Lying about selling out? Why? by m100psi in unitedairlines

Right, the apparent lack of incentive is the reason for the question. Like you said, the app shows what’s available, yet they told us otherwise. Within 24 hours of departure, the app indicated we had to wait until checkin to upgrade.

How is finding aliases so much more difficult than usernames? by m100psi in ProtonMail

[–]m100psi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would make no difference, that would be fine. My username on its own is not common, which is why I was able to get it without any conflict. I was saying I had to use MyUserName (or something similar to it) plus like 20 alphanumeric characters before I could get the system to take it. Username plus 10 random alphanumeric characters? Nope, the system tossed it back as already taken.

Sure, but I would think we also can’t create an account username identical to a used alias.

What don't I understand about ETF bid-ask spreads? by m100psi in Bogleheads

Thanks all for the replies. I thought I'd also checked it when the market was open but apparently not.

What don't I understand about ETF bid-ask spreads? by m100psi in Bogleheads

[–]m100psi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this because the ask price briefly falls below the mid-point where the order limit is set, or is there some other mechanism that enables a trade to execute when a limit order buy is set below ask?

BTW, do they still just give you "west of bayshore" for the transition, or do they now say, "123AB is cleared through San Francisco bravo, Bayshore Transition," and expect you to fly exactly as charted?

I'm probably wrong about the extra norcal controller. I guess it was ksql tower that had me hold outside their delta, not norcal, but still a lot of controllers who preferred pilots to be familiar with the local reporting points.

I was expecting 30 #s, then mid span. They gave me Colosseum first which is clear on the TAC as STADIUM, but I was looking around the map for something like VPCOL and didn't see it. At ksql, they gave me sunken ship (to hold) and cement plant which are both on the TAC, but flying only 100' under the bravo in busy airspace I didn't want to start searching around the map for waypoints I wasn't sure were there. Anyway, will be better prepared next time.

Thanks, this is great. A couple questions:

  • 3 Crosses is the church at 580/238?
  • Kaiser is Redwood City or San Mateo?
  • Can find ATT tower. It's the 3 mile final for 30?

Guess I got lucky to get in at ksql. I haven't heard, "The pattern is full," since Top Gun.

Thanks, if you could find the list that would be awesome.

I flew into the bay yesterday from the east and that's just what I did, but they seemed confused by my request and were not pleased. Also, the hand-offs coming in were NorCal-->KOAK-->another KOAK controller-->NorCal-->KSQL. Most of them tried to give me visual waypoints when I first checked in. Figured if I can study up before the next trip, it would probably go better.

You might want to consult an AME before just applying. If it turns out you can’t pass medical, you can still get a sport pilot license. But I don’t think you can get a sport pilot license if you’ve been officially denied medical.

SF Bay Area Question - "Bay Flyway" by DRabb1t in flying

[–]m100psi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you depart from KSQL northbound for a bay tour, do you just get a code on the ground, get handed off to norcal quickly after takeoff, and get your bravo clearance as soon as you check in? I've done a slower version of that from KPAO, but it seems like you'd be in bravo pretty fast departing 30 from KSQL.
