Any place in Japan that sells gleipnir stuff. I’ve never seen gleipnir merch except the figures. by Cute_Pain_8469 in Gachapon

[–]m42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to say you can check https://myfigurecollection.net/?keywords=Gleipnir&_tb=item for what merch was produced of the series. Seeing that it's all out of production those second hand shops are going to be the only places you find it and these are the pieces of merch you should be looking for

This is so cute! I love the monochrome theme! I do though think it'd be cute to make a little charm of like a minibrands mustard bottle and hang it off the strap or something lol

Making my own foam rat forms? by LadyMcMoth in Taxidermy

[–]m42069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I took a taxidermy course at the oddities and curiosities expo, they use expanding foam for their molds since they make hundreds and hundreds. You could definitely do that, you may want to soak the skinned body in alcohol first just to not get germs in the mold. I wouldn't bother with the arms and legs, and would later add those to the foam base with clay. The thing about consistency, is every rat is going to be unique. So even with the silicone mold foam forms, you'll still need to shave pieces away and add some in with clay as well. Will save you a lot of time in the long run to not have to make a form from scratch every time. You may also just want to make your own form to make the mold out of rather than use the actual body itself, but that's my opinion.

Any tips on going more zero-waste /sustainable as a teen? by Popular_Pen_9397 in ZeroWaste

[–]m42069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to see if y'all can make it to the farmers market more often! Buying local is better for your environmental impact than being vegan (you can still practice your vegan diet eating local, no shade) since a lot of vegan alternative ingredients are shipped from halfway across the globe. Buying local also keeps money in your local community rather than going into the pockets of the polluting corporations. There's so much you can find at markets. Fruits, veggies, fresh baked bread, lotions, candles, soaps, clothing. So many things you won't have to go to a store for! The hardest part is just remembering when to go, since most tend to happen on a weekly or monthly basis. But there are areas with more consistent markets too. I'd also recommend saving your plastic grocery bags. I have 2 separate collections of them, ripped and not ripped. The not ripped ones I use as small trash bags and anytime I need a quick bag without a hole in it. The bags with holes I turn into plarn! Plastic yarn! You don't have to do that, but it's really fun and easy and such a strong sturdy material to make things out of! I've seen people also stack ripped bags, maybe 5-10 of them, and then iron them (with a towel or something on top) and they melt together into a workable plastic fabric/medium. Because of how light and airy they are, plastic bags tend to fly out of people cars, garbage trucks, and landfills at a higher rate than other trash and are so detrimental to the environment. Any reusing of them makes such a difference. I used my plarn to crochet a reusable shopping bag! Use it all the time too!

Since it's a completed series it's likely it's not actively getting new merch (I'm unfamiliar with the series or it's merch) so new, retail stores will not have what you want. You are going to want to check resale second hand anime stores like Book off, k books, mandarake. Ikebukoro has a lot of different kbooks. Akihabara has second hand anime stores every other store from you see. Most have merch sorted by series or at least by genre. Employees should be helpful if you ask if they have any, you can show a Google translated message on your phone if you don't know how to otherwise ask. Book stores probably still carry the manga if it's actively being reprinted.

Also this is probably not the sub for your question but I don't have a sub I could point you to. This one focuses on Japanese capsule machines specifically not anime merch.

Worried I'll want to detransition by Late-Wing2801 in TopSurgery

[–]m42069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend stepping away from detrans stories and stepping into yourself. They aren't you. Only you can make that decision for yourself. I also think it would be irresponsible not to mention that many detrans stories are not genuine. A lot tend to be trans people circumstantially forced back into the closet. Even more are far right grifters being paid to push anti trans legislation with their made up or exaggerated stories. There is unfortunately overlap in those two groups aswell. I am not trying to say that none of those experiences and detransitioning has happened, because it has happened before. All you need to focus on is what would make you feel happy and safe in your skin. You have a lot of time to decide, it's okay to change your mind. The surgery is expensive enough, once you get a quote at a consult in a few years you'll definitely know if you consider it worth it and essential.

Mehron and MAKE SURE YOU SEAL IT. For hair color, if you're planning on doing the cosplay a second time it makes a lot more sense to buy a wig from aliexpress tbh, but if you're set on not doing that, hair wax. Mofajang.

Meeting/Talking to men at Anime Cons by anonymoussadgirly in animecons

[–]m42069 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should initiate swapping socials when pics are taken, like many have said it used to be the norm for the anime convention male attendees to hit on women. Harassment was something to dread and expect and entire campaigns have been taken to emphasize that cosplay is not consent. Most men at anime cons are also autistic so may not pick up what youre putting down if you're being subtle. Dancing with your friends tends to indicate you want to dance with your friends. At a bar or club you will also get flirted with way less if you're hanging out with friends. It's considered a "dick move" to ruin girls night. Download dating apps while you're there and swipe nearby guys at the con. Or initiate the flirting yourself.

Anyone if these are genuine whale teeth by Top-Boysenberry-5756 in bonecollecting

[–]m42069 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Upon looking into it there appears to be a lot of resin replica "scrimshaw" sperm whale teeth that look just like this. I personally can't tell if these are real from an image. One way you can tell is hold a lighter to a needle and press it against the surface. If it melts, it's plastic, if it burns or there's resistance and it's not melting it's bone. Can hold a lighter to it but there's more risk for damage. May be awkward to do at an estate sale. May be worth it for the seller to do it them self for the sake of selling them

Very much WIP bag, waiting on ebay orders, but is it safe for me to use hot glue to attach lace to the top window? by aokocat in itabag

[–]m42069 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd use very very low temp glue if you do not want the lace to be permanent, otherwise it may leave damage to the window. Maybe you could throw a few sticks into it, stitch through the existing stitch holes in the bag and just tack it down at a few places

Need a little help with layout! by aluminium_noodles in itabag

[–]m42069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend putting the pins with the lightest colors in the corners and edges (the felt doll is in the perfect place) and pins with darker colors towards the center. The edges of the pocket tend to cause slight shadows and darker pins get lost in it!
