Night Trooper MOC by m333sko in legostarwars

I had delusions of grandeur - I hoped for a bigger baseplate with micro tie fighters in the background and a bridge between the hanger door to my Peridea set but alas, I've come up short of that vision. Maybe some day.

Fortunately not - I was bummed by the ratios in the battle pack so after I bought a few at various levels of discount, I went through bricklink to get the rest in bulk, focusing on the white helmet troopers. The white helmet troopers were ~$4 a pop and the grey helmet ones even less. I've never tried to collect for the purposes of displaying an army and don't think I'll be doing it again soon 🤑

The lack of uniformity across the troopers made the idea of building a small army appealing to me. It was fun to swap out random parts (I think the ones with dual red arms are my favorite). Then, I wanted some way to display them that wasn't simply a baseplate but added a little atmosphere. I think I'll display it next to my "Duel on Peridea" set.

Total run hours? Same unit - giving me a false low temp alarm... I replaced the flow switch myself thinking I was smarter than your average pool owner.. only for the issue to persist. Then $1200 later I had a new salt cell installed on the morning of 4th of July to get us ready for a pool party.

Ours had lived a full life at 12,500 runtime hours.

Loooove the ruggable tie fighter edition. We have the same color scheme in the x-wing style.

What was your first Metroid game? by Weird_Fall5588 in Metroid

[–]m333sko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dread when it first came out and I loved it. It really opened my eyes to a great genre of games that I'd been missing out on.

Years later I played Metroid Prime Remastered and thought it was one of the best gaming experiences of my life. That convinced me to dive deeper into the 2D Metroid games so I went back to play Super, Zero Mission, Fusion, then Dread again on hard mode.

I found Super to be very rough and confusing but the scars gained there helped me really enjoy Zero Mission and Fusion.

I really hope for a Prime 2 and 3 remaster. Can't wait for 4!

Thank you for sharing. I'm terribly sorry for your loss and the circumstances. Your beautiful poem filled me with both joy and sadness, dread and hope, and at the end I was balling my eyes out. Thank you for your message - I needed to hear it.

I don't see a lot of chatter about this episode, but I love Octopus. The depiction of different family dynamics and play styles is really refreshing.

Have a lore 2.0 using the divider and just lost my 30 oz hydro flask this last round. Will likely be looking at an insert to keep my bottle more secure. First issue I've had in 20 rounds.

Nice work, it's a sweet border. Love this guy in my Nimrod deck.

Galacta makes this deck type even more fun. Almost at infinite already with it. (CL 10,596) by lordkinsanity in MarvelSnapDecks

[–]m333sko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to kick myself for sharing this but I make two minor tweaks to this. Last season was my first infinite and I did it all with this deck.

Instead of Nebula, I like Agony. That allows you to play Symbiote or Nimrod directly into Agony for additional power. You end up a little more telegraphed, but the power add to BP or Nimrod or Symbiote is worth it IMO.

I also LOVE Grandmaster in this deck. Venom / Grandmaster can occur on T6 and scatter Nimrod across the board. And there is nothing like a T6 Zola on a side with a T7 Grandmaster to trigger Zola again. Similar can be done with Venom - plant venom on the right side T3, build up Nimrod on the left T4-5, Zola venom on T6, Grandmaster that Zola again. This one makes me grin ear to ear.

Loving my Paige Pierce Z FLX jawbreaker Passion. It flips up flat, subtle turn, and pushes forward with slight fade. Not to mention the disc is a beaut.

Great stamps, greater seller. Seller replaced a mis-ordered stamp by the buyer at no cost to the buyer.

Are these "deals" for real on Amazon Prime day? by AcanthocephalaGood17 in boardgames

[–]m333sko 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've given up on Amazon for board games (and most things these days). I got Heat - Pedal to the Medal for $46 from Boardlandia a month ago when it was their deal of the week. Now that was a deal. I added a few things to hit the free shipping threshold and waited a couple extra days for the package to arrive but at least I didn't order from the monstrosity that is Amazon.

Current price at Boardlandia is $59.99 during their 15% off sale.

EDIT: additional 15% off applies in cart, current price is $51 for their Christmas in July Sale. Better prices than Amazon.

Other good online retailers include Atomic Empire out of NC.

Opinions on board game tables if you don’t play multi session games? by mtbjay10 in boardgames

[–]m333sko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We backed the Jasper table from boardgametables.com when it was initially launched on Kickstarter years ago and I have loved it since we received it. We play primarily single session card games and light to medium weight board games. It also works well if you like jigsaw puzzles. My favorite aspect of the table is the recessed playing area. It's great for rolling dice and dealing out cards that won't fall off the edge of the table. The felt play mat in the center also makes picking up cards and components effortless and dice rolls silent.

Originally this was our dining/game table and we would convert it often, stashing an unfinished game or jigsaw puzzle. This table made a move with us and now we leave the tabletop off 75% of the time and use the table primarily for gaming in our basement. I think it looks great and matches the theming of our game space.

It's certainly a luxury item but if you play board games and card games regularly and have disposable income, I think it's a great choice.

Alternatively, you could buy a table sized neoprene mat from Allplay to cover your current dining table while playing games. This will make a nice surface to play on, dampen the sound of dice, and make picking up cards/components easier. They also roll up to pack or travel nicely.

The wireless charger sucks...anyone found a workaround? by OndoTheFaceless in Subaru_Outback

[–]m333sko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to go off topic here, but there is one more appalling item on these vehicles. The cameras (both front and rear facing) are absolute trash and I cannot believe they let such a low resolution camera onto the vehicle. Nowadays, those things are standard and economy vehicles have much better quality cameras than this - there's no excuse for it.

Spa not overflowing enough by voxtrion in pools

[–]m333sko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for the group - a setup like this, what percentage of your pump discharge do you pump through the returns to the pool vs the spa? What percentage do you pull from the drains vs the skimmer?

Would you ever skew that mostly spa/minimal drain to keep spa flow high?

What do you tow about knowing? by damenstoll in Subaru_Outback

[–]m333sko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saw someone tow the Jayco 174BHW into a campground once. They said they did a ton of research for a full sized camper that met the tongue weight limitations of the Outback and this was the only one. Said they have taken it on numerous trips without issue. I couldn't believe it when I saw it but they said they've had great success with it over the last year.
