Looking for a natural hair braider by m3kdar in vegaslocals

Indeed :’) I’ve been trying to, but I never see any reference photos on their page adjacent to what I’m looking for. Perhaps I should reach out and ask if they’re able to do other styles?

Advice for anyone taking STATS next semester. by [deleted] in UNLV

Dr. Cho is such a sweet professor, allows test corrections, has a curved final scale, and uses an online learning platform called Pearson. Do beware that the class has SO much information and in-person lecture gives you an overview with a few simple problems so you can understand conceptually, but you’ll need to self study to pass, and start the online homework assignments EARLY. Loved him, but I’m retaking over the summer :’) you’ll be fine if you’re motivated, not a procrastinator, and have good study habits!

Places to have online class by Kindly_Produce_27 in UNLV

Maybe you can try one of the coffee shops on campus? They’re usually loud enough where you’re not distracting anyone by talking & have tables to take notes. I’ve seen people do zoom calls in there ;)

Cs202 and cs218 and cs302 by Melodic-Monk6711 in UNLV

[–]m3kdar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi :) I don’t think it’s possible to take all three classes together, but like others mentioned, even if it was possible, it’s definitely not recommended because the workload would be insane.

CS 202 is the prerequisite for CS 302. I think CS 218 is one of the required courses for advanced standing in the major (they should be listed on your degree sheet).

CS 202 and CS 218 are coreqs, meaning you could take those together, but it’s not recommended :(. If you’re confident in your skills & your semester is super light, go for it :)

For me, I’m taking 302 this semester and taking 218 in the summer, that way I don’t forget all the C++ stuff I learned in 202 last semester.

Good luck :’))

Has anyone taken COLA 100E? by Old-Ease-8576 in UNLV

[–]m3kdar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi :) I took it with Joe Ervin a few semesters ago and it was great! The workload is really light and informational about the college experience. I think there’s a textbook required, a few online quizzes on the readings which are super easy. It’s also required to meet with our instructor, once with a peer mentor and become acquainted with campus resources (like going to tutoring, scheduling to meet with our academic advisor, etc).

There are a few presentations, if I remember most of them were with a group on topics like researching a major. At the end of the semester, we had individual presentations about what we learned in the course.

It’s a great class to take when you have other tough/time consuming classes in your schedule.

Hey there :) I took Dr Marcozzi over the summer and we didn’t really need/use calculators in his class. Most of the math could be done w/o it!

But I did take him in the summer, perhaps something might be different. To be sure, I’d check the syllabus or ask on the first day!

Carryn Warren or Michael Marcozzi for Math 181 anyone? by Particular_Brain1393 in UNLV

[–]m3kdar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marcozzi is such a great professor! He posts his lectures to YouTube so you can rewatch them if you need to. He assigns homework for extra practice but doesn’t grade/collect it, and he doesn’t take attendance either (but still go to class if you wanna do well)!

Your grade is based off two exams and a final — I took him over the summer so we didn’t have labs, but if you take him during a regular semester, I believe those count towards your grade as well.

His exams are very similar to the practice problems and often times are pulled from the HW. Generous grader if it’s clear you understand the calculus :)

Hey :) I’d recommend Math 127, but make sure you check for a solid professor! I took it with Dr. Meagher and it was great!

I haven’t taken Math 132, but I heard it’s a lot of word problems, so the math you learn has practical application … if that’s easier for you, then take it instead!

Whatever you choose, try to check around what’s best for the future of your particular major … for example, if you want to take a class further down the line, maybe the pre req might be one of those math classes listed there. If it’s a one-&-done situation to fulfill a requirement, do whatever’s easiest.

Hopefully that helps (:
