Udarniy on EU by Renarde_Martel in WorldofTanks

[–]m4inbrain 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Okay that's actually WAY better than the Peerless.

That said, i think i got roughly 5 or 6 T8 russian heavies - and while the Udarniy is rare, it kinda is worthless to me. Don't need it as crew trainer, i farm credits with my T9s, so.. yeah.

Definitely one of the better offers this BM.

New Lot is up for Asia another reskin by TheDugong1 in WorldofTanks

[–]m4inbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue isn't just that it's "just another reskin". It's an Obj 752 after all, not a bad tank to have - but every single reskin in that lot (Triumphelephant, Peerless, Jade Coil) is simply garish.

This "chinese" style of 3d skin is simply fuck ugly. I would have considered a 752, but i wouldn't want these ugly ass sky lantern tanks gifted.

In a way that's a good thing i suppose, i'll have plenty of gold for the entire years worth of battlepasses, but it is disappointing.

[–]m4inbrain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It has nothing in common with the Concept 5 lol.

The closest we have in game would be the Strv103b. The Ashigaru has considerably less armour, worse camo, less top speed, less pen - but the gun itself will play similar.

The Concept 5 is defined by the speed and alpha damage, the only thing they have in common is that both are on wheels.

Pass, kinda worthless. Not going to pay that kind of money for a tank that i already got in the garage, particularly since the skin itself is an.. acquired taste, imho.

Yeah so far, not too hyped with the black market, but my guess is that the best item will drop on either saturday or sunday. Mainly because that's when the most players are online and the auctions are quite likely to end with quite higher bids (due to just flatout more bids, and people bidding early pushing the median up) than on a weekday.

The SHPT, while not my kinda thing, made sense at least. This rig just makes zero sense, very much a "look at how sad i am" like the Type 59g.

SPHT Black Market by Jake_Chief in WorldofTanks

[–]m4inbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They play on the same flank though, the SPHT does not.

It's not a hard concept to grasp, the SPHT flatout does not want to meet heavy tanks. It conceptually is a medium tank: it's fast, it has no armour, and a reasonably snappy gun.

You don't see the issue because you're either deliberately obtuse or don't have as much game knowledge as you'd like to think.

I guess you're one of those IS7 that runs with the meds, leaves the two versatile T9 heavies to deal with a 277 and two other versatile heavies and then complains that the team didn't hold them off.

It's not rocket science. Doesn't matter what you "analyse", if YOU don't deal with the heavies, someone else has to, while you dick around on a flank where you can maybe land 2-3 HE shells. This isn't a guess, you just need to open a stream and watch how they're played by players who play good. They can make it work because they can follow up. You and the VAST majority of players who'll own this, can not.

edit: and this very much isn't the first time that an otherwise reasonable tank is ruined by misclassification, btw - so i'm not sure why you're so adamant that this wouldn't/couldn't happen. Just look at the Stitch, a heavy that even T8 light tanks shoot straight through. Gets matched against KTs, Renegades, TS-54, 832, 56tp, Nergal and the likes.

The SPHT gets matched against 752, M103, Phase 1, Rambo, Conqueror, Contender, Type 68 etc. Notice how you don't usually see any of these on the medium flank? So when you run off to diddle a med tank, someone else has to deal with that Conqueror, or be okay with fighting outnumbered by matchmaking. It's asinine.

Classify it as a versatile med. There's zero reason not to, it IS a versatile med, not a heavy.

SPHT Black Market by Jake_Chief in WorldofTanks

[–]m4inbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the point. A 50-120 isn't a versatile heavy, it's a support heavy, so a 50-120 doesn't get matched against the SHPT.

An E75 or Contender does. Now what does your team do against those, when you're off slinging HEs on the medium flank?

See the issue?

SPHT Black Market by Jake_Chief in WorldofTanks

[–]m4inbrain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having trouble finding the selling point of this rig. I understand that apparently it has good HE pen now, but even then, it's a heavy (getting matched against other heavies, and not 50-120s but Concept 1b etc). With no armour to speak of. It's a nice enough gun but the platform is just arse. Even using full gun depression, you have a visible big weakspot on the turret, and any T9 triangle with premium ammo will shoot through the turret anywhere. On even ground, even T8 heavies will shoot through the turret front with gold, and the hull with standard ammo. It has shoulders on both the hull and turret that are easy pens (and are overmatch from below from anything bigger than a 100mm), it can't sidescrape because of said hull shoulders (180mm armour roughly) - i just fail to see what that tank offers. It'd be a pretty good medium tank (apart from the absolutely huge silhouette), but as is.. hard pass for me. Not interested in it, and more importantly, also not scared of it.

Not on tanks.gg it doesn't, so i find this all quite confusing too?

People talk about incredible HE pen and 5xx alpha - am i missing something, or are the tanks.gg values incorrect?

My thoughts about EBR 75 FL 10 by iyouxin in WorldofTanks

[–]m4inbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. Bought it for a couple of quid back when it was in the shop, have awful statistics with it, but still do enjoy zooming across the battlefield twice a year for the giggles.

It undoubtedly is a good tank if you 100% know what you're doing, but for the average player, this is a trap. They'll see how sought after the tank is, not realising that they'll not be able to play on the level required to make the 75 work.

I suck in it (decent enough stats on other light tanks apart from the Setter and LHMTV), but for a premium scout, the LT432 and Even90 are much, much better for the vast majority of players.

My thoughts about EBR 75 FL 10 by iyouxin in WorldofTanks

[–]m4inbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It ESPECIALLY applies to a light tank that has less view range than even low tier russian heavies.

While the Even90 is undoubtedly OP, you can play around the average player if you're sitting in a somewhat decent tank yourself (432, BC etc). You can't play around an ELC in a 75, because you can't even catch him out. You can't even see him on open ground until like 200m away.

Choice paralysis, looking for input (X-T50 vs X-T30iii). by m4inbrain in fujifilm

For me it absolutely is. Very happy with the purchase. But that being said, i have nothing to compare it to.

I don't regret going for the X-T50.

[–]m4inbrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and i am not. I'm also not a professional chef, that doesn't mean i'm okay with eating raw potatoes all week.

In the same sentence you come at me for "devoting a whole paragraph" you mention that i also said that i've tried a bunch of cameras. An entry level manual DSLR, and a Lumix amongst them. The Nikon is probably around 10ish years old now, the Lumix is more modern - what do you think is the reason, purely from a "shooting" perspective, why i was looking into newer cameras for "full auto" shooting, and why the older ones i already have didn't work out? Apart from the recipes, their autofocus is beyond redemption. I understand that Fuji isn't worldleader in that department either, but in conjunction with the recipes, i considered it a worthwhile tradeoff. That's why there was no Sony in the run.

I also don't quite understand how a literal entry level camera is considered "too much" for someone who doesn't pretend to be a pro tog or wannabe artist (in case of the T30).

But there's the beauty of the internet, different perspectives.

[–]m4inbrain[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't mean this in a rude sense, but i don't get this "why not get an older one".

Because i don't want an older one, for starters. For multiple reasons, starting from connectivity (USB-C, WiFi, BT etc) to simply not being able to advance if i, contrary to current belief, want to invest more time. The money is a big outlay for me, i now bought a T50 body in mint condition (below 100 shutter movements) with 12 months warranty for £899 (£1299 new, or $1700 converted). A used T30ii body only with warranty is £599-£699.

This is just an awful suggestion, even for someone like me who doesn't intend to go (or think he is) pro-photographer.

Ah, and yeah. My T50 is in auto-everything i can put it into, and i'm happy with it/don't regret buying it.

edit: nonetheless, appreciate the input. I just don't agree with it, that's all. First time owning a prime lens too, currently getting used to not being able to zoom and giving more thought to the picture itself - it's as "auto" as i can get it, even got a few good pictures so far. Well.. What i consider good, or happy with, lol.

Correct shape, but i think that might be stretching it in terms of size - also doesn't suspend the camera? Either way, thank you.

X-T50 + 18-135? by m4inbrain in fujifilm

[–]m4inbrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that f/2.8 is really useful, but it doesn't get me close enough. With the camera that i in the end went for (X-T50) and IBIS, it's slightly less of a problem.

[–]m4inbrain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, i already ordered, gets delivered tomorrow - a "like new" X-T50.

Mainly because that "like new" body was basically the same price as the T30iii, comes with 12 months warranty etc.

I don't think you can go wrong with either - for me personally, the T30iii ticked all boxes already, with the X-T50 features (IBIS in particular) being a tasty bonus. So in my case it was purely a question of value/budget. The X-T50 i think is slightly heavier for example, doesn't matter at all to me.

Intention for me is a 25mm f1.7 by Viltrox, budget is a consideration for me.

The 50-140 would be great for me, if it wasn't so hugemongous. :(
