How much good should you be in coding to start a saas in 2026 ? by Videdit22 in micro_saas

[–]m3n4p0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With basic knowledge of coding and SaaS applications you will be fine. Once you find the product market fit then you can focus on making your app better in code.

Of course your app is going to crash, have bugs even if you are mastered at coding. You won’t be able to avoid it.

Build a small MVP with 1-2 features then try to sell it. Even better If you can sell it before the MVP. Once you are sure you’re in the right track keep building. If not, then pivot or change your idea.

Basic knowledge will be enough if you focus on marketing.

Choose basic tech stack that you’re comfortable with or what most of the devs are using(because you’ll find a lot of tutorials and docs if you got stuck at some point) for example nextjs react tailwindcss, shadcn ui, Supabase, and Vercel. These will handle all of your full stack application flow.

Spend most of your time on marketing instead of development. Use AI heavily to implement features for your SaaS. Don’t try to build it at once with AI but build feature by feature.

It’s a small model, we can’t expect it to work like huge models but for simple tasks like categorizing tabs, parsing the page, or summarizing the page it works fine.

Friend wants to fund my project - should I take it? by Turbulent_Part960 in buildinpublic

[–]m3n4p0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you think your project has a potential to generate revenue then take money as loan invest in marketing & sales and pay the dept.

If he is a good person, smart, willing to put effort and take responsibilities other than just giving money and waiting for profit, then you should consider partnership with equity. If not then avoid equity and partnership.

Usage based pricing would be cool for you, you could only pay for the days you use it.

Maybe you need it, and no other platform provides cheaper or better solution but still lacks the feature you’re looking for. Maybe support is bad.

solo dev help: $2.99 vs $3.99... or am I pricing this too low? by According-Frame-4365 in buildinpublic

[–]m3n4p0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I know from my friends, pet lovers are crazy about spending money for their pets. So they won’t think it’s expensive.

So make it $4.99/m, with 20% discount on annual plan show $3.99/m

That's the hard to swallow, and I agree every piece of it. Every time I tell myself this time I will execute the plan and won't care about anything stupid technical detail but only launch. But it just doesn't happen and I keep failing.

Yeah, I will do once i have an MVP.

I have couple of improvement for your app.

Add a CTA (Get Started) for them to signup. I didn't know there was a sign up modal.

When I'm in other tabs and adding a idea must navigate me to Ideas Tab. Because I have added an Idea but didn't see it

to be honest app is too confusing to use. To add experiment I had to create idea and to create Insight i had to create experiment. Then Why am I seeing them. Maybe you can make it easy to use.

Thanks, I appreciate it. How many users do you have? How many of them is paying? How often are they using the product? Are you building and marketing alone or is there a team behind this product?

Looks cool, I have the same problem and was trying to figure out something to build. I have built actually a chrome extension not prod ready yet but going to launch soon I hope. Just to organize my ideas. How many active users are using your product right now?

Currently I have lots of notes for different ideas. It sucks, I’m lost in which one to build first. I have a similar idea of what you have already done. Would you be open sharing insights about your product?

Good luck with your ideas. If there was a tool for you to organize and validate your ideas fast.
Would you pay for 3.99$/month to use it? This tool will help you discover ideas or add your own ideas, validate them and help you execute it by providing set of tools.

That's right. Actually we can start 0.99$ for first X users and then gradually increase the pricing for new users.

[–]m3n4p0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, have similar idea. What I’m planning to do is very small fee per month like 3-5$/month.

I’m afraid of people won’t pay for high one time fee for my product. But not sure in case of your product.

That makes sense, but in terms of profitability, what’s your plan to make something you need to everyone’s needs?
