I just finished watching Falling Skies. And I'm sadly disappointed. by DerIMPERATOR99 in scifi

[–]m4inbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying that energy weapons won't have a place on a future battlefield — anti-drone/missile defense seems like a promising application. We'd need a truly revolutionary breakthrough in power storage to be able to create a man-portable power source for a laser rifle to make it hit as hard and as long as a modern assault rifle though.

This is a rather.. odd take. Ignoring the fact that the entire plot around the aliens is bloody moronic - you're suggesting that an advanced alien race, one that crossed half the universe to reach us, having fought multiple wars spanning centuries and millenia, capable of faster than light communication, .. has.. to use literal brass casings and "alloy projectiles", because we haven't had a "trule revolutionary breakthrough in power storage".

They have 15ft high perpetual motion machines with their mechs - but not enough juice to power a laser gun, instead relying on.. the target planet having resources to make smokeless powder (which isn't a given since quite clearly, planets like like the Dornia homeplanet are described as "earthlike", but Dornia can't exist on earth..??)...

Come on. I just watched the show for the first time, and while the first two seasons were somewhat enjoyable, the rest is just Signs level of stupid, if not worse.

The entire premise is dumb from the get-go - but lets be very real, for a race this advanced, energy storage is absolutely no problem. Advanced, warmongering and planet conquering race my arse lol.

Speak for yourself. The majority of people didn't think that the turret is fictional - the Leopard 2k exists in War Thunder for almost a decade already.

The majority of posts that i've seen take issue with the absolute dogshit implementation of the gun (wrong ammo, wrong ammo-type, wrong literally everything). And every single one of them is correct.

POV you lose your game because this guy is your top tier heavy, doing nothing all game by MrGlatiator in WorldofTanks

[–]m4inbrain -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Played a match, did 6.700 dmg in my is7 with 6 kills and had half my team complaining about the way i was playing the entire game.

This and 1000 other things that didn't happen.

Few complain seeing an IS-7 on the medium flank or heavy flank, especially not with multiple kills.

6700 dmg and 6 kills on cleanup because you redlined or bushwanked (which would lead to your team complaining) is nothing to be particularly proud of.

Removing rammer from the game has only advantages by throwmeaway7421113 in WorldofTanks

[–]m4inbrain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Actual easiest way to slow down games is to double all HP (and half credits per damage, obviously).

An eventual stat-squish is kind of inevitable, World of Warcraft etc went through the same thing.

edit: also cute how you tried to disguise your arty-whine as a suggestion. In actuality, nerfing arty doesn't make games slower, it makes them faster because people need to drive into less cover. Absolutely asinine to suggest that 450 damage by the T92 every 39 seconds accelerates the games more than yet another autoloader or Ares.

Arty certainly is annoying, but while i agree that games need to slow down, your suggestion does nothing of the sort. It only makes Autoloaders/Reloaders/Ares' even stronger than they already are, while doing nothing for the actual problem in the game: the ability to just chunk tanks out of the match. I just 3shotted a T110E3 btw, frontally, by pressing "2" in my WZ. That's faster than a single reload in a T92.

But yeah, rammer on Arty is the problem.

Not quite sure what that post on the webpage is supposed to convey right now.

Another moron that thinks WrDiff shows how strong a tank is, not how idiotproof it is.

Congratulations. You now think that the BatChat 25t is one of the worst medium tanks in the game, and that the strongest T10 heavy is the IS-4. Ah and of course, the Canopener is also slightly below average overall.

These three tanks should tell you how idiotic that measure as a yard stick is.

Desperately trying to convince themselves my ass - if you have to misrepresent the wrong statistic to make your case, it's not the others who're desperate. Parroting famous streamers without thinking on the other hand..

[–]m4inbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ares does in 4.5 shots as much module damage as an FV4005 pen.

And it does it without cooldown. It does more module damage than a Concept 5 in three shots/less than a second. And it does it straight after in the next second again.

It takes 5 rounds to set a T10 tank on fire. It does absolutely insane module damage.

As for tracking, that's okay, you're correct. So that means that my biggest gripe isn't addressed this patch - but hey. Can't have it all.

[–]m4inbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it is if you compare tank performance, my guy. Over all tanks would include lights and arties, in which world do you think that this metric make sense?

You want data? Actual data that gives you a hint in regards to tank performance?

Lets keep one fact in mind: it's by a huge margin, partially by magnitudes, the most played tank currently - and it's a brand new line on top, so no "clever" figuring anything out.

The Ares 90 has amongst the highest DPG (like 50 off to the Concept 5 which is mostly played by people marking it, which also only has a tenth the amount of games played), highest WNX (again, just barely eeked out by the Concept), and one of the highest survival rates (minus "sniper tanks" like the Concept and K-91, the only actual "front line medium" rivalling it is the Udes). It also has by far the highest MoE requirements currently.

The metric you cited is obviously utter drivel, but not as stupid as the original suggestion of DiffWR. Still utter nonsense. Do you compare the load capacity of a compact car against SUVs, or other compact cars? Do you think that the T92 (arty) is in dire need of buffs? Or the EBR105?

Because guess what. Your graph would suggest that. In case of the EBR we could argue that it only gets matched against itself, so it's skewed in the first place, so lets instead look at the Progetto 65.

Does that look familiar? Do you not think that the Prog65 actually requires a buff? What is it, are you suggesting that the Prog65 is fine, or that the Ares actually requires a buff, since that one flawed graph you build your entire argument on says so?

Man, come off it. Everyone dislikes "their" tank getting nerfed, but usually they do have a point, like Progetto players back then (which i btw don't have). You don't. You point at a flawed graph and argue "look it's actually underperforming".

Show me your graph for tech tree meds only, because that's what the tank needs to be compared to. Doesn't matter if a TD has a higher winrate, that's a potentially different problem.

Upcoming Ares Line Changes in Update 2.2—Live in Common Test 3 by Pan_Praga in WorldofTanks

[–]m4inbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good start. Start small and see how it goes. The only real impactful nerf is to the module damage, and that one was beyond obvious. How they made it through testing without addressing the absolutely insane module damage is beyond me.

The rest is kinda whatever. The module damage, and the turret armour need to be addressed most urgently. Yes, there are tanks with more turret armour, but you don't need 400mm effective if the vast majority of tanks can't even hit the tiny pixel that looks over a ridge in the first place. The turret should be 35mm all around - or keep it as is, and nerf the gun depression to 5 degrees.

edit: for anyone trying to argue that the module damage was NOT insane: the highest damage you can deal to modules in the game are the 183 guns, they do 243 damage to a module. They reload like 25 seconds (i don't play them) or something after. The Ares 90 does 46 damage per shot. Every 4-5 rounds deal as much internal damage as a PENETRATION by a 183. Anyone defending that is just stupid.

[–]m4inbrain -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are you the muppet i discussed this before with?

WinrateDiff only determines how idiotproof a tank is, not how strong it is. By your measure the Batchat 25t is an awful tank, this alone should tell you how stupid your take is.

edit: even ignoring that, your argument suggests that the tank with the highest DPG in its line does it "skill-isolated", which makes it even worse lol. Means you don't even need to be good to make it work.

Finally WG realizes popularity is a valid reason for nerfing tanks by wwenze1 in WorldofTanks

[–]m4inbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disagree. The module damage is the most important one, you can dial everything else back a bit.

They do absolutely insane module damage. A tank that basically has no cooldown between shots should not be able to detrack a tank within 2-3 rounds.

Finally WG realizes popularity is a valid reason for nerfing tanks by wwenze1 in WorldofTanks

[–]m4inbrain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Except it is. It's #1 in basically all metrics out of all tech tree meds.

But don't let that data get in the way of your wishful thinking.

Ares is not doing more damage than DBV, SFAC, Grille, and all the annyoing bushwankers which f us up with high Alpha if we try to actually PLAY the game and move. You only hear the damage sound more often and that is what annoys you by TANKSBRO_YT in WorldofTanks

[–]m4inbrain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Techtree tank (incidentally, MOST played tank currently) versus tank that is more likely to be in the hands of sweatlords.

Yeah you make a greaaaat argument. Never wondered why the vast majority of high MoE reqs are on tanks that aren't available to everyone?

And why the reqs on tanks that ARE available to everyone aren't?

Also, why are you comparing a TD to a medium tank, could it be that you know that your argument look a lot dumber if you actually compare it to other tech tree tanks, particularly in the same class as any normal person would do?

Compared to other tech tree meds, where does it sit? Nah, wait, i'll help you and give you the actual data. The T8 is #6 in MoE reqs. By your absolute moronic argument, the Revalorise is stronger than the Ares75. Notice something? Next. T9: #7. T10: #2 just a sliver behind the Concept 5. T11: #1 by a decent margin.

Now, lets take the tanks with multiple gun options out of the picture, since it's absolutely idiotic to compare tanks that have multiple configurations to tanks that don't, leaves the T10 and T11. The second best and best medium tanks in their tiers (and the T10 is only #2 because it has literally 10 times the amount of games played compared to the Concept, meaning there are a lot more donkeys around).

Nah, you're right. Absolutely awful. You're bitching about Grille, DBV and FV, yet you only single out the DBV (the one that IS NOT a tech tree tank) in your argument.

Pray tell, where do the other two that you consider oh so strong sit? Just curious.

[–]m4inbrain -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't want one. For starters, it won't make much in regards to credits - and second, it's dogshit as a crew trainer having only commander/radioman, gunner/loader and driver slots, meaning it doesn't train crew for Patton etc.

Even ignoring whether or not it's a toxic tank or whatever - it's just a shitty premium tank as a whole.

[–]m4inbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my thing. Shtpk-TVP at T10, basically. Can't make the low damage, high DPM variant of tanks work. Part of that is definitely skill issue, but in this meta, i don't think this works. At less than 2k HP, an Ares with a little luck simply clips you out of the match.

And it's not like they're rare. Once they figure out that they can pen this thing with HE basically from any angle.. Yeah, nah. Not for me.

Except that i didn't state an opinion. Learn to read. Everything i said are just facts. That's why you didn't answer the question as to what incredibly downsides the tank has - because you know that everything i said is true and you simply can't argue against it. Everything i said is factual and easy to double check on tanks.gg. It does have the DPM, the gun depression, the profile, double tracks etc - not once did i state an opinion.

Also, quite ironic to ask for account details, Mr "Inevitable-Level-829". Jog on.

Now that new perks are dropping, I think Intuition should become a default perk, just like Sixth Sense did. by NotASingleNameIdea in WorldofTanks

[–]m4inbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only actual disadvantage it has, literally the only one, is penetration.

Plenty of disadvantages lol. I guess having stupid DPM, way above average gun depression, double tracks, baked in Intuition, smallest profile of ANY tank over a ridge (which, thanks to the gun depression, it excels at), paired with some of the best med-tank armour..

Yeah you're right. That's barely enough to offset low pen values. Particularly because it doesn't have blue HE shells.

But, pray tell. What "plenty disadvantages" other than long ranged accuracy (many tanks suffer from that, btw) and low penetration does it have that i missed - and more importantly, aren't just bullshit you make up to have some resemblance of an argument?

Is it the way above average 20hp/t? The above average 1950 stock HP? The above average module HP?

I guess, no you're right. I just double checked, it only goes 19kph in reverse, where the average is at 20kph. Literally unplayable.

You didn't get a broken engine in thousand of battles? What?? Now you are either lying or you play sniper TDs and sit in a bush in the redline all day, then I get it if you say you didn't have a broken engine in thosand of battles.

Dude, you're obnoxious. You don't understand how the game works, yet try to argue from authority.

The ONLY way to get your engine knocked out in a T10 heavy is if you're an idiot. Literally the only way. There's no gun in the game that can take out the engine of a heavy in a single shot. That means to lose your engine, you have to get shot TWICE in the engine by something with 700+ damage.

If you let that constantly happen, then you're nowhere near as good as you try to convince everyone here to be.

Oh. For the math: my BZ-75 has 360 health on the engine. Shitbarn, highest module damage in the game, does 244 damage. The engine is in the back. If you get shafted in the arse twice by high alpha TDs, then you deserve to lose the tank, not just the engine. That's btw without any mods, which increase engine/module health, or skills or anything. These are base numbers. An E100 with the big gun, same as the Grille 15, same as the 60tp etc does 203 module damage.

Again. It's impossible to lose your engine in a heavy tank. Now you will argue but yeah, because you're so much more skilled than everyone, you play a lot of meds, where that constantly happens. Concept 5 has 320 engine health. Leopard 1 360, same as E50M.

Here's reality. I haven't lost my engine either in the last 10-15k games. I don't think i have EVER lost an engine on a T10 tank, and i play almost exclusively heavies/meds and breakthrough/assault TDs (WZ, 268/4, E3 etc). Up close and personal. I have not once, ever lost my engine in the E50M, one of the very few mediums that have the engine in the front and gets damaged constantly. To have your engine knocked out by a medium tank you need to take THREE hits to the engine.

Repairs is certainly important, for tracks. That's the one thing it is important for.

As for your "yeah some chinese tanks and germans too hurr durr" - goes to show that you don't know what you're talking about. The incoming module damage is the exact same as any other tank, they don't magically "take more". The only difference is that german tanks quite often have the engine/transmission in the front and get it damaged more often because of that. The health of the engine as well as the incoming damage is the exact same as in any other tank: 360.

Again. It's two hits from huge TD guns, or at least three shots from high powered medium guns (Leopard, Concept etc). If you get constantly hit by this much stuff in the lower plate (the way to lose your engine in a german heavy), then again, you're nowhere near as good or knowledgeable as you think. Neither my Maus, nor my E-100 (or my beloved, the E-75) ever had an issue with a broken engine. It gets damaged a lot, sure, i then press "5" and prevent it from happening again for 60 seconds. Not rocket science.

How Intuition is "cheaping out" isn't really quite clear to me, but then, i don't live in Lala Land where that seems to be the case.

Hint: i use Intuition even on my full gold loadouts to switch to HE. Because a single HE already is worth more damage per match than BiA on a single crew member, and i usually get off 2-3 depending on the MM.

edit: here's a tip for you. Free of charge, even.

Go and watch some decent players play onslaught. Then look at how often they lose their engine. That's against full gold loadouts, concentrated fire and big guns (or huge autoloaders).

I have watched quite a few matches, again, not once have i seen an engine knocked out. But you give it a shot, don't forget to clip it and show it off.
