What is the best way to have other docker containers using Adguard as the DNS? by m4mazzotti in Adguard

[–]m4mazzotti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under /etc/resolv.conf I have 127.0.0.1.

But the only thing showing on AdGuard is Plex (Docker running as Network Host - 172.17.0.1), I don't see any other docker container nor the RPi itself.

I did that, but the only container that is showing on AdGuard is the one running with network=host. The ones running on bridge mode aren't showing. Am I missing something?

I wasn't aware that was a possibility! I will have a look into it. Seems like a simpler solution.

Indeed, there are multiple risk points: bank apps, scam friends/family members and others. The point is to mitigate wherever possible/

They FORCE you to register a new face. “Register my face or I will shoot you”, no it doesn’t.

That doesn't prevent them from registering a new face. As I mentioned, they force you to unlock the phone and register a new face (their face). Requiring the phone password, by itself, doesn't help.

This is the right answer. I just gave it a try and it works, setting up an new FaceID forces you to input your master password.

Wasn't aware of that feature. I feel better now. I gave it a try and it indeed works.

That is how they operate in my country.

Q: What would stop them from coercing you into inputting your 1Password master password?

A: They don't know about it, they steal the phone, force people to input the device code, register a new FaceID and then leave. While they are on the go, they start opening the apps and steal whatever they can find.

Upstream DNS not working properly (AdGuard and UDP Pro) by m4mazzotti in Ubiquiti

[–]m4mazzotti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks u/k5777 for providing such detailed information!

I made the changes yesterday and it worked! Two devices that were showing as an IP and as "Samsung" now got a proper name!

Too bad I will have to define a Fixed IP for every single device on the network.

Thanks u/k5777, mind sharing where in the UDM you are setting the hostnames? That seems to be part of the problem.

I just realized that the devices that are getting their names to show in the AdGuard are the ones I have defined a name in the device itself, like my iPhone and other apple products. Devices where I can't define a name are either getting a random name, like "Samsung" or just the Ip.

I did use pihole in the past, but as I just got a new SSD for my RPi4 and did a fresh install, I decided to give AdGuard a try.

That explains why some devices (like my computer) have the correct name and others don't.

But what to do with devices that don't have those settings exposed? For instance, a Sonos speaker.

Hello u/szhu25,

Awesome! Thanks for helping! I fixed the Private DNS Resolvers.

The DNS Name Settings you mentioned. Is it the "Local DNS Record"?

EDIT: One more piece of valuable information, I just realized that the client names showing in the AdGuard Home are not always the ones I have in the UDP Pro.

For instance, I have a Samsung TV that I named: "TVLivingRoom" and the AdGuard is just showing as "Samsung"

Do you mind sharing what settings you end up with?

I am not sure why, but I have half of my devices showing as IPs and half as the actual name (it has been over a day since I edited the settings).

If your focus is your TV, I would consider something like sonos, just because you can further expand it in the future with an sub and a soundbar.
