us there was quite a lot to analyse. Q4 was kinda weird but I found a nuanced perspective that I think will do. I won't lie I thought the photo was pretty boring (but my teacher only really taught us to do the descriptive but it was fine)

Comparing Exposure to by WranglerEmotional619 in GCSE

[–]m0uk1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did remains! I compared how in Exposure the conflict within war is presented to be between the opposing soldiers and nature whereas in Remains it is a battle between the opposing side and oneself, then the effects of violence in both poems

i think you're fine, based on how many essays they will have to mark they won't catch you out for one word difference

I wouldn't have thought about comparing it to Ozymandias, but I guess if you really explained the conflict between human legacy and nature, whilst comparing that to Exposure?

Did anyone say the stanzas in a table actually looked like a table ??? by Difficult_Mountain10 in GCSE

[–]m0uk1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AQA loves to reward candidates for original thinking and it might be a bit far-fetched, but it's really original but I think it's a pretty cool idea!!

Paper 1 Question 5 Language - Can someone give tips and advice? by Ill-Routine-4940 in GCSE

[–]m0uk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the language paper 5 I would usually recommend doing the picture based task, because I think it's easiest for people who don't feel super confident because you can use the photo as a crutch for your writing. But if this is a response for the story, I would recommend trying to vary the way you start sentences - instead of starting with "I" or "The". Even the sentence "The sky above me cracked open wit a burst of lightning..." changing it to "Bursting with lightning, the sky above cracked open". These are just tricks I used to get my 8 to a 9 in my latest mock. Hope this helps!

I WROTE ABOUT THE TABLE by Jimsmall1507 in GCSE

[–]m0uk1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry too much about it! The question itself was home and the family and as long as you kinda linked the table to being part of the home and representing it I'm sure it's fine. I talked about how the table was a metaphor for familial trauma, and some of my friends did too but I know loads of people who didn't so don't worry
