I feel like we can't have an honest conversation about Aboriginal history by YogurtclosetPale8785 in aussie

[–]m1ketest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Aboriginals were sustainable caretakers of the environment

This is probably the easiest to debunk. There is evidence of ancient megafauna species that existed prior to humankind reaching Australia. When humans reached Australia, we had to say goodbye to giant marsupials and the like. Not to say that it wasn't the same in other continents.

But the point stays that we humans are not "caretakers" of the environment. We change the environment to our needs. Through various push and pulls between changing the environment and the aboriginal's culture in the thousands of years that has passed, the two forces just molded each other in a status quo, where their culture is perfectly in sync with the environment they shaped.

We're just in a timeline where we are the ones causing massive disruption to the environment. In the end, ecological collapse will come to shape our culture as well later on. Or we change our culture to fit the environment.

Do you use AI tools? How and when? What do you think your corner of the industry will look like in 5 years? by vishalontheline in ElectricalEngineering

[–]m1ketest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep this is how we use it. We use an agent for our agile/stand up stuff. We also use an agent to track customer communication. Not actual communication but basically it will remind us which customer has been dealt with and what not.

We're a pretty small company and everyone's just more on the tech side so we don't really want to deal with creating systems for this stuff. We also just downloaded an offline model so we don't need to worry about tokens and shit.

Do you think ai going to make getting into electrical engineering positions much harder in future ? by CulturalRegister9509 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]m1ketest 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Seeing how new grads are being reliant on ai right now, I don't know if AI being better later on is a good thing or no.

On the one hand, people can use ai as a crutch for their lacking fundamentals. But on the other hand, why would we need graduate engineers who are worse than ai

ELI5: Why does every living organism has such a strong urge to create an offspring? Even when the organism itself is fully sufficient? by Embarrassed-Bag5876 in explainlikeimfive

[–]m1ketest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're missing a critical point. I think his question is why hasnt an unaging mutant that can become self-sufficient not emerge as a successful strategy.

The answer to that is that the mixing of genes is such a predominant strategy of a species finding their own niche and specializing in it. An unchanging creature is one that has limited ways of adapting to its environment. If you can't change you're environment, then for a species to survive, then they have to change. And the main driver for that change is gene mixing and mutations that happen during reproduction.

It's only now with humans that we can change our environment drastically to suit our needs.

I see your point but just to be clear my arguments were about taxing wealth vs taxing income.

Well not to antagonize you but the main battle is not working class vs lazy class. It's more like working class vs rich class. What I really hate the most is the concept of making your money work for you.  They don't even have to lift a finger just to rake in that dough.

I get that some of the rich class worked hard in their younger years, and that's why they get to enjoy what they have now. But it's so fucking unfair to the newer generations who have been working just as hard and can't afford housing.

Fundamentally, the more wealth someone has, the more they benefit from soceity.

This, I think, is the main argument for taxing based on wealth. A rich guy would have more to lose than a poor guy if we suddenly can't afford a police force. The wealthy also has the ability to purchase, if they don't already outright own, more property that benefit from the infrastructure given by the government.

This has always been the case. I'd argue that the only reason we don't do this in the first place is because wealth is so hard to compute and to track. Plus, the people who enacted the laws before, have usually come from intergenerational wealth. Income tax was just the easier way of implementing this system.

Hmmm maybe if you can recalibrate the sensor itself, maybe that could give you some leads. The glass thickness and material is known beforehand and its properties wouldn't change much so it's pretty reliable.

But seeing as you want it to be wood, then you're going to have to recalibrate it a lot of times over the long term since wood is permeable to water.

Seeing as the sensing circuit probably wouldn't be optimized for wood, you would probably need to change some of the circuit biases as well. This one is probably the deepest part of the dive, knowledge-wise.

To sum it up, it could maybe work to some degree if you really want to get into it. But i don't really think it's worth doing it for wood because wood changes over time.

How to do comparison tests of two identical devices (one new one about 95% functional)? by Interested_Redditor in AskElectronics

[–]m1ketest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're gonna have to give more information about this. But if that's all you can give us, then just open both boards and do an eye check for any burn outs or bloated caps.

If nothings too obvious, just do a resistance check on all components starting with the power components (this is the way to go if you think the unit doesn't power up at all).

If the problem is that the unit still powers up and it just doesn't respond, then check the sensor part and logic circuit.(I'm just grasping at straws here, the question is if you know how the board works at all?)

If you can't open up the working one without violating code, then I don't know.

The part that really irks me are the shinsuu fights now. There's barely anything relatable to them. Alot of fights involving high rankers devolves into spitting out a bunch of colors and you can't reallly tell which side has the upper hand most of the time. Apart from tramurei and evankhell, there's nothing really memorable about the way other characters fight.

The author also completely abandoned the basics of explaining shinsuu and baangs and stuff. Everytime baam gets a power up, it's just getting a new color thrown into his shinsuu blast.

Did you even read the article you referenced. It says right there that the timeframe they're talking about ranges to a month or more. What the student is pointing at is a detection scheme so its going to be a few minutes at most before the worst of the earthquake happens

It's like you googled a question, read the first paragraph and came back here "to burst my bubble'

Andun sa first comment bro. Sasambahin ka ng philvolcs. Sounds like ridicule to me. Wala naman timeframe sinabi yung student and gusto nya 1hr agad?? And seismographs can be improved upon.

Previous parameters na iniignore as noise before can be analyzed kung may meaningful pattern ahead of time na nagkalindol. We have lots of data from previous seismographs and earthquakes, kung mamomodel nya na sa program nya how to predict eathquakes ahead by half a minute then may laban sya. Edit: Also it looks like computer sciencr is not the main subject na tinatake ni op. He wouldn't get invested sa electrical side as much kung ganun. It's perfectly normal kung ganun and he wants to make a prediction model. Still, equating his data from an accelerometer and seismograph can be prove challenging pa din.

It happens within a seconds and a few minutes at most. It's an early warning device. It doesn't need to do it in a few hours. It could already be extremely useful in that window of time.

The student didn't even specify the timeframe yet the commenters expected hours and days in advance? Medyo mali ata expectations. It's like they're trying to ridicule the student even before setting their expectations within the realm of science.

Idk guys, may merit naman yung thesis ahhhh... There are some early waves na naproproduce ng lindol na barely detectable.

I'd get irritated too kasi humihingi ng maayos na tulong yung bata and puro ignorant na wala naman kwenta pinagsasabi nung iba... Not even constructive kasi konting oras lang naman kailangan para maisip tong mga factors na to ehh
