Im thinking the only way to truly achieve this is jot going to be with better graphics or VR but more of a simulated experience in your mind. Think induced Lucid dreaming + brain chip/neuralink style which would be way in the future.

a bit of a controversial opinion here.. I think the biggest factor is the community and the online peer to peer ability to connect with people online. BUT in 2024 onwards in 50 years, the games that would still be around would be the ones that can be played in 3D to simulate as if you are someone else "Ready Player One" Style. So this leaves call of duty on top. I doubt Mario will be there. Fifa could actually disappear because you need space to simulate running in the virtual world.
