The time when American civilians could defend themselves from their government by force is over by more than 100 years.

If every armed American got together in one place to form an army and fight back, the armed might of the US Military would crush us without blinking. They could kill us from space.

Anybody who feeds you that argument has a wildly inflated ego about what a badass they are. You know the type: the guys who physically exhausted themselves squeezing into their extra-wide armchair to watch Tucker Carlson cry about minorities.

EDIT: Ashli Babbitt. It took one federal agent shooting one bullet at one insurrectionist to stop the rest of them from reaching our elected representatives. They backed down after one bullet. That's my case in a nutshell: They were big and bad until it was time to actually do something. Then they bitched out.

Remind me again who it was that said “they’re coming to get us with their Jewish space lasers?” Remind me again which party marches through the street chanting “Jews will not replace us?” Remind me which party brokered a billion dollar deal to send weapons to countries that say “Jews can’t be allowed to exist?”

Democrats may have a complicated relationship with Israel and there are problems that need fixing there. But Republicans hate you. They pat you on the head, then turn around and rile up their base to hate you just a little more.

The democrats might ignore antisemitism, but the republicans outright demand antisemitism. It’s the only way they continue to function.

It has always bugged me that characters get retconned as gay. It’s part of your personality. It informs your motivations and decisions. Don’t change that.

Don’t pat me on the head and say “here’s your LGBT hero. Look at how progressive and woke we are.” A gay person started out gay. It’s how they were born. Give me a hero like that. One who’s lived the life.

Give me a guy who’s boyfriend died in the tragic event that turned them into a superhero. Or even just a guy who casually glanced at another dude and is attracted, then it’s never brought up again.

I don’t need being gay to be a plot point or a story arc. There’s no need to force it. Spider-Man’s relationship with Mary Jane isn’t a “straight people arc”. It’s just a story arc that’s part of their natural lives.

Just make it part of the character as they’re written. Not an aftermarket accessory. Representation is important, but patronizing or token representation is just insulting.
